I support Twilicorn! I'm still disgusted, though, at how divided the bronydom is divided on this decision made on the writers' part. I just happen to have hope that this will be a good change for the show.

I really think that when it comes to any decision, there will always be a difference of opinion. I'm optimistic about the change, and given the writers' track record, I think that season 4 will be a great one.

I second that, and despite all the flaws that the writers accidentally slipped into some of the past episodes, I still consider their work to be a grade A effort.

I know their not invincible, but they are extremely powerful, and btw in my opinion, celestia lost out of p.I.s, not becouse she's weak, or chrysalis is more powerful, I mean if she used the power of love to defeat celestia, then wouldn't that mean cadence is more powerful than her? LOVE>SUN?

Cadance is not more powerful than celestia, because she couldn't beat chrysalis alone, she had to have Shining for that, as far as I can see, alicorns are not any more powerful. They honestly ruined Twilight for me. Maybe (And probably) I'm missing something but I really doubt they'll be able to carry Twilight any farther now. in fact I would not be too surprised it the next was her last season, or even this one. It's sad, but probably true.

I understand where your coming from, but you misunderstand me, I'm not saying alicorns are invincible, far from it actually, but they are powerful, its just that my reason for disliking twilicorn is different from most, the real reason I don't support twilicorn is becouse, if twilight has finally reached princess hood, then what is left for a goal? What would twilight possibly do, now that she has the highest rank and honor in ponykind? Think about it, what would naruto have left to accomplish if he became hokage in the next episode? What would luffy do next if he became pirate king? There's a reason, why ash kachem never has and never will become pokemon master, its becouse if you give the hero the grand prize, then what's left to gain? That's all I have to say, thanks to anyone who listened to my rant, maybe this will help some people see my side of the arguement. /)

Lauren Faust previously stated that her plan was for Twilight to eventually supplant Celestia as the ruler of Equestria, so there's that. I really don't like that idea, but it seems inevitable.

 

I do understand what you mean, though. It's a lot easier to relate to and be interested by someone working towards their goal rather than someone who's already reached it. One series that actually had its main character reach their goal (being a famous actor) early on was Extras by Ricky Gervais. (One of my favourite comedy series of all time) The thing is, the series ended with him coming to the realization that he doesn't want to be famous, that he was happier when he was a nobody without the responsibilities. Personally, I would consider this a much more fitting scenario for Twilight but I sincerely doubt that the writers would take that route.

 

I think at this point the writers will have a hard time keeping everyone happy because everyone has different ideals regarding Twilight's role as princess and the changes to the show as a whole. Given the Twilicorn backlash and the recent drama over Equestria Girls, a lot of bronies are going to need some real convincing once season 4 hits.

Want my opinion? It's been a few months since MMC, and all the rage should have subsided by now. But if you honestly still hate Twilight as an Alicorn. You need to calm down. It's over, she has wings, the moment has passed. You need to make peace with it or else you'll let your anger blind you to everything good about the change.

 

And before anyone starts spitting acid about how you can't just "get over it", I'd like to remind you that this is a cartoon. It's not like someone killed your family and I'm telling you to man up. No, I'm just saying that I think it's time to move on from being mad about a change to a show, that If I remember correctly prior to this point, was something that everyone was craving: A break from Status quo. If anything, focus your anger on the Hiatus. At least then we're all on equal ground.

While I do like Alicorn Twilight, I also agree with you about Equestria Girls.  I thought it was just going to be the "Friendship is Magic" characters, if they were human girls in high school instead of ponies.  I didn't realize it was going to be about pony Twilight traveling to a human world and becoming a human.  Now that I know what it is really about, I am a lot more interested in seeing it.

The main reason that I can't get my head around alicorn Twilight is because it just came up suddenly at the end of the season. There was a slight hint at the end of the crystal empire episode of something that was going to happen to Twilight then nothing until the last episode. Even then it was just songs, spells then boom Twilight's an alicorn (I did like the episode though).

I think when season 4 comes out  and we have seen more development around alicorn Twilight more people will get used to it and like it.

I support Twilicorn! Just because she has wings now doesnt mean shes a different pony! I'm suprised at the outrage by her becoming a princess...I thought more people would be excited instead of angry. Besides, think of all the new episode possibilities! What if the power of being a princess goes to her head and Twilight gets all crazy and glowy-eyed like when she hatched Spikes egg! Or something else CRAZZAAYYY!!! I, personally, am stoked.

Twilicorn will make a whole new turn in the series and give twilight a lot of character development, and the season 4 premiere will have much more possibilities than it would without twilight alicorn, and the story could also possibly get deeper from this, because at some point it could just be Twilight alone, without Luna or Celestia to guide her, so i love the Twilight alicorn idea more than ever!

There are all sorts of good articulate reasons to like or dislike the changes, and I respect people on either side...it's fine to still want to talk about it, but at least the anger has finally subsided.

I think when I say that I sometimes wish the fandom never existed is just because of personal experience. My best MLP memories have to be when I first discovered the show and spent every evening for about 2 weeks watching episode after episode. (This was somewhere in the middle of season 2 at the time) While I do love many aspects of the fandom (especially fanfiction, of which I am an avid reader and writer) I've also had my share of grief and annoyance, and have come to dislike certain aspects of it.

 

What I mean is... my best time with anything pony related had nothing to do with the fandom itself. I just sat and watched episodes like an excitable child, laughing and singing along. It reflects my experience with the Tekken fandom, which I left about 6 months ago despite having played Tekken for nearly 18 years. Though to be fair, I went through a lot more grief in that fandom than I have in this one.

 

I'm not saying that I actively wish for the fandom to burn, but some days I do have to wonder if things would've been better if I'd never joined the fandom in the first place.

My support for Alicorn Twilight would probably best be described as cautious optimism. Through I was scared out of my mind when it first happened, I've since calmed down and realized its not that bad. I mean, Twilight sure as hell deserves it for what she's done for Equestria. She also did none of those things without her friends, but that's another argument for another day. I'm still nervous about it but I trust the show staff, I'm sure they can pull this off.

I think this is because is a lot of people's imagination , Alicorns were established as gods. Even though it certainly wasn't said as such in the show.

I see a lot of people saying there are a lot of Twilicorn haters in here. Fact is there aren't so many. And those who really hated the change when it happened left the fandom. They were pretty vocal the weeks that followed Magical Mystery Cure, but today we don't see them much.

And now comes the anti-wave, the one that says "We love you Princess Twilight", because the ones who don't like the change have taken a chill pill and calmed down, or left. I support the change, for all the new possibilities this brings, but sine don't and I understand the reasons why. I just think we shouldn't shun it, because of all the possibilities it brings for Season 4 and the others to come (if there are others, but I am optimistic on this one).
