I think it looks really nice, especially the lock screen but one flaw i had with it is that when you slide it, the whole page slides as well, i wish they didnt make the page move while unlocking the phone. Other than that i think it looks nice, looks modern, and fresh looking. And what i thought was pretty cool was when on the lockscreen without unlocking it, and you tilt your iPhone, iPod etc. The background moves as well.

I was really hoping this thread wouldn't appear, as it isn't really a note-worthy thing, I mean, every Apple user will be aware of this, and I simply find the entire construct of making a thread about a corporation changing their operating system lay-out different, even though

changed its logo and operating system lay-out with Windows 8 (although not very much), but there wasn't a big thread about it.

I personally don't really care about the entire thing, I mean it's not like it'll affect me in anyway.

I like the design of it, looks very modern and clean, but then again, I really, just really don't care about it.

Um... I'm pretty sure there was a topic about Windows 8, if not more than one. If there wasn't here (which I very much doubt), I've seen plenty on other forums. I've even seen topics solely about the Windows logo changing.

I don't exactly like the design of the iOS, but I like the backgrounds a little though. The new design is the only thing makes me a little worried.

I've been fiddling with it, having just upgraded, and I gotta say, there's no reason to give it crap. I mean, I don't know a lot about Android, never having owned one, so I can't really say whether it's a ripoff or not. My opinion, however, is that it's definitely an improvement over the old iOS. iOS 7 is just aesthetically more pleasing than its predecessor, and some of the smaller, simpler changes really make the difference.

I notice that, for example, the built-in web browser Safari sucks significantly less than before, and that folders now have multiple pages. The photos app is more organized, and it's easier to access all the basic stuff I used to find myself complaining that I needed. Stuff like a more convenient search bar, a button that turns your phone into a flashlight, the camera, the calculator, the calendar, and toggle settings buttons like bluetooth, airplane, and wifi. These can all be accessed by a simple swipe up or down.

There's also the fact that it's more aesthetically appealing. The dock and folders now simply blur your background instead of obstructing it, as does the top bar. The lock screen is just so much simpler and better looking, and again, it doesn't obstruct the background. And when you type in your numerical passcode to unlock, the numbers take on the color of the background behind it.

Am I the only one that thinks iWindows 8 when I see this? Seriously, it's like a rounded, artsy Metro. I never really cared for Metro all that much, but this is just meh. I'll update though. It's nice to stay up-to-date, and a change in aesthetic can't hurt.

 

I swear to Celestia though, if I can't modify the background, heads will roll. My phone is and shall forever be HAL 9000, period.

The big issue for me is the icons. They are simply to stylized, to narrow and to filled up with gradients, I don't care whether they are flat or not. But I care about their look. Not only are the videos and Safari icons on the home screen horrible looking (like a five year old tried to copy the old safari logo with illustrator) but also there are too many icons that are similar. The notes, tasks, calendar, (that newspaper app), game-center and photos are all on a white background. And many of them look similar to each other.

 

I mean, the game-center app is a set of colored balls on a white background and photos too. And then there is notes and tasks, which are basically black lines on a white background, only difference is that one has colored circles to the left and one a yellow bar.

 

And the worst looking thing I've found to this date is the delete button that appears when you swipe on the mail app. I don't know about iPhone, but on iPad it makes me wanna send the iPad back to apple.

 

The lock screen and the redesigned top and lower menus are something I agree that has improved. But the icons are horrible.

Anyway, while I am an Android guy, I applaud this new change apple did. iOS has been the pretty much the same for a loooong time now. It's nice to see some aesthetic changes now and then. When people freak out about this sorta stuff, I feel like I have to roll my eyes.

Agreed. iOS has been needing some aesthetic changes for a while, and the change of pace is pleasant. Although I may not like the actual design, I still think the effort they put into it was really cool.

I personally like the new design but I can't upgrade since I got an Iphone 3gs (which still works perfectly). I kinda agree with the statement that Apple is dying. Steve Jobs was the real soul of the Apple Company.

I also just realized while fiddling with my iPad I no longer need to download my music or movies! they can be streamed now with a wifi connection.

Same on my iPhone!

Haven't tried it on the LTE yet though, but that alone is an awesome update! No need to spend space on downloading some of these things when the space may be horribly limited! (such as my phone is only a 16gb. Less issue on my iPad since i went all out and got the 64 gb)

This is one thing I do enjoy about the apple products. They LAST nearly forever.

I've had 3 android phones just up and die, 2 of them due to the upgrades in the OS burning out the phones, and one was general hardware failure.

They wanted $100 to replace the hardware failure with a REFURBISHED phone..

 

Had a hardware failure on my Iphone 5 about 4 months ago. Took it to the apple store, FREE brand NEW in box replacement. It wasn't to bad a problem either. The outer volume controls stopped working. But of the Apple products i've used over the years thats the FIRST time I've had such an issue that didn't stem from my Ex's ability to break the unbreakable merely by touching it

Known issue we'd joke about too. She could touch some of those "unbreakable" corelle dishes and it'd shatter, no joke.. her manager at Macy's even witnessed it once.

