Please answer the poll question, and reply to this thread to elaborate on your answer, especially if you chose anything other than option #2. If you have not uploaded all of your pony tracks to Pony.fm, and/or don't plan to upload all of your future tracks there, I'd just like to know why.

That, and the hope that Pony.fm will become an extensive archive for the fandom's music. If you don't have all your pony music on Pony.fm, knowing why that is would help in understanding what you look for in a music hosting platform as an artist.

 

I'd like to make Pony.fm attractive enough as a pony music website for you to feel comfortable hosting your entire pony discography on it, and am willing to modify the site to make that happen.

I made some pony music specifically for Pony.fm to be honest, so my two current tracks are on there. If I do decided to make some more pony music, it will definitely be put up there.

I'll be trying to finish my tracks soon. When I do, I'll be sure to upload everything I can. Probably my songs right now would only be about 2 minutes. Next time, I'll do something worth 3 or 4 minutes if people like that a lot. I usually like short but sweet songs. Long and sweet works too.

Alright, now I can explain why none of my music is up yet (except for a horrible piece of ear rape that I should probably remove)

Basically I just compose for pony games and I'm not uploading (and as consequence of this, spoiling) any of the tracks until the game(s) get released.

Yep. All of my pony's there, and all of my future pony tracks will be as well. I doubt it'll ever be exclusively on Pony.fm (I have a website, YouTube, and SoundCloud), but I'll be looking to point as much traffic as I can to my Pony.fm page a bit later down the line, notably in regards to where download links are at right now. Hopefully, my Pony.fm page will eventually turn into a sort of fan hub for people that like my pony stuff but couldn't care less about all the VGM remixing/covering I do.

Why aren't all my tracks up there?

I really don't like my older pieces (about one year old) that much and feel like they don't deserve to be on there. This includes Cupcakes (Fanmusic from Fanfiction), Album for a Dashing Rainbow, which I believe is completely left-panned, and also Twilight Fantasy for piano, which I just find boring now, though I might remake the first movement of TwiFantasy, cuz Twi, cmon it's TWI.

I have a LOT of music already out and eventually i'll compile and publish 3 albums worth when i have some new tracks to sweeten the appeal of albums 2+3. Once i release each album I'll make sure to add them to bandcamp and pony.fm as I'm sure many of these will be new to many people (the point of collecting them in album form). New tracks that aren't album focused I'll add to here and my soundcloud as they emerge.

Even if you don't like some of your older tracks, some of your fans might. Pony.fm is intended to serve to some degree as an archive, so you are welcome to upload music you made when you were less experienced for completion's sake.

 

It is your music at the end of the day, but my goal is to make Pony.fm your favourite place to release pony tracks, so... YouTube getting some of them and Pony.fm others might signal at a need for me to improve something on Pony.fm.

Is the long time it takes to upload lossless files the main deterring factor for you? I'm not sure if you do it, but compressing a track to FLAC before uploading it can vastly reduce its size.

 

The Pony.fm uploader was designed to let you throw as many tracks as you want into it and let them upload overnight or in the background, with no disruption to you. Is there a particular reason you are averse to doing this?

Nothing needs to be changed at all - if anything, it's quicker than SoundCloud (although not as detailed). It's just a matter of me blocking out some time this weekend to actually work on music.

 

I also have an ear infection, which means that everything sounds underwater to me. I can't really do anything music related until it clears up.

I uploaded only one song, but now I have some troubles uploading new songs... 
That "drag and drop" seems to not working well, but I think it's because I'm using an outdated browser (Opera 12.16, I also tried to upload with explorer 9 and the upload didn't work neither).

I think they should use an alternative uploading system (if you can't upload click here).

 

PS: I have an outdated browser because I'm using my old laptop with single cpu and few ram (only use it during the holidays, such as now), and newer browsers "eat" a lot of ram for nothing.

It never let me down since 2006

I would like to, but I have tried once before and after an hour of it trying to upload, they all fail at once. I feel that the file type requirement is a bit restrictive and I haven't tried since. I also do not think that my music is any good but it is the first reason that is the main problem. Perhaps I should try again. If it does work, I may upload a few at least, then the rest later on.

Some of them but the thing that keeps me from doing it easily is that you can not upload MP3's which are smaller and are raw audio files. If you let us upload MP3's and have a drop down menu or something like a file explorer so we can get our files then that will be awesome. I mean like because I'm using Google chrome it won't let me drop files into the browser.
