S02:E15 - The Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000

This is my favorite episode at the moment. I LOVE the song and all those expressions everypony made at the mere mention of cider. It's like some kind of catnip for ponies. I also liked how they diverged from the standard letter to the princess. In my opinion it was just an all around fun episode and gives Applejack her time in the spotlight since it was stolen by Derpy in the last episode.

 

I know I missed plenty of stuff because I've only seen it once but those were the mane things that stood out to me.

I've rewatched the episode a few other times now and I can safely claim that the Flim Flam Brothers Song is now my favorite pony song! The Flim Flam brothers are also among my favorite characters now!

The Flim Flam brothers only turned off their quality control halfway through the competition, so they have a few dozen barrels of good cider and a whole bunch of crap cider. However, when the time comes to prove how "good" it is, they serve up the crap? That single move cost them their entire business strategy in Ponyville.

 

They're officially the worst conmen in the world. They do have a catchy pitch, though, I'll give them that.

Even if they had been, those ponies clearly felt guilty about the Apples being driven out of their home. I dunno that they would have stood for Flim and Flam demolishing Sweet Apple Acres.

It was a pretty good episode, but a perdictable one, though. It just feels like some other shows did this kinda thing.

But it was a good episode! I liked the Flim Flam brothers song. It was also funny with the expressions they made when they drank the cider.

Solid episode. Was entertaining enough because it flew by pretty quick.

 

Rainbow always missing out was funny, did we see tears? Rainbow never cries.

That song. Reminded me a lot of the Monorail song from The Simpsons because it was basically the same premise.

AJ's "letter" to the princess was a nice change of pace and the background music made it funny

Thought this was definitely a cool episode. A little predictable when it came to competition time, but always fun when new characters are introduced. It was a fun episode, but I did feel like it was rushed up. The whole intro was too long, you know, the scene with the line for the cider and then the song took up a good part of the episode, and the competition felt rushed up. Like when Rainbow said to skip the quality checking it was like.

-No.

-Awww, ok...

 

But I thought it was pretty funny, and I almost cried too when Rainbow cried. I've felt that frustration...

The Flim Flam song was extremely catchy. I loved it.

 

I cracked up when Rainbow Dash's cider spilled on the ground and she ended up eating dirt.

 

Apple Bloom was cute, and Granny Smith was awesome. Big Mac got to say "No Deal."

 

All Mane 6 got to help with the competition, which I thought was cool. Each one got to use part of what they're good at to help them out.

 

This show is so awesome. Makes me excited for Saturday every week.

The thing is, all the good stuff was on the bottom and the crap was on top because they were stacking the barrels as the went. They probably panicked and just grabbed a barrel, totally forgetting that they had turned off the quality control. But yeah, they did screw the pooch on that one.

I'm a sucker for old timey things, so i loved the Flim Flam song. For those who dont know, the voice actors were Sam Vincent (Flim) and Scott McNeil (Flam). The "You've got opportunity in this community" line sticked with me for hours.

i liked the episode alot, but one thing, the deal on the competition was the winner is the new CIDER supplier, whoever wins will still have to get their own damned apples... so really the apples only stood to lose a portion of there profits, and if the farm isn't fully in their name w/o lien then why have they been building new barns with debt owed? they should have been perfectly well off regardless of outcome.

Like everyone else said the song was indeed catchy.

But the best part was Rainbow Dash eating dirt.

Oh my God, I loved this episode. The Flim Flam Brother's song just made it in my opinion. It was the best song I've ever heard on the show. I really enjoyed that musical-y feel to it. (Yes, I know it's a reference to The Music Man, which I have never seen) It's so catchy that I've watched it several times. The guys who voice them should totally return to do more songs. I love their singing style.

 

And the animation during it? Great. I love the brothers' theatrics and choreography during the song. Am also quite enchanted with how the ponies kept bending their legs up and down... it made it feel really old timey. It was like: "Cider, cider, cider, cider!" Rainbow Dash's face during that was just priceless.

 

The ponies really do love their cider. I don't blame them. I love apple juice almost as much... so I'm sure cider would be pretty damn good too. It does seem like pony nip to them... like apple juice is to me.

 

Other than that, I liked the adult themes of business and money. Once again made the show seem more realistic. Also, I'm sure the brothers could've very well found apples other than the Apple Family's orchard and actually run them out of business if they had won the competition the right way. What I enjoyed as well is that I thought the moral was going to be some stereotypical "don't rely on machines, hard work and manpower is the way to go," but the Super Squeezy Cider thingy (can never remember the full name) made cider just as good as the old fashioned way at first. It even had quality controls.

 

It was just that the brothers turned that off and that's when things got out of control. I also expected the machine to explode when they said MORE POWER, but was glad it didn't. These two things totally exceeded my expectations.

 

The one thing that caught me off guard like most people as well though was... Applejack's letter to Celestia. Genius. And continuity nods! I liked the music when she was writing the letter too and her little prancy animation at the end. Even if it seemed off-model... which is one complaint I have about this episode. Some of the ponies seemed kind of off-model at times. But it was mostly good.
