I was impressed by the Season 3 Finale's 3D effects for sure. Especially the scene where Twilight is looking out the window talking to Spike.

When Chrysalis changes from Cadence to her true form is creepy, and interesting to look at.

 

 

Also, the fight scene was excellent.

Here's a great video explaining Fluttershy's dramatic turn and why it's so visually impressive. No other great examples come to mind at the moment, but they're definitely there, and I'll think about it.

The most visual moment that I have scene was the scene where Twilight stares at the door under the Crystal Kingdom, while Spike is calling her.

Probably the sonic rainboom in "Sonic Rainboom." It's as awesome as it is colorful.

 

To be honest, I think that every second of every episode is visually impressive. Beautiful animation, colorful and vibrant character design, cool backgrounds, etc.

i was impressed during pinkie pies dance about zecora, which was more known for being impressive for the lyrics.

Honestly, the one moment of the show that I really loved that I thought was visually stunning would have to be the scene in the Royal Wedding when Princess Cadance and Shining Armor used their love for each other to expel Queen Chrysalis and her minions out of Canterlot.

 

this easily has to be one of my all time favorite scenes in the whole series because of how epic it was

The Nightmare Moon in the hourglass was a really nice touch that I didn't even notice until listening to commentary on the episode by the animators.

The Timber wolves looked incredibly cool, even though they did seem a little out of place style wise.

It was almost as though they were made with 3D models.

I think that title goes to the defeat of King Sombra at the end of The Crystal Empire:
 

 

The reasons why it's my favourite should be self-explanatory. Thrilling end to the pilot.

 

Other favourites include:

• In the paint drying test in Too Many Pinkie Pies, when you had the shot of the Pinkie Pie showing another Pinkie Pie how to sprout fingers, and you could see the amount of Pinkies in the background - the scale of numerousness was very impressive.
• In Hurricane Fluttershy, when the water successfully funnels through their whirlwind in a giant jet. That was also very impressive animation.
• More of an impressive animation on the humour side, the interior of Fluttershy's revolving house in Keep Calm and Flutter On. I loved that, it was like the corridor from Inception.
• The deranged party out of Party Of One. What impressed me was the change from the acidic background of Pinkie's illusions to the actual party table. Really made it feel a desperate case.

The two things that immediately come to mind for me are Fluttershy's training montage and the Failure song.

A lot of beautiful imagery in that montage, especially when Fluttershy flies past Angel in the field of dandelions, one of my favorite moments for sure.

The Failure Song showcases a lot of amazing animation, like Twilight's mane blowing in the wind and the silly dancing.

Oh, and the Babs Seed song as well, kinda trippy stuff going on there with the seed backgrounds in the chorus, nice animation all throughout as well.

The insanity scene from Party of One still has a ton of visual flair in Pinkie Pie's facial expressions, and how the background would frequently change.

1. @@Tall_But_Short_37 said this, but it bears repeating: the slow 3D turn of Fluttershy's head during "Putting Your Hoof Down." Flash animation is something that doesn't get a lot of respect, but DHX really shows us how much you can do with it with this scene. Scenes like this treats Flash as an animation tool instead of a mere cost-cutting measure.

 

2. The walk cycle during "Smile, Smile, Smile."

 

 

It's really the first piece of animation that I noticed which shows me how much season two's animation greatly improved from season one. This is something we wouldn't have seen in season one simply because of how cool, smooth, and advanced it looks to the eye. The song is the second-best in season two, but the visuals helped it even further.

Great idea for a thread

 

My favorite for sure is Shining and Cadence's changeling launcher heart spell.

 

And wowsers, that Nightmare Moon hourglass thing... how did I never notice? It even has a subtle sound effect. Very cool.

 

I also love the scenes in Hurricane Fluttershy looking up through the tornado. Beautiful colors, and the pegasi look interesting from that angle, sort of like a school of fish The dismantling of the tornado at the end is pretty cool too.

 

That sort of tornado vortex thing they do in Winter Wrap Up to vacuum away the clouds is another good one. I think that would be quite a lot more effective than just trying to shove everything away.

 

The first sonic rainboom is awesome. I love that above shot of the ring spreading out... and all the other scenes too.

 

And lastly, Sweetie Belle's drawing. Oh the feels Everything about that scene was masterfully done. The look of love in the drawing, the music, Rarity's expression, and the blurry view from her eyes... please excuse me while I follow the instruction manual.
