Retro*Derpy 3,183 May 7, 2013 Share May 7, 2013 I wouldn't say judge, but rather I "see" people from their avatars. As stated before, it is a small snapshot of what the user is wishing to see them-self as to others. I don't judge people from their avatar, that is like judging the cover of the book. The only thing I would judge about a user is what is in the post.
Ihei 713 May 7, 2013 Share May 7, 2013 No, I don't! I just judge people by their personality, which is their avatar.. wait, nevermind. I DO WORK AT THE LIBRARY! :D Also, I judge people by what they post. Outgoing stuff, I guess.
Emerald Claus 24,865 May 7, 2013 Share May 7, 2013 Yes. A lot. If I see a avatar of pinkieor fluttershy, I think it is a girl. I actually have to check their page to see if Iam correct ir not. Don't hate me for it:( I feel bad tho. Big thanks to @The Wife of Hawks, @Trix or Treatand @Splasheefor these images!
Sir.Flutter Hooves 2,953 May 22, 2013 Share May 22, 2013 When I see someone posting, I judge them by their avatar. If their avatar is a pony creator image, I immediately direagard their post. Is that bad? Umm...not the best you can do. I usually read their question then judge them . But seriously, don't jusge somepony by thier avatar, some time the pony creator avatars have the best topics. 1 This fantastic signature is made my by awesome friend Rainbow Skywalker! Batbrony 16,054 May 22, 2013 Share May 22, 2013 (edited) Not sure what this is doing in this section, but to answer your question I guess it is bad. TBH, I probably do that myself as well a lot, just automatically, but that doesn't make it right. Not always, mind you, but sometimes. That's one reason I like to still drop into the Welcome Plaza every once in awhile; good way to remind myself that I'm here first and foremost because of the amazing and unbiased community we have here where everypony is welcoming and nopony ideally judges somepony based on experience or number of brohoofs, etc. Edited May 22, 2013 by Batbrony 1 "You'll hunt me. Sir.Flutter Hooves 2,953 May 22, 2013 Share May 22, 2013 Quite the opposite for me. Most of the posts made by people with pony creator avatars, if I even read them, are terrible. Usually filled to the brim with spelling and punctiation errors. Understood, understood. But, did you notice I have a spelling error? All of us make mistakes, and most of time the pony creator avatars are newbies. They are just getting used to things. This fantastic signature is made my by awesome friend Rainbow Skywalker! Zygen 6,066 May 22, 2013 Share May 22, 2013 I wouldn't say its a good thing really, I think you should still give them a chance really, an avatar doesn't necessarily tell you everything. I can kinda understand how alot of pony creator avatar's belong to newer members, but disregarding them all means you might miss out on some good ones. I guess its not a terrible thing, but its not exactly good in my eyes. 2 Thanks to Gone Airbourne for the awesome sig! duidamasterXD 9,627 May 22, 2013 Share May 22, 2013 I try not to, but realistically I probably do to some degree. If something bugs me about the avatar I will take notice, but I try not to let it influence me. A quality avatar isn't necessarily indicative of a quality member. Occasionally I worry about others doing the same to me, mostly related to my mood. Prime example is this avvie: I like it a lot, but I worry about people seeing me as harsh or strict when I'm using it. It actually makes me feel that way too as well. Probably why I try to use the cuter avatars.
Callisto 1,877 May 22, 2013 Share May 22, 2013 I'll admit, if it's a poorly done or low quality avatar, I'll judge a person. Because there's no something that makes me think "bad avatar=bad posts". I don't want to be judgemental like that, it's just natural. Y'know, I've been on this site for almost ten years and I've never had a proper signature. Ain't that something? TomokoKuroki 1,707 May 22, 2013 Share May 22, 2013 (edited) It depends on what the Avatar is of. If it is a pony (say mane 6 or secondary characters like Luna) then my first assumption is they share some sort of a quality. If it is an anime character (depending on the character, what they ar from/what they are doing) then I can form a lot of opinions from that. Perhaps they have an Alucard avvy, that might make me think they like dark themed art/shows. And if I see an Konata avvy, i might think that person is super duper awesome. Then there is the "weird" avatars that no one knows about...they make me think the person is very random, or unpredictable (Smitty does that to me sometimes ). But I often try not to judge bad things from avatars. But the worst I think of is when people use the same vector, just a different pony as an avatar. Such as Shrugpony. It tends to make me think the person is a bit unoriginal, even though I don't know that or not. Edited May 22, 2013 by Hayze
Rainblow H. Ash 5,091 May 22, 2013 Share May 22, 2013 Yes, I do every much actually but I as well scorn for having a homestuck picture due to the fandoms reputation for being EVERYWHERE To be fair, having a pony avatar usually gets the same amount of scorn for the same exact reason, so I'd hope Bronies wouldn't be attacking you for having Homestuck avatars. That'd be kind of... hypocritical. #bringbackmerriwetherwillaims

Wonderbolt_Spitfire 235 May 22, 2013 Share May 22, 2013 I do my best to not judge people by their avatars. I mainly look at people's avatar and usually gawk or laugh at how cool they are. Lisa 5,553 May 22, 2013 Share May 22, 2013 (edited) Yes, if the person owns an avatar with no background, a pony creator image or a low resolution image, I instantly think that person is incapable of writing quality posts. I usually then disregard that post, as I think it will have some mediocre, unintelligent, poorly-written, and pathetic piece of grammar sentences inside of it. Do I feel bad for doing this? No. I really do not care about doing this. If you have a problem with me doing this, and fear that I may not read your post - too bad. Sky Warden 2,243 May 22, 2013 Share May 22, 2013 I usually judge people by their avatar. I will try to avoid someone who wears grimdark avatar. Also, I won't be so interested at a post posted by someone with weird looking OC on their avatar. It can be a pegasus with extreme black colour, lizard eyes, and is made by Pony creator or whatever. Anonymous~ 591 May 22, 2013 Share May 22, 2013 I, for one, do judge people by their avatar, like everyone else, but only slightly. I usually try to "analyze" their avatars to see what kind of person she/he is. Of course, my assumptions based on a person's avatar aren't bad nor negative, no. I just assume that if a person has a PP avatar he is extroverted, and if a person who has a Fs avatar is shy/introverted. Of course, I don't care if the avatar of a person is depressed or happy. That doesn't really mean much to me (I mean, I do care about it, but I don't "hate" nor "dislike" it). I judge people by their actions and things they say/do.But, other people, especially the people who are "normal" or who aren't bronies judge other people by their avatars REALLY seriously. Let's say, a person puts on an avatar that is dark, black, depressing and sad. He's expressing what he's experiencing, which is really good imo. BUT, people don't like it very much and just ignore or start hating that person, because his avatar isn't "happy", which implies he's boring, depressing and a loser. But, if a person puts on an avatar that is colorful, happy, where the atmosphere is "partyish", people are going to be attracted to that person because they'll think that person is super fun, awesome, social, cool and etc. So, what I'm saying that avatars are like an indicator of your personality or mood and all people judge you by analyzing your avatar and people like to see smiles the most while seeing other's avatars.tl;dr P.S.My assumptions come from personal experience, other people's experiences and rather close observations on social forums/websites. 1 shiet got srs guise
