Trying to get my friend on the forums

My friend, a fellow pegasister, is reluctant to join the forums. She won't give me a solid reason, but I think it has to do with the rumors she's heard about cloppers on the forums. Can anypony give me some reason for her to get on the forums and "join the herd"?

Try to show her that there are no cloppers, then if that doesn't work. Maybe you could tell her, how we welcome a new person to the herd with a very good welcoming song.

On second, ignore the no cloppers part.

Basically, don't force her too much.

Yes there are some cloppers on here no doubt about it but most of them keep it to themselves and there are plenty of non cloppers as well though. I would emphasize that even though users views may differ on the subject we do for the most part respect each other here and have a very active, friendly and welcoming community.I have a friend of mine who I convinced to join but he dosen't like the character minimum so he lurks for the most part and posts rarely. He goes by the username Inazuma and he is the same friend that introduced me to ponies.

It sounds, to me, like she's either stubborn, shy, or both.

 

You shouldn't force her to do anything, anyway. If she doesn't want to, don't make her. Pushing forward the idea may make her force herself to join, but that's probably not going to end well, as most people who are forced to do things don't like it, simply because of their biased opinion because of that fact that they did, in fact, get "forced" to join.

 

However, if you're still going to make her do something she doesn't want to do... Don't do this:

Why? Because there are multiple. Don't lie. She'll only get more upset in the long run.

I would tell her that there are sites which are devoted to things like that, and this is not one of them. Would also tell her to give it a chance and maybe show her one of the more niche parts of the website like "pony merchandise", which there are not really any cloppers on. As others have said, don't push the no cloppers thing, because that's simply not true.

 

But I don't see that sort of thing discussed on here anyway, so it really shouldn't be an issue. Just don't force someone to join if they don't want to. A few slight nudges here and there may help, or maybe just from time to time show her a funny thread or post from the forum to make her laugh. That might make her want to join and it won't seem like you're pushing her to do so.

Actually it is discussed on here every now and then and the consensus seems to be "yes I am one" or "it is not my thing but I am not going to judge you if you are into it" but there are a hand full of users on here though who have a very negative view of cloppers. Which really baffles me because there is rule 34 in every fandom so singling out cloppers seems ridiculous to me, but I just ignore them as nothing I or anyone else say will change their minds anyway.

Well, what I meant is that it isn't very widespread. I've been lurking these forums for a while now and, yes, it is discussed and brought up in some threads, but it's not really that widespread. Although I will admit that some people crack jokes about it, it's all in good fun, but I guess it's true that some Bronies bash cloppers a lot, perhaps even more than non-Bronies do. Something about making us look bad, I'm sure.

 

And I agree, I don't really get the huge hatred and bashing of cloppers when literally everything has porn of it.

 

But I don't judge anyone because of it either. I just kind of let them be and do my own thing, which is continuing to be a fan of this awesome show and take part in the excellent fandom.

Well first off don't try to force her onto the forums as that's not going to end well. First ask if she's willing for you to show her the forums and just show her that we talk about more then ponies here and that the people here are friendly. If she still doesn't want to join just eave it alone and move on as long as she doesn't make fun of you using the forum it shouldn't be a problem.

Don't push her, don't shove the forums at her at all. That's basically one of the tips I could give you because I've had people turn down my offers to join this forum as well as other forums I'm in. It makes their experience boring and they'll think that you want them there just so they could be members. Let her raise her curiosity levels, give her time to explore the forums as a guest. If she finds that our community is friendly, then it will convince her to sign up. Of course our community is friendly, so why not have her join? The memberbase doesn't bite at all.
