Unpopular Opinions Regarding the Show

Bloody hell, now I don't know which opinion is the unpopular one!

People disliked Sombra in general.

Here's one. I liked Equestria Games. Honestly, the only criticism I've seen lodged at this episode is the fact that they didn't focus on the games. Well, I for one enjoyed what the episode was, a Spike episode where for once, Spike was not portrayed as either greedy, an idiot, or a punching bag and actually got the respect he deserves. Also, they still did show the games in the background and I for one, enjoyed what I got instead of focusing what I didn't get.

Personally, that's WHY many didn't like him; there was little he offered, aside from impending doom on an "empire."  He had no personality, no relevant contributions, and left no impression except for an empty plot.  It would've been great having some dialogue, more background story, some sort of jokes, ANYTHING more than what they did.  The "mystery" was that he was nothing more than something to defeat.

 

That's the problem when you compare two different types of villains; though. For what Sombra was, he was never meant to be the same as Chrysalis or Discord. Again, people bring up Sauron, but another good example would be The Horned King from Disney's "The Black Cauldron."

Granted he had more lines, but The Horned King was more in the shadows and no where near as involved as say Maleficent or Jafar. Villains like these have no problems with being patient while they spread fear through mere rumor.

 

Now, like Sombra, The Horned King isn't really the most popular of villains, but he does have a bit of a following. Point is that while I can understand your issues with the character, it's really not fair to the character when the criticisms against him don't really fit, IMO.

I totally agree with you, I mean I don't get why they build up the Equestria Games and then when the episode comes to show the games, they don't. Fans wanted to see the games in action and not see outside stuff. No offense to Spike in this episode, but I was excited to see the games, not him.

- Octavia doesn't have quite enough character development to be as popular as she is. Nothing against her, I'm just confused. I do like her design, though.

- Rarity, I love you. But some of your designs are downright silly rather than fabulous. XD Not that they're bad, just... silly.

- "A Friend in Deed" was rushed and cringe-worthy.

None of the characters in MLP are "complex". Their personalities are all relatively simple and easy to understand.

Except that they do fit.  Even the Horned King did something in the movie; Sombra didn't do a bloody thing.

The point being that he didn't have to do much anything. He already had his traps laid out in good fashion and the mere mention of his name was enough to send the crystal ponies into full-on PTSD.

...fair enough.  i will say that I liked how his horn was shown to have survived, giving a possible hint that he might possibly come back.  (Maybe he'll give more of a performance then).

I love every single episode and I don't see any problems in any of them.

 

There is always complaints about a episode, and especially Equestria Girls. I don't see any of those problems because I don't want to see them.

Hmmm, it really depends here on what you would consider "unpopular opinions".

For instance, I've seen some people on here already that have stated that they dislike Spike episodes, assuming that it's already 'popular' amongst the fanbase that they are all liked, whereas I personally would actually defend some Spike episodes as an unpopular opinion because I believe a large section of the fanbase is heavily against Spike episodes.

The same goes with Chrysalis, and whether it is popular or not to consider her a better or weaker villain than others, so it's hard to determine whether thinking she's a great villain or not is unpopular or not. It can be hard to determine whats popular to think or not, since a heavily repeated opinion on the internet may not represent the opinion of the majority. 

Although, overall, I'd say that for the most part, opinions that are negative against the show tend to be the unpopular ones, because I think that as a fanbase, we do dearly love the show, and try not to be negative about it when we can.

That's not what the handbook says... also in the same link. Remember this wikia is fanmade and in all seriousness can't be taken for being 100% true.

While this doesn't say whether or not they are ponies as i said the handbook says it.

I'd say something about ponies I don't like or ones I think are overrated, but honestly, I have no room to talk on that matter. I'll just keep my trap shut about the ponies.

Anyway, I like the G3 opening better than G4's. Also, I wasn't a big fan of the Hearth's Warming Eve episode.
