Will Twilight get taller?

The only reason I ask this is because I was rewatching A Canterlot Wedding and I noticed in the flashback scene Twilight has of being younger Cadence has the same body type, leg length and shape as Alicorn Twilight (and mane 6) has now.




As far as I can tell so far the only real physical change in becoming a princess was the wings, and as most ponies don't have the long legs even though they are considered fully mature (ie mr and mrs Cake) I wondered if this was a feature unique to alicorns that the develop over time, along with other changes.
So anybody else think we will see Twilight looking something like this in the future?

I still doubt that Cadence and Twilight are the same "type" of alicorn as Celestia and Luna. As you said there are some other ponies who have a more mature shape than others.

 

But I doubt that she will get that tall or will ever get one of those ethereal manes. The difference between her and her friends would be too obvious then. I think this is also close to the question if Twilight is immortal now.

 

I think she and the others will maybe grow a bit, until they are as tall as Cadence or Fleur Dis Lee. But not necessarily on screen.

 

And actually, Twilight seemed to be a bit taller in EqG. Especially her neck and horn, I think...

Don't forget that Luna is smaller than Celestia; possibly something to do with a thousand years of hanging around. Luna was on the moon and not in a normal form, as shown by the pony pattern on the moons. So she wouldn't grow, but Celestia might.

I doubt it. I don't think Cadance got any taller, at least not dramatically so.

 

The picture you posted makes me detest the idea, because Twilight appears perfect, and one of the thoughts that make the world go round in MLP is that everyone makes mistakes - even the best of us.

Not necessarily true, as Celestia, we know, is Luna's big sister. It could be that you're right, it could be just another random plot hole, or it could be Celestia is taller, just because.

I'm not sure. Cadence and Twilight have a different body build than Celestia and Luna since, Celestia is taller than Luna but Luna still has some height but not more than Celestia. Luna must be taller than Twilight, and Cadence is about a bit taller than Twilight. I think it depends on the height and how Twilight's body appears.

Technically there is another pony with the long-leg mare body shape, Fleur deLis.

 

I get the distinct impression from a variety of interviews with show staff, that the initial body designs were deliberately 'regularized' in order to get the initial animation, and the first run of toys, out the door as quickly as possible. Supposedly, if they had more time/money to build molds and puppets for the mane6, they each would have had slightly different builds. Fluttershy and Rarity with something more like the long-leg build, while Applejack and Pinkie Pie would have had heavier builds.

 

I'm curious to see if in the next season they do anything subtle to the character models of all the Mane6. They're past the number of episodes needed for syndication, and Meghan has said that this next season is going to be ambitious. So they might do some updates to their art assets.

I love that picture of taller alicorn Twi-Twi! And I really want her to get taller, but they probably won't do that because they don't want her to stand out as much from the rest of the mane mares. But seriously, her wings look pretty dopey and smushed up because they don't fit with her proportions.

I don't think it would be THAT bad, I mean when Luna first tries to be social she gets it wrong, and scares ponies off, so it would be wrong to assume just because they are princesses and "look perfect" that they really are or have to be perfect.

I suppose in terms of FiM being continued (series 4) it wouldn't work, but if the mane 6 storyline is over and the story moved onto other ponies in the future then a more "full package" alicorn Twilight would work especially considering the age Celestia is, its possible Twilight could acheive a more similar mythical feel like Celestia and Luna have over a few hundred years for example. But that's probably best speculated in another thread.

Everyone/everypony gets taller with age But as tall as Celestia, no. Because Twilight isn't immortal AND WON'T BE! Maybe she will grow as Cadance since Cadance was a 'traditional' sized pony before. Or she will remain the same size since other older mares stay the same size. But since Twilight is a Princess now then she could grow as Cadance. My theory can be approved if you have read official Hasbro book Twilight Sparkle and the Crystal heart spell, where, not spoiling anything, is told how Cadance became a princess.

Actually, it's subtle, but if you look comparison the proportions to the ones here:

 

 

She's actually slightly taller than before. I doubt she'll get too much taller than this, though. It's important that they keep a basic style and figure for the Mane 6 so that they are "comparable" in the kid's minds.

Well first off Cadence already was an alicorn on that picture. Luna and Celestia are probably different kinds than the others since  they live thousands of years.

 

Anyways, I think that there is no real explanation why some are taller than others. When creating the show, Lauren just wanted to make the Princesses taller than the other ponies, just so you could more easily see that they are important characters. The same with Cadence. The other tall pony I don't remember the name of, Fleur something, is probably tall because the animators just randomly made a taller pony.

 

I do not think Twilight Sparkle will become taller. At least not in the show.

That's true. It just doesn't seem right for Twilight to be the advisor. She plays the crucial role of being the epic, magical nerd in the Mane 6.

 

I think that's why people are getting all defensive about Twilicorn - they don't want her to step up and play the mentor role. I don't want her to either.

I understand that, especially for a continuation of FiM. But There were other MLPs before FiM, and many FiM characters had previous incarnations, so just hypothetically here if it wasn't FiM anymore and "Twilight" made a reappearance in the advisor role do you think it would be doable? I'm pretty sure Celestia and Luna just have different body types than others due to the fact that they act like the gods of Equestria and probably would appear taller. Twilight will most likely not have any major changes to her design other than a slight increase in height.

I suspect she will get taller, but not to the level of Luna or Celestia. She may get as tall as Cadance, but she won't change too much because after all, this is a kids show, she has to stay recognizable.

However, I wonder as it is the older Princesses train students to be Alicorn for what point? So they can take a little time off? I think there is more to this than spreading the power to other minds and keeping the race growing. What if it were a backup plan, we have seen Celestia take a wallop, who says she couldn't die if it were much more? Maybe it is a replacement with all of her powers in the end? It would never happen in show, but think of possibility towards answering the question asked.

I think all ponies get taller as they get older becuase look at big macntosh or shining armor or the royal guards so i dont think all ponies are shor i think its just there age like the cmc members are younger (5 or 6) the main characters i think are in their teens (13-15) and the princesses and guards are adults (18 - 20`s)

I don't think so. If she were to get taller, she'd probably get more powerful when she does. Hasbro said that she wasnt going to get OP and ditch the Mane 6, so I'm not sure if she'll be taller.