 

Even then a broken iPhone sells for good money, a broken android.. not so much

Outdated and need an update, and have your upgrade moving in? Selling the old apple product almost pays for the whole new one... 

Pretty insane how the value of the apple products doesn't depreciate very fast.

Sold my iPhone 4 (Not the 4S) and made enough to buy my 5 from it...

 

FYI dun get me wrong anyone, Loved the android phones when i had them tbh, and while they worked they were a dream. But that lack of life, easily busted designs, no real unified architecture, horribly widespread and lacking support for many models.... ugh..  even PC's are better built when you buy from dell than some of those phones

(for those unaware, dell and others design most of their systems to die on purpose. Been sued for it multiple times too... seriously.. the fan placements are a dead giveaway in some...)

I gave up my jailbreak and upgraded my 4S when the GM beta was released. Went ahead and upgraded to the public release.

 

iOS 7 is a very love hate relationship in my eyes. I absolutely hate that dock, and there are some poor design choices like the colors used in certain apps, but overall it's a nice reskin basically. Nothing too impressive about the OS compared to the way 6 worked IMO. Burst mode in the camera app is nice, except most the pics are blurry since it can't focus fast enough, NC feels worse than it did in 6, the CC is a nice addition but it needs customization (I never use bluetooth, DND, or the flashlight to name a few), and the parallax effect is just a gimmick that's hard to notice and is just using resources probably.

 

Somethings were left out that I was really hoping to see though, like lower case letters on the keyboard when not in shift/caps as one example.

 

I mostly just use my 4S as an ipod though since I have a Note 2 as my do everything device (other than music of course, since itunes is much easier to work with than drag and drop IMO) so I don't have to put up with most of the stuff I don't really like since the music app seems fine to me (at least for radio since I use Track8 for my music), and I'm kind of enjoying itunes radio as a change of pace from Pandora.

 

If Apple came out with a wider screen iPhone I might switch phones just because apps seem slightly more stable, but it'll be awhile since they didn't this time around and I'll be upgrading to the Note 3 in December when I am able to upgrade.

 

Gotta love that lockscreen bypass bug that is ever present whenever there is an iOS upgrade though.

I love the new interface. It looks very futuristic. I am using it right now.

 

The best thing is that I can have INFINITE SPACE one folder. It's where ALL MY GAMES will be place into one folder. So yeah

 

I can also use the clock app even if it's locked so you can do your last minute alarm set ups.

 

My favorite iOS 7 ringtone is By The Seaside which sound like a cute Japanese girl waking up in the beach.

 

I also love the revamped everything in OS. It's so MAGNIFICENT!

Apple doesn't have hardware though, Android whomps them in that.

But due to the widespread of hardware designs, they're gimped by the lowest end models. Kinda like how PC gaming is held back by consoles lacking hardware/controls.

But yeah, Android has some awesome hardware, better screens, and sizes.

Hell, Android has home consoles, and PC streaming hardware already.

Even MS can't claim that, and the PC is their market!

stability

compatibility 

and ease of use (since apple has a thing against letting users customize their software... Can't even have custom themes.. I mean wtf? sure BG's, but not much else )

A well moderated app/game store (maybe too well in some cases)

 

if I had to choose one for the list, I'd go with either compatibility or Stability.

Yea, that's true. The actual hardware isn't Apple's, but when I was referring to hardware I more or less meant the actual phone. Their designs are good I think. Ultimate device IMO would be a wider iPhone 5 running Android.

 

Android developers though need to take a hint from the Apple side of things and stop supporting so many old OS's and old hardware. That is why the apps run smoother on an Apple than an Android. Prime example I like to use around here is the Gameloft MLP game. Buttery smooth from day one on my iPhone 4S, but my Galaxy Note 2 had big issues in the beginning and even now it hangs up for a few seconds when certain things happen. It was just about unplayable on my 2012 and 2013 Nexus 7s if you ask me because it lagged so much to move around the world.

 

And while Apple took many hints from Android and WP7/8 with this new iOS, they need to start allowing for customization beyond the wallpaper. I was really hoping I could stick my icons anywhere on my screen without them snapping into place right behind the previous one. When I was jailbroken I had all my folders down the left and the right on my screen with the middle open so I could actually see my wallpaper. Now that I'm on iOS 7 and can't jailbreak yet, I just use a standard wallpaper since you really can't see it anyways, especially since that new dock takes up quite a big chunk of the screen now. Wish there wasn't a frosted background at all on the dock and it would be great. Just like I wish there was a "close all" button on the task manager, and if you closed all the apps running, it would automatically bring the home screen back into focus rather than it having to be tapped. Which brings me to another thing, why does the home button still act more like a back button than a home button. No wonder that button wears out on Apple devices. You click it to leave an app, then click it to leave the folder, then click twice to close apps.

 

Ah well, once it gets jailbroken I'll be able to tweak things like that again. With how many jailbreak tweaks were incorporated into iOS this time, yup even their big fancy parallax feature came out in 2008 I think as a jailbreak tweak, I'm surprised Activator type features didn't where you can shake to go home or tap the status bar to bring up multitasking.
