I just watched the episode, and I liked it however, I feel there is a small catch to Twilight now being an Alicorn, I feel in season 4, something will happen, that might change her back into a Unicorn, either this was planned or it was from the outcry of most Bronies.

Other than that, I really enjoyed the songs, the silliness of many of the characters, and for once, a flat out just funny episode.

Well everyone today is the big day, I have made no secret at my concerns about this but whether this turns out for good or for ill we all need to

pull together as a community and exercise some degree of humility with

the "I told you so's" that will inevitably come regardless of how this

turns out. Chaotic Discord brought up an excellent point in an another

thread and that is if people want to hate something they will, and of

course this also works the other way I wanted to like this show so I

kept an open mind gave it a try and did and it I am very glad that I

did. Not only did I discover a good show but also a great community

around it that I am proud to be a part of and will still remain a part even if the worst happens in the episode later today.

It is because of this that I have decided to

until I have seen the episode toss these concerns aside and watch this

episode not as someone who thought the idea was way too soon to be

justified at this point in the story but like how I was when I first

gave the show a try as someone who gives it a fair chance. If there is

one good thing that has come out of this it is that I now appreciate

Twilight Sparkle as a character more than ever for a while I overlooked

her as I often do with the "leader" characters but then a few months ago

she became a second to Applejack who I have made no secret I have long

thought of as best pony but a few days ago I came to an epiphany that she is tied with Applejack for best pony.

If

anyone can pull this episode off it is this talented team of writers

and I have faith that so long as Hasbro has let them do their thing that

everything will be fine so lets all watch this episode together as a

community and try to reserve our comments until after watching the

episode.

Okay, I am super worried about something now that I have seen the episode. Is MLPFiM over now? Or is there going to be a season 4? Please tell me that it is not over. Im sure that this is making me sound dumb and desperate, but I really would like conformation, one way or the other.

Yes there it is confirmed that there will be a season 4 and it will be 26 episodes, so it is not over as to whether or not this will work the episode did not convince me as it raised more questions than it answer but it will go into more detail in the season 4 premier so hopefully that will be better than the season 3 finale.

Don't worry

Season 4 is confirmed with 26 episodes

and this Season Finale was pretty much a 3 parter according to Megan

here is your proof :)

I can honestly say after watching MLP FiM for quite a while now that episode was the worst one yet for me. I mean they didn't really give you much info on a lot of the story it was just (Oh hey cutie marks got switched and boom Twilight figures out how to fix it in 10 mins and then boom Alicorn) I know I'm being a little nit picky here but really. The plot went way too fast and I don't understand the whole alternate dimension thing with Celestia. Oh my gracious the musical part I'm not one for musicals at all. I don't mind if they have songs in them with a good deal of dialog but almost all singing ugh. Oh well here's hoping that season 4 premiers bring a better view to the flop in my eyes that was the season 3 finale. I also hope to see Twilight turned back into a unicorn for some reason to re-balance the off set for the mane 6.

Oh and on a side note Luna is still best pony ever! (Let the trolling commence.) B)

Short and Sweet

Songs

I think this ep had some of the best songs of the season in
truth,  my one top of the songs was in
truth I've Got to Find a Way.  Which let us
hear a good range for Twilight’s vocals on a song alone. Behold, Princess Twilight Sparkle  was a bit rushed in the sound  but still good.  MLP has never failed in the music or lyrics
to much for the fans.

Plot/Rushed

Ok,  the ep felt
rushed to me,  Twilight does magic,  switches cutie marks and then helps to get
them back and BOOM!  Has wings and is a
princess!   I think they could have done
more in truth in making it more of a two parter to spread out the story.   Yes it was a good plot idea but the rushed
feeling made me a bit sad but I had hope for the writers as always.

Twilight with Wings…

Many fans worried that we would loss our Twilight Unicorn
now she has wings,  maybe not.   I think the core of who she is will stick
around just she is going to change due to being a alicorn now and a ruler of
the lands.   How I worry is what they
might do with the rest of the Mane Six….

If anything also,
Twilight now being a princess might bring in a good twist of humor to the
whole “Royal” branch  and also we hope to
get more Luna!  More Luna and Twlight is
a good thing and maybe more background on the Sisters themselves so let’s hope

Okay, I gotta show this to you guys, some of you have probably already seen it but what the hay, what do you think of this explanation for Twilight becoming an Alicorn,

I like it, would make an excellent cross pollenizing add for MLP and Red Bull (although the company themselves could never have made it because they would get bad PR for marketing energy drinks to young children). XP

I don't know, it was a good episode but it felt rushed, I think it should of been a 2 parter, the songs took all the time for dialogue and the problem was solved too quickly, it was unsatisfying.

