Floofie 799 July 5, 2015 Share July 5, 2015 If someone says they don't like SpongeBob, they're probably referring to the newer episodes. SpongeBob used to be one of the best cartoons ever, but now it's average.

LittleMac 3,085 July 5, 2015 Share July 5, 2015 Bronies hate Spongebob? This is news to me I mean, I'm not a fan of the newer episodes personally, but the older episodes are great
Jon the VGNerd 887 July 5, 2015 Share July 5, 2015 I don't hate SpongeBob, but since Stephen Hillenburg had left, the show was left in shambles and certain episodes had poor morals to it that left the overall quality of a longtime running show completely abysmal. Seasons 1-3 were fantastic, but the rest was left to collect dust afterwards. At least the second movie was great, though I'm not sure if this will be a redeeming factor to a once popular show gone to waste, so I mainly watch MLP nowadays.
Discordian 6,015 July 5, 2015 Share July 5, 2015 I'm a bigger fan of Spongebob than I am of MLP so... I watch Spongebob constantly. I need to get the full seasons in box sets or something cuz I still haven't seen all of the episodes.
SteveMorison 404 July 5, 2015 Share July 5, 2015 I like MLP much more than Spongebob, but the best of Spongebob (mainly 2000-2003) is probably better than the best of MLP, whilst the worst of Spongebob is definitely much worse than the worst of MLP.
Spikey-Wikey 378 November 30, 2015 Share November 30, 2015 I love both. Also, MLP: FiM and SpongeBob aren't really comparable. MLP is a kids show, but with a more running-story line and tries not to break its own canon. SpongeBob is a kids show, but with a more kiddie-crazy like story story-line, and tends to usually somewhat break canon.
Castle Bleck 19,379 November 30, 2015 Share November 30, 2015 (edited) Most Bronies don't hate SpongeBob itself -- just the post-2004-movie episodes. However, Sponge Out Of Water seems to have thrown them a few bones again. Edited November 30, 2015 by A.V. By @Emerald Heart.↑
El Duderino 879 November 30, 2015 Share November 30, 2015 I don't hate SpongeBob. In fact, SpongeBob was one of my favorite cartoons when I was growing up. The movie came out when I was gradually starting to gravitate towards more mature shows, so I haven't really seen much of the post movie stuff. Not that I only watch mature shows. Obviously. But everyone goes through that phase when growing up where they think that cartoons are uncool (well, not everyone, but a lot of people). Usually people come to their senses later and realize cartoons are awesome. Omega Centauri 317 December 2, 2015 Share December 2, 2015 It's not just the MLP fandom that's tired of it, it's just about everyone I know. I think we can all agree that it was among the most iconic cartoons of the early 2000's, and I absolutely loved it as a child. Even as a kid, though, I started noticing a major decline in quality a short while after they made the movie. I later found out that the movie was supposed to be the end of the series, and that the original director, Stephen Hillenburg, had left, but that was released when the show was near the peak of its popularity, so, naturally, they kept it going. Overall, they've run out of ideas. The episodes have gotten increasingly stupid, unsatisfying, and, in some cases, outright disturbing. They have too much of a focus on gross-out and slapstick humor now *cough*The Splinter*cough*. Patrick is still an idiot, but no longer in a way that is at all funny or lovable, he's just stupid, painfully so, in many cases, Spongebob is as well. Squidward used to be a dickhead that would often get his comeuppance toward the end of an episode, but now he's at the ass-end of every other joke in the show for no reason other than the sadistic joy of watching him be miserable. In general, the show has lost most of its charm and wit. If feels way more generic now than it did before. They don't even acknowledge the fact that they're underwater anymore. The more time passes, the more Spongebob feels like a cash cow that should be put to rest while I still have fond memories of it. I've heard the latest season is alright, and that's probably due to the return of Stephen Hillburg. Maybe I'll check it out some time, but right now I just can't be bothered with it. Between now and season 4, I've completely lost interest in it. 1 ...But that's just my opinion.
JeyWiz 1,097 December 9, 2015 Share December 9, 2015 (edited) I'd say that a lot of people in general hate Spongebob. Not just MLP fans. The show has gotten horrible recently. It should've stopped at the 2004 movie. The 2015 movie was alright, but that's the last time we'll ever experience the glory and humour of the Spongebob franchise. cheesy boy 29 July 24, 2024 Share July 24, 2024 I don't know about most ponies but everyone I have seen on the internet shares this cliched opinion that "oh, darling the pre movie SpongeBob was so good but I dislike the later seasons" I hate or rather dislike SpongeBob because it's very annoying. It is absolutely f****** annoying as background noise. yeah you heard it right. My sister who is about 11 years younger than me watched SpongeBob and i could not concentrate when studying. I don't watch the show obviously. But from what I've heard (the background noise) some of the episodes are just torturing Mrs Puff and Squidward for no apparent reason whatsoever. Also a lot of episodes are like " look this is funny because this is random hahaha " . Also Patrick has an IQ of a pickle (that would be an insult to pickles) and SpongeBob himself is not much better (well he is much better but still very stupid). there are good and bad SpongeBob episodes. At best it's a funny show (with some heartwarming elements like Dying for Pie) and it worst it gets bad, really bad like Mr Krabs torturing Plankton to suicide, like what the hell man ! The only show that could compete with SpongeBob in being annoying and putting up quite a fight is Miraculous ladybug and the F****** black cat show . Oh, every character in that show is a retard (no offence to retards). I wish my sister would watch mlp or some other girly show (that is not noisy) but not SpongeBob or the other show i mentioned . End of the post .Bye.
Dreambiscuit 10,092 August 5, 2024 Share August 5, 2024 I hate Spongebob, but it has nothing to do with my love of MLP. You could, of course, compare MLP to Spongebob as a quality show vs a crappy show and find plenty to dislike about the latter, but I could compare many good shows to Spongebob and not just MLP. In my opinion, Spongebob is badly written, badly animated and uninspired. The characters are terrible with the only semi-exception being Sandy. If I didn’t love the ponies I’d feel the same way.
EpicEnergy 23,224 August 6, 2024 Share August 6, 2024 I neither hate or love Spongebob, I simply dislike it for the reason of it not being my cup of tea, so to speak. Also I haven't noticed a particular hatred of Spongebob in the brony fandom. *totally not up to any shenanigans*
