mega thread Last Movie You Watched?

The Spongebob Squarepants Movie. Still a great movie. I'm not sure about seeing the sequel in February because of how terrible the new episodes of Spongebob are. But since Steven Hillenburg was one of the writers maybe it will be good.

Princess Mononoke

Rewatched for the first time since I was in high school. Phenomenal stuff, marred slightly by a bloated final act that doesn't seem to know when to quit (too much animation excess, too little drama). It doesn't kill the movie by any means, but it's frustrating because the first two-thirds offer up some of the most perfectly paced epic storytelling since Seven Samurai.

Still adored it though.

The last movie I watched was on Friday, and it was called "Jack". A great movie featuring Robin Williams about a child in the body of an adult. Some wonderful acting on his part. There were a couple of interesting themes covered in it and it was a great watch for the entire family. Definitely recommend for any Robin Williams fans.

It actually reminded me a little of Studio Gibli's "Howl's Moving Castle" being a younger person trapped in an older body. It goes to show, Something that is truly different can be very strange and wonderful at the same time, but it only makes a person shine ever more brighter in the end.

Seen Interstellar today. It was quite good, not really great or anything though. I was actually falling asleep through the first 40mins or so, but I thought it got better once they got off Earth. But it still felt like all the stuff at the start happened really fast and was incredibly rushed to get to that point. There were some nice ideas and a decent surprise or two, but it was all lacking a bit at times. The film went on way too long, nearly 3 hours, when it really didn't need to and I would've preferred it if it had ended when

Cooper had been left floating around in space/the blackhole after figuring it all out. Or if it had just ended with him when he first went into the blackhole. I was annoyed how Murphy knew her dad was the ghost, fair enough if she'd only come to that conclusion after seeing and figuring out the watch, but she says before she even looks at the watch that she knew Cooper was the ghost...how? That aside though, I really didn't need to see all that happened after Cooper figured out how to save the world.

Nolan kind of proves again though, that he's absolutely terrible at any concept of "romance" and should just stay away from it entirely. There was very little given to suggest/build to Amelia Brand's supposed love for that guy on that planet whose name I don't remember, and then at the end to suggest that

Cooper should go after her as if they're meant to be together

was really tacked on. Not to mention the random kiss from Murphy on Topher Grace's character, reminiscent of, but not as bad as, the same random moment between Joseph Gordon Levitt and Ellen Page's character in Inception.

It's a decent film though, with some nice ideas, like I said. But the fact it's currently sitting with a 9 rating on IMDB is insane.

I watched Big Hero 6 yesterday. It was descent but in my opinion, the plot was weird.

All my life needed was a sense of someplace to go. I don't believe that one should devote his life to morbid self-attention. I believe that someone should become a person like other people.

The Avengers- it was a rewatch actually, as I did not fully grasp it the first time I saw it as the only MCU movies I'd seen at the time were Iron Man 1 and 2, so now that I'm all caught up on the Marvel movies I decided to watch it again. Much better now that I understood what was going on more, the most quintessential Super Hero flick of our time. Bring on Age of Ultron.

Skyward Sword.

Is that a movie? I don't care. The story's so good and it's presented as one.

No it's not a movie. You know, if we don't already have a topic on this, a great discussion can be had on how increased story narrative in modern games are blurring the lines between gaming and film.

I watched Ken Burns Civil War Part 4 last night.

Monsters University - I love this film, I preferred it to the original actually. Little Mike is seriously adorable
