Moments in The Show That Pissed You Off.

There are moments that have made us smile, laugh, and even cry. The amount of emotion MLP can pull from us is quite amazing, and that shows the strength of the show. Always, there's the good and there's the bad. But has there ever been something in the show that moved you beyond frustration, to point of actually making you angry? A line or passing comment, a situation, or what a character did or went through?

 

Share the canon moment or moments that have ticked you off. If you have more than one, number them from most to least. If you have none, what was that one thing that always picked at you?

Here are mine:

 

 

1. Spike's picture taped onto Twilight's birthday photo:

 

-  I can't say that I wasn't bothered when it was pointed out that Spike should have been present in Sweet and Elite for the birthday party, but I just chalked it up to a quick plot point set up, like him having Canterlot business in Look Before You Sleep. However, the fact that this oddity was acknowledged, coupled with Spike's pictured hastily added (likely, done by himself), after the ordeal he just faced, where he essentially lost his heritage, lit an anger about Spike situation I hadn't felt before. Add to this, Cadance not inviting Spike to the welcoming and Rainbow's dig that he would have enjoyed it, and sometimes I can't help but fall for the darker speculations made by the fandom of slavery, misery, hopelessness, and destiny tragedy that seems suit to befall the dragon.

 

 

2. Trixie only apologizing to Twilight:

 

- Even though Trixie's feud was with Twilight, the latter arguably got off with the least amount of Trixie's wrath. She was kicked out and, at worst, had a bruised ego. The rest of the entire town, including the children, were in for a life time in enslavement, with outrageous demands, constant whipping, and grandiose feeding worship. Even as things eventually got back to normal, the town wasn't exactly trapped in that bubble for mere moments as Twilight tried to solve the problem. So it bothered me that Trixie cut and run without trying to make it up to the town, or repairing the damage she did. And that the only apologize she gave was to Twilight.

 

 

 

3. Celestia "you and only you alone" speech:

 

- I just felt that too much credit was given to Twilight, and not enough to the others for saving Equestria. It was a little upsetting that Celestia goes on about how Twilight had to do this alone, calls only her to give her the needed information, then lumps the other five as her tag-alongs, without even asking them first.  Yes, Twilight is Celestia's student, but that's no excuse. If the other 5 are going to be putting their lives on the line, then favoritism or protocol has no place.

The musical numbers in Mystery Magical Cure. There were so many that my suspension of disbelief broke and I was like WTF TOO MUCH CHOREOGRAPHY.

 

But to be serious, nothing in this show has ever annoyed me. I take the show for what it is since it's so simple, a reason I think it's so enjoyable for me.

The huge amount of songs in Magical Mystery Cure. Not, like I had a problem with it but sometimes too many songs can turn a episode into a musical. I knew it would be a musical, when I saw the first 20 seconds. Nothing in the show annoys me, just that.

Iv never really been pissed off my anything in the show, but I have moments where Id ask my self why something happened in a particular scene. Most of the time its just things that annoy me and make me ask why a particular line or scene felt like it needed to be in an episode.  

 

Sometimes Im annoyed by some of the musicals/sing a longs, not that the music is bad but; its just like why do they feel the need to put them everywhere and make them so obvious that they are about to sing?

What's wrong with a musical? If the songs are good and relevant to the plot, I just see it as another way of speaking or getting a point across.

 

In response to OP's #2, I see it as a symbolic thing. Twilight is the one pony Trixie dislikes/hates the most, so to overcome all that and actually apologize to Twilight is the ultimate show of remorse. Even though she didn't do as much to Twilight as to others, her apologies to others would mean little compared to that. It's also possible that she apologized to everyone else off-screen, then to Twilight last.

 

Now, is there anything I dislike? Hmm...Well, I don't like when characters act like stereotypical teenagers, like Gilda and the teen dragons. It's for that reason I had some ongoing issues with Equestria Girls...Other than that, maybe the unnecessary laughing so often heard after the ponies learn a lesson. If they're going to laugh, give them a reason. :I

Too Many Pinkie Pies, during the paint drying test. It was a funny scene and I wasn't exactly pissed off at the show, but I was quite baffled that Twilight would resort to such harsh means to solve the problem, and even more so that the writers were seemingly not aware of the implications. I mean, based on what the episode told us, those clones were sentient beings and Twilight was killing them off, and on top of that she could have easily zapped Pinkie by mistake. Meanwhile, we had Spike watching the carnage while munching popcorn and Rainbow Dash checking her watch because her friend's life-or-death struggle was apparently not exciting enough for her. What the heck was going on in that scene?

