None42069 520 February 21, 2013 Share February 21, 2013 How would you like to grow into a tree after you die? This is a Bios Urn, a completely biodegradable urn that contains a single tree seed. When planted, the tree seed is nourished by and absorbs the nutrients from the ashes. The urn itself is made from coconut shell and contains compacted peat and cellulose. The ashes are mixed with this, and the seed placed inside. You can even choose which type of tree you'd like to grow!So which would you prefer; leaving behind a tree or a tombstone?
Leafeon 2,702 February 21, 2013 Share February 21, 2013 I'd prefer to donate my body to my local university. They run a program that allows students to dissect donors' bodies. Pretty awesome though. Kamarat 103 February 21, 2013 Share February 21, 2013 Hmmm, both tombstone and tree sounds great and I'm not sure. Tree one is really funny and positive though. But tombstones are cool too. I'm pretty tied. I guess I won't mind very much. But did you say ashes? I don't like the idea of ashes though. Make a normal tombstone D:
Mephala 2,633 February 21, 2013 Share February 21, 2013 I'd rather be a cadaver for a lab of some sort or an organ donor, which is what I plan on doing, so no, I'd rather not be a tree. I'd probably just get cut down anyways.
MelancholicMemory 2,025 February 21, 2013 Share February 21, 2013 That certainly is interesting, though I, personally, intend to live forever or die trying. If I were to die though, I would want to donate my skull to a theatre to do performances of Hamlet, and the rest of me would go out viking style; pushed out to sea on a flaming raft with all of my stuff. Funnily enough, that would actually be bad for the environment, so some people will have to be trees just to make up for my insane plans I think an even more interesting question would be: assuming you did become a tree, what kind of tree would you be? I would want to be an apple tree. Red delicious, specifically.
Shanks 10,816 February 21, 2013 Share February 21, 2013 I would prefer to donate my body to science, if there are any parts that could save anyones life I am all for it since I am already dead and not using them anyway why not? If I can't for some reason do that than I could pretty much care less what happens to my corpse. Rarity Get's Cockroaches
Flare Fire 15 February 22, 2013 Share February 22, 2013 I'd be a tree on fire that doesn't harm the earth A tombstone would just be boring but a tree would be like having a 2nd life just no school 1 This is MY signature >.< Don't steal it. Celtore 2,770 February 22, 2013 Share February 22, 2013 That's actually a really interesting idea. I think I would rather leave behind a tree rather than a tombstone. I think that the tree idea leaves a bit more of a positive message than leaving behind a cold cement stone. A simple plaque would be nice in front of the tree though, something to leave behind a message.
crazitaco 596 February 22, 2013 Share February 22, 2013 (edited) i would like to be a tree i actually really love the idea. and i would pick maybe a pecan tree, cause texas and stuff. plus i love pecans. or grapefruit tree, i love grapefruits even more. either way i'd want to be a tree that bears fruit, so i can give back to people after i die. also, when the tree gets older, someone can carve in "Here lies *real name*. She always wanted to be a tree" Edited February 22, 2013 by crazitaco 1 *Click the picture to join the Nega-Bronies!* "Every cloud has a silver lining" *except for the mushroom-shaped ones which have a lining of Caesium-127, Strontium-90 and other radioactive isotopes. Lost 1,410 February 22, 2013 Share February 22, 2013 You could buy a large plot of land and have a tree for every member of your family that dies, after a few hundred years you would have made an entire Forrest of your family members that wouldn't be able to be cut down because of it being private property! I want this now! You know, if we all became trees after we die, we'd probably become carbon neutral (absorbing as much carbon as we have put out over our lifetime) 2 Your friendly neighborhood alcoholic motorcyclist Life is too short to worry what others think of you, be creative, be weird, live life. Betez 1,734 February 22, 2013 Share February 22, 2013 Honestly, that sounds kind of cool. Although, if I get cut down, then I guess I'd be dead, and couldn't come back. Anyway, I think it would be worth it. Virulence 254 March 7, 2013 Share March 7, 2013 A tree? Hmm. Weirdest question. No thank you. It doesn't seem like fun. All you would do is just stand there. All you are is a tree. Starflower 323 March 7, 2013 Share March 7, 2013 Becoming a tree sounds like fun, but it's not really fun when you are rooted to the ground and you're like....not moving. xD I'd rather be buried underground (or use my skeleton as a display at the family hall of fame) than be something that can burn easily. Concord 1,982 March 7, 2013 Share March 7, 2013 Hello! It's interesting, and could become very convenient to get rid of the bodies without using up to much space for cemeteries... Though the thought that most trees around you are grown using dead people's ashes is a little creepy... I'm not to sure really... It depends on where the tree would be situated in... I'd rather not if my tree would be cramped in between many others, but if it were to get a nice spot, along just a few or one tree, i'd much rather become a tree... Tree + Some sort of memorial stone... Thank you MatrixChicken for the Signature!
Harmonic Revelations 8,835 March 7, 2013 Share March 7, 2013 I would not like to turn into a tree when I die. It wouldn't leaf me too much to do, and I have deep roots in some other stuff too that wouldn't allow me to get into it. Not to dampen to mood or anything.
~Chaotic Fireball~ 499 March 7, 2013 Share March 7, 2013 Sounds cool, but I'd wait until I die to be turned into a tree, because then I couldn't type on my laptop or play video games. nd anyways, you wouldn't be aware that your ashes are being used to nurrish the tree because you're dead anyways. But I'll think about it "Mama told me not to waste my life, she said spread your wings my little butterfly. Krimson Dawn 17 March 7, 2013 Share March 7, 2013 I'm not a very...eco-friendly individual, but this is a pretty neat idea. I always figured I'd donate my body to science or be cremated to sit on my mother's bookshelf of relatives. It is an awesome thing to leaf behind. edpedrero 25 November 30, 2013 Share November 30, 2013 hmmmmmmmmm idk. If I were to become a tree I would have severe disadvantages. I technically be something alive so I am not dead. And that goes against the laws of nature. Plus where would I planted? Would I be able to make other tree friends? What if the tree society puts me under strict rules? What if a family of squirrels or woodpeckers decide to make their home inside me? And you wanna know the worst? DOGS! freaking dogs! Nope! I take it all back! I will always prefer the tombstone when I pass away.
