Oh, so because Celestia had good intentions, it made what she did alright? How Machiavellian.

And you keep overlooking the fact that Twilight wasn't asked, the manner of witch she became an Alicorn was that she was forced into being one. Celestia exploiting Twilights flaw in order to create the mess in Ponyville, creating a situation where Twilight had 2 options.

A- Fix the problem

B- don't fix the problem and leave her friends all messed up and blaming herself for that.

But Celestia knew that Twilight would fix the problem, thus knowing that Twilight would turn into an Alicorn. But Twilight didn't know, all she knew was that she wanted to prevent 'B', she didn't know that 'A' would lead to becoming a princess. So it wasn't a test, it was just a vehicle for deception to coerce Twilight into becoming an Alicorn.

A ploy, and Twilight was the patsy.

It's a kid show, bra. I don't think the writers were trying to create an overly complex story line like what you desire. It's just simple entertainment that shouldn't be taken too seriously.

It doesn't have to be complex, but it also doesn't have to have issues like that either.

Despite a few downright STUPID episodes, namely 'Mysterious Mare Do Well' and 'Magical Mystery Cure', this show is good, I just wish they were consistent with how good it is.

But Holy Hell, what if Celestia being a master manipulator in 'Magical Mystery Cure' was intended?! That (as unlikely as it is) could make for some very brilliant storytelling.

I like the idea, I think it's cool and all. But I have one issue, and that is how rushed it felt. That's really all. I feel like they could have done so much more with the idea, it's like the guys at Hasbro were running dry on ideas or something. I feel like a more open communication between the fans and the company would help that in some ways. If there was a way to post ideas to a suggestion page or something.

My first thought was "NOOOOoooo!!! What is going to happen to the show!!!??" but the more I brood on it, I have a feeling it should turn out fine and I am very curious what season 4 is going to bring. =D

Twilicorn is actually kinda cool in my opinion. Watching Twilight ascend into the sky glowing as she underwent her transformation, was really one of my favourite moments in the whole show.

I think Twilicorn will be a good change to the show, as long as she stays with her friends and keep learning about the magic of friendship!

My thought about princess alicorn twily is still the same since those 3 minutes, Dear Celestia what have you done.... It just doesn't sit well with me for one mane reason.

The fact she's a "princess" probably means she will be given some sort of area to look and guide over. Even in equestia girls, twily addresses this concern. If she is given that responsibility, we can almost guarantee to see less and less of her. I mean, the other princesses have only like 2 hours of screen time is it? (excluding Celestia) I can twily being no different.

Which is huge because a good majority of the show revolves around her, and by changing that either HASBRO has done something brilliant, or has potentially destroyed the show. Im extremely interested to see how lauren will address this matter, but until that day, my position is still that Twilicorn is a horrid idea

You're, again, either forgetting, or blatantly ignoring the fact that MLP:FiM is first and foremost a kids show, it's not meant to be taken this seriously nor is it meant to be 'interpreted' in such needlessly complicated ways.

your idea of Celestia being some manipulative villain will never happen in the show's canon 'cause one of the things even most kids would call fowl on is inconsistency. And that's cause if characters are suddenly derailed or made unlikeable, especially if the reasons for it are never explained, it will confuse children and make them lose interest in the story.

Which is why Celestia never has been and never will be an actual villain, tyrant, or any of the sort. 'cause both the show and comics portrayed her as a genuinely wise and benevolent, if slightly eccentric, co-ruler of a nation. And whatever nitpicks some 'fans' give out as filmsy excuses to pretend she's a villain are not gonna change how she's portrayed in the show in any way.

Why don't we ever see humans in Equestria?

they're hiding, the ponies stole all their clothes.

Ivan looking forward to Alicorn twilight for a lot of reasons. 1. More episode verity, I always thought that this was the reason for twi becoming an alicorn, the writers wanting some pony, maybe rainbow, to teach twi how to fly, I'm willing to bet that's why she couldn't fly in EQ because of this.

At first I was 95% against, but willing to see if the writers could pull it off competently with Magical Mystery Cure and actually explain what the coronation/ascension would entail and how it would affect whether or not she would leave her friends to rule a kingdom similar to the Crystal Empire, leave Ponyville with her friends to learn how to become a princess in Canterlot or some other location, would she even need her friends or the Elements anymore with her increased magical power?

I was greatly disappointed that all of these points were either glossed over or outright ignored thanks to the musical numbers severely cutting into the time that could have been used to address these crucial details.

After that I was simultaneously seething with rage and drowning in disappointment at how poorly the most important finale to date was handled.