I hate to dig this up again, but... Discord being reformed.  They took such an awesome villain, part of whose appeal was in his role as manipulator and chessmaster of sorts, and actually *inverted the elements*... and tamed him. 

 

There;s a reason why Keep Calm and Flutter On is by far my least watched episode.

Well, nothing really "pissed me off," but I was slightly annoyed with Applejack's comment in "The Ticket Master."

 

Isn't that just like a boy? Can't handle the least bit of sentiment.

Well, nothing really made me angry but these moments did annoy me:

 

• When the mane 5 laughed in Twilight's face in Lesson Zero
• The bullying in One Bad Apple
• Pinkie's annoying ways in A Friend In Deed
• Spike mocking Twilight in Winter Wrap Up
• Rainbow Dash making such a big deal about reading in the beginning of Read it and Weep
• Fluttershy making Rarity and Pinkie cry in Putting Your Hoof Down

 

Most of, if not all of the jokes in the show fall flat for me. I have never laughed at a single joke in the show, so the jokes annoy me a bit.

The whole "we've turned into bullies ourselves" thing from One Bad Apple.

The trap was set in a way that required Babs to steal the float in order to trigger it. It's actually a masterpiece of a trap if you think about it: the one and only way it could trigger is if Babs herself chooses to be a bully. The whole trap depends on her doing something cruel, which means it can only be her fault if she falls in it.

But then, the CMC somehow feel like they're the ones who actively tried to bully Babs. They just set the trap, Babs would never have triggered it had she not initiated the bullying herself.

 

Of course I'm glad the whole thing was resolved without Babs getting humiliated, the fact that it was obvious from the start that she was only lashing out because of her own self-esteem issues made her sympathetic. I just think the CMC are being too hard on themselves.

The writer missed a great opportunity to point out the subtle difference between revenge bullying and cases where the victim got in trouble by their own fault. It would have been nice to see Babs admit that she would never have sprung the trap if she wasn't a bully to begin with.

I thought about replying to this post for a very long time, so here it goes. It absolutely KILLS me when i watch putting your hoof down, it just presses my buttons in all the wrong ways. When i watch it i squirm in my seat. I don't know why, but flutter shy going off like that really pissed me off, and i don't mean to sound like little girl, but when she said pinkie pie and rarity were worthless, flutter shy lost ALLOT of points in my book. She is still my favorite, but that episode makes me cringe just thinking about it. Other then that, their isn't any really big moments that just make my blood boil.

Not meaning to bash on your opinion or anything ,but how would you re-imagine Keep Calm And Flutter On? He's not really "reformed" just less obnoxious to those around him.

 

I would've liked to just see him just leave and  just do his own thing. If you watch Gravity Falls; near the end of the season there's a  dangerous entity that was released and near the end of the episode he escapes and while his location is unknown he's somewhere. I'd like it better if Discord would've done something like that.

 

Anyway a moment I hated there's a lot really.

The show has hardly ever pissed me off. I love the musical numbers despite the dense concentration of them in Magical Mystery Cure. Now there may have been so moments where I was a little annoyed though. 

 

One of which was in Canterlot Wedding, I mean seriously, none of her friends were even willing to listen to Twilight? Her friends didn't notice crap wrong with Chrysalis disguised as Princess Cadence despite how terribly obvious it was. Twilight is also supposed to be the one pony with the most common sense, so it just really didn't make sense how her friends and everyone just disregarded her as insane and jealous..

 

Another example was at the end of SSCS6000, where Applejack just flat out proclaimed that she learned absolutely nothing and was right all along! It does make me laugh a bit when I see it, but still I mean just some moments ago Applejack was crushed, hopeless, and almost in tears, and her friends was all that she had left. So no Applejack, I know you wouldn't have been saying all that if your friends hadn't come in helped you.

 

Oh well, it's still a little funny!