Since when was FiM a 2002 Disney musical? 7 songs in 30 minutes? But Celestlia singing was epic and unexpected, it felt like Jesus was singing or something

I though it was OK, it definitely wasn't the best episode, but it felt a little rushed, and the songs, While they were good, there were a few too many for a 30 minute episode. I did really like all the references to older episodes, and derpy.

Also, Pinkie's antics, and her southern accent during the second song, were really funny.

She is no longer Twilight Sparkle in my mind.

She is now Twilightacorn Sprinkle.

Didn't like it, honestly. Even if I put aside the fact Twilight is now an Alicorn I still didn't like it.

I'm going to spare the talk about Twilightacorn Sprinkle in this and focus other things instead.

The whole episode felt okay up until Celestia and Twilight entered the weird. "Tv screen Galaxy of stars that doesn't make any sense"

I mean, come on. What even is this?

551488_472870136095407_1331425321_n.jpg

The episode also felt really rushed, it went from good. To complete madness towards the end.

The only other thing, is that it didn't feel like a season ender. Usually their is a Villain, and two parts.

What even happened to Sombra? He should of came back.

Now the only Villain is Twilightacorn assassinating the show's flow and some of the fandom. Hopefully the other two parts that are being rumored for season four defeat this evil villain.

What was that... I may have to re-watch that. Worst episode yet. The amount of dialogue (which I love) is nonexistent. Way too rushed. This should have been in AT LEAST 2 parts. Hasbro is just having orgasms and screaming "done! She's an alicorn! Now everypony will stop talking about it. Yup."

Just finished watching. My critical skills are about dead from song right now, but I'll review as best I can.

I get the feeling this was meant to be the series finale. There was doubt whether or not there would be a Season 4, so they made the best of it. Twilight's now a princess - and more importantly, a graduate - so the only real plot arc (aside from the CMC) has been successfully tied up. Score one for closure.

Next up, it was too short. This ought to have been a two-parter. The fact that it's a musical helps, and helps a lot, but it still feels rushed. Even an extra ten minutes would've been nice. But the format is a cruel mistress and we must cope as we may.

The songs were good. If any animated childrens' show can pull off a musical with flair, it's this one. Daniel Ingram may not write, direct, act, or draw, but he carried this episode anyhow. Kudos to him.

If there's anywhere I must knock off points, it's conceptually. I still don't see why Twilight must be a Princess. At some point, sure, she was going to officially stop being Celestia's student and move into her career as a magical master of some sort. It's unnecessary, but nothing too horribly wrong has happened, so I won't complain much. Even her outfit didn't bother so much once it was in the episode.

I was happy that at least the reason for Twilight's ascension had something with her talent and the show as a whole. She didn't kill the baddest guy or find the lost pieces of the Griffon MacGuffin. She finished an ancient spell by one of the top spellcasters back in the day. That's got to be the Unicorn equivalent of solving Fermat's Last Theorem or something.

The whole thing was over-the-top epic. Many songs were sung, Princesses were wearing dresses, we got a magical recap set to music in fantasy cloud land, and the ascension itself was made out to be nothing short of miraculous. Good job overall.

MY REVIEW:

Full Version:

I personally was extremely disappointed with this finale, and that's saying a lot, since I loved the rest of the season. No, my disliking of this episode was not due to Alicorn Twilight; I'm actually really, really fine with that. It could lead to a lot of really freakin' cool ideas.

There are a lot of things that made me cringe at this episode. First of all is the pacing. It felt waaaay too rushed. I agree with many people: This episode should have been a 2-parter. The musical-ness of the episode also made me unhappy. I yelled out loud "What the crap!?" when I heard the SECOND song playing 2 minutes in to the episode! Too many songs, seriously!

The idea for the episode also seemed thrown in just to make the whole Alicorn Twilight situation seem right. It was all just really sloppy to me.

There were also some things that just confused me. For instance, they never explained why they needed the Elements of Harmony at all. I suppose in the end that did make sense (you all who have watched the episode should know what I'm talking about) but honestly it didn't fit in at all and only made me confused.