Then after a few months I stopped caring altogether, deciding to uneasily wait and see if the Season 4 premiere will be as poorly executed as 'The Crystal Empire' and MMC.

Maybe it will be better now that they aren't strapped for time to work on another movie...so there's hope but, I'm not exactly holding my breathe either-in case, it's another musical episode.

But, that's probably just because I'm a cynical person and am used to disappointment.

Twilight Sparkle and the Crystal Heart Spell go over some of that, that Twilight would relying on her friends for help, and that she would not be leaving Ponyville by her own choice an well.

That and though it wont be canon to the show I also believe Equestria Girl gives the viewers an idea on how the writers will be handling Twilight's change.

I don't think that book was canon, since Trixie is still an antagonist with it and hanging out with Gilda for some reason...so, I have trouble accepting anything it says as it was clearly written before 'Magic Duel' even aired.

"My Little Pony: Twilight Sparkle and the Crystal Heart Spell by G. M. Berrow, aka Gillian Berrow, is the first book in the My Little Pony Chapter Book series. Steve Scott is credited for its cover design, and Meghan McCarthy was consulted about one part of its story. Its story is set after the third season of the show. Its cover and interior illustrations reuse artwork of Twilight Sparkle as a Unicorn, despite her being an Alicorn in its story."

"My Little Pony chapter books licensed by Hasbro are published by Little, Brown and Company. Each chapter book in the series features a different pony character, has an original story that ties in with events in the My Little Pony Friendship is Magic show, and includes bonus activity pages."

So...Trixie is evil again?

Even after the end of 'Magic Duel'?

Wow...I'm not going to lie, I'm a fan of character redemption, especially in a series like Friendship is Magic.

img-1946764-1-sad.png

Hmm, it would seem a big part of that is because of Gilda's influence on Trixie... though honestly I wouldn't be surprised if she fell back into her a bad habits, I mean she 'was' a very vain and egotistic pony. Realistically that wouldn't change just like that.

Also Trixie was never evil, though she is flawed and unpleasant in her personality, her vainglory just the sort of thing to keep ponies away.

Whether or not Twilight became an alicorn, I would still have watched the show anyway. I guess it's good in the sense that there will be new material, but it's not always easy to deal with change.

Since the beginning of the show, Twilight has been the clear main character. While there are the Mane 6 who play the role of the main characters, the story is centered around Twilight and her lessons that she has learned. The only problem I personally have with Twilight becoming a princess is the amount of time it took to get there. It should have been saved for a little later, but that's just my opinion.

I feel like it was sort of a bad idea.

I feel like it's overdone a bit. For some reason I don't know why I dislike it though. Maybe because she is my least favorite in the Mane 6

I have no issues with Twilight becoming an alicorn. Until that point, I didn't even know that was possible. I thought one was born an alicorn, not made into one, so that was a surprise, but not an unpleasant one. If anything, I'm now more excited for Season 4 because I am curious to see how her becoming an alicorn will affect her life, her friendships (if at all), and how that will be implemented in future episodes since now her role has shifted from being a student to a princess.

I do actually. It gives quite good chances for the rest of the show to end up good, even better, now that Twily has wings and crown. No longer being a student, she can encounter much different problems from the ones she had earlier, but still she has so much to learn, mainly since she's now in politics blah blah, and actually grown-up. I believe the whole it's a whole new era (for Twi, mainly), but not something that will change the things which made MLP unique, drastically.

Of course, they could ruin these chances too, misuse this and make the show totally stupid. But I believe they won't. They made three amazing seasons already, so I don't see why not making some more amazing episodes!

I do believe Twilight deserved such a reward, and I'm happy for her. I just hope she won't become a braggy princess, and that she'll remain living in library and only going to Canterlot when she really needs too. But I believe in her =)

Go, Twilicorn, go! <3 Don't give up!

Just seeing where the consensus is now that some time has passed and the idea has had some time to sink in in the community.

So, now that time has passed, has your opinion of Twilicorn changed?

Its not as if not supprting it will do anything. So yeah, im indifferent on what changes overcome characters, unless it goes against the canon of the show itself.

I personally strongly dislike Twilicorn. The fact that one of the Mane Six became almost equal to Princess Celestia and Princess Luna seems idiotic to me. If somepony is to become Princess, I suggest Rainbow Dash. Rainbow Dash is obviously best pony, so why not make the best flyer in all of Equestria one of the leaders of the nation. She would be a great ruler, and make Tank the honorary Prince. He would get to wear a professionally made hover device.
