I noticed this the first time I watched. I wonder why people always think zecora is most like demoman when this guy exsists.

I actually spoke to someone a couple of months ago that explained how this error may have occurred. Basically, since the animation is handled by multiple people, sometimes a task is finished partway by one person and then supposed to be completed by another person. This background pony was supposed to turn his head to face the camera, and so the edit job was halfway finished, with an extra head pasted on while the head behind was supposed to be deleted. However, at some point down the line, the animation job didn't get finished for some reason, either because notes were lost or production was rushed or something else happened.

 

Hence, the animation error we see in the show. It's bizarre, but stuff like that happens occasionally. Me, I don't really see it as noteworthy except for being somewhat creepy until you understand why it happened.

The fact that we look at errors as opportunities for characters is pretty funny, but also awesome. I bet it helps the animators relax knowing their mistakes are reworked by the fandom.

I'm pretty sure it's a animation mistake or a last minute decision, but in this picture one eye is closed, yet the other s wide open in an awkward wink. Thinking about it more, it would be a really really weird sinister wink?

 

but what do you all think? Animation mistake, Last minute change, or on purpose?

I remember someone compared this screencap with a famous painting or photograph or something, and it was strikingly similar... With the whole one eye open and the other closed thing. Don't remember what it was though

The animator makes many mistakes my friend but in Soviet Russia WE MUST FIGHT ANNOYING PARENTS THAT WANT TO KILL MLP!