Oi. Just oi. I did not like this episode. The only redeemable qualities for me were the 3rd song ("I've Got To Find a Way") and Alicorn Twilight. Let's just hope Season 4 is better than this episode. (Honestly, for me, this episode just ruined the whole season)

TL;DR Version:

they did a pretty good job on this episode, it gave me some feels. i think it would have served better as a series finale than just a season finale. it had that big movie/dramatic feel, especially the part where celestia meets twilight in (space? i don't know what dimension that was) i wasn't expecting that many darn songs, but hey. daniel ingram always manages to impress, they were extremely catchy. now i'm curious to see what happens in season 4.

also i still wanna know who the buck "princess skyla" is!

I loved the episode. Definitely one of my favorites of the entire series! I do think it should of been longer, although it felt longer then 22 minutes. And we finally saw Twilight "grow up." That was astonishing.

Oh, and the songs were amazing too.

Now to season 4... I don't know how it can still be called Friendship is Magic, since Twilight's learned all about the magic of friendship.

Agreed.  It felt like it was intended to be the series finale, and it might have been (mostly) completed as such before the fourth season was worked out.

I still maintain she's got a lot more to learn.  Perhaps it's just that she's learned all that she could under Celestia's guidance.

While there were some good songs, I dislike this episode since I find the idea of "becoming" a princess (and by association, an alicorn) pretty off-putting. That being said, I still have faith in the show and the writers to change my mind and fix all of this so that season 4 can induce as little cringing as possible. I'm hoping that the rushed pace of the episode is implying that the alicorn transformation story arc is still incomplete and will be continued in season 4.

I just finished watching it about an hour ago, and my head still hurts.  Sure, I loved the songs (I can't stop listening to I've Got to Find a Way), but the episode just seemed way too rushed, and way too much story was crammed into a 22 minute episode.  It was sort of like rapid fire, Twi wakes up, BANG! cutie marks swapped, BANG! problem solved, BANG! Twilicorn.  I think making it a two parter would have improved it a little bit in my opinion.  For me, I would only go back and re-watch this episode just to hear the songs again.  I'll just give the episode a rating of "slightly below OK," as a rushed episode wit good music to re-listen too.

and my head still hurts.

THIS.

This right here is the feeling I've been trying to pinpoint all day!

The finale makes my head hurt!

The gist is basically this:

Alright, cutie marks get switched, Twilight fixes it, finishes the spel- WHOAAAA WHOA WAIT

TWILIGHT, WAHT ARE YOU DOING

TWILIGHT

STAHP

End of episode.

At first I was like "Cool, season finale was pretty good." Then, it started to sink in...and I'm desperately grappling with the episode, trying to make sense of the second half. As it stands...I just can't. I CAN'T DO IT, MAN! It just doesn't make sense. Every potential conflict with Twilight's ascension just isn't there. It's nonexistent. The end was clearly a series finale. No "What's this going to do to my friendships?" or "What sort of new stuff will I have to do?" or the most basic one which was thrown out the window just as I was thinking it, "How the hell do I fly?"

This is the first time I've actually wanted a cliffhanger, and didn't get one. This episode really REALLY needed to be a two-parter, and it just wasn't. I thought Discord's reformation was pushing the line on rushing the story, but this just decided to go full-tilt Sonic GOTTA GO FAST. The is the first episode that has just flat out flabbergasted me.

I thought holding out until the finale would be enough. Now I have to hold out until the season 4 premiere and hope to everything holy that it fixes the mess in my head that this episode caused.

Yes. This is one of those, "should have been a two parter" episodes. Other than that, I have two questions. (1) What exactly is Twilight the Princess of? (2) If she is the Princess of Ponyville, then what will happen to the Mayor? Other than those three things I say, it's a pretty good episode.

(Also, I think it's safe to say the Cutie Mark Crusaders get there cutie Marks in Season 4.)

i agree with this. ever since i heard that Twilight was gonna be an alicorn i was anticipating how they would do it. i was sadly disappointed. <_<   i know i was apart of the minority that was excited for alicorn twilight but for them to rush the show like they did was just wrong. as i was watching the episode i felt like everything was just going to smoothly and i was even beginning to think that there would be no time for twilight to become an alicorn and that it was gonna happen in the season 4 opining. i was wrong. they made twilight and alicorn and the whole thing just seemed lacking. i think that if they made it a two part episode and added more story to it and added some more to the transformation into an alicorn i would have liked it alot more.

i will have to say this is now one of my least favorite episodes but i am still gonna wait and be overly exited when season 4 comes out.