 

And then finally, in "Green Isn't Your Color", where Pinkie Pie was making such a huge, overdramatic and annoying fuss about how breaking one's trust can cause you to lose your best friends "forevveeerrrrr." I disagree with that, because that is not always the case. Yeah betraying a friend's trust like is bad of course and it will make them very upset at ya, but they were your closest and true friends, then they should eventually forgive you.

 

Plus, Twilight had many perfectly good chances to confess to Rarity and Fluttershy the truth, which in itself, at least in my opinion, would've been a justifiably good choice of action. The truth would've helped and resolved Fluttershy's and Rarity's problems easily! Unfortunately, Pinkie Pie had to always get into the way of Twilight confessing, which though in her eyes seemed like it was the right thing to do, and arguably one could say it was, but really, by doing that, it made only made everything so much harder and complicated

 

Also, I guess I can easily add "Putting Your Hoof Down" since the way Fluttershy treated Pinkie Pie and Rarity was just absolutely unacceptable in my eyes. She made my favorite pony cry! Hell, Fluttershy used to be my favorite before that scene...now she's second place.

The whole plot of that episode would've went smoothly if Pinkie wasn't stalking Twilight. Besides her telling something like that to her friends would've been completely justifiable because both Rarity and Fluttershy weren't happy with what they were doing.

I agree to everything the OP said, and add to it the following.

 

1. Keep Calm and Flutter On. It pissed me off the way that Fluttershy tried to use "The Stare" on Discord, like it's a sort of ability she can turn on and off. Not to mention the way the whole reformation of Discord was carried out.

 

2. Games Ponies Play. Did the inspector actually INSPECT anything?!

 

3. Magical Mystery Cure. Apparently, Twilight learned everything by herself. And Twilight's friends, and Celestia, should not have bowed to Twilight.

 

4. Magic Duel. Twilight goes to Zecora instead of Luna.

 

5. Putting Your hoof Down. What's with ponies this episode?!

 

And Blueblood... This guy is a prince. Why?

Twilight wasn't killing them. She was sending the magic that formed them back to the pond. They were not actually real ponies. It may be hard to tell sometimes with Pinkie, but I had the impression that they were dumbed down shadows of her. They were not exact duplicates.

 

Now for my piss off moment.

When the Pegasi were desperately trying to lift the water to Cloudsdale, but were just a few points short due to everypony having the feather flu, Spitfire just stood and watched! The lazy nag didn't even consider helping! That really annoyed me! The chances of breaking the record were over. Why couldn't she move her flanks and help them at least be able to deliver the water? 

 

Luna Eclipse - Any moment Pinkie was on screen

Pinkie Pie made me mad in that episode. She was actually BULLYING Luna! That wasn't like her at all. Didn't she stop to think that it was wrong to try to teach the colts and fillies to be afraid and to scream every time they saw her?

Pretty much any time there's a musical number. It usually means I have to skip 3 or 4 minutes of an episode or be placed into such writhing agony it can physically manifest itself. And most of the time it's padding anyway (I swear you could remove the musical number from the Cider episode, and it would be a much shorter episode without it).

 

Also, most of Season 2 qualifies. It was so bad I had to stop watching the show.

There's only one thing at actually made me mad.

 

Lesson Zero Twilight. (I'm really happy this place doesn't have dislikes.)  It was just too over the top and crazy for me.  I didn't find it funny, I mainly just found it worrying and irritating.  Twilight's my favorite and I like how OCD she can be, but it was just too much of an overreaction for me to handle.

 

Sorry, I know it's possibly people's favorite episode of the series.

The Sugarcube Corner scene in Mare Do Well. I'm really not sure how it was supposed to help anything, particularly. It's enough that everyone was passive aggressively trying to teach Dash a lesson, rather than being upfront and talking about the problem, but when they started pumping themselves up, knowing it'd set Dash off...really. It was a lesson she totally needed to learn, and I'm sure everyone had nothing but pure intentions, but the execution was...ugh.

 

I don't know if it pissed me off per se, but seeing everyone bow to Twilight in MMC rubbed me the wrong way. Sort of like the visual equivalent of hearing a chalkboard screeching.

 

Games Ponies Play, for the most part, just because from beginning to end it felt like watching a different and worse version of the regular show.

 

Also the bit about Trixie only apologizing to Twilight. While the episode was fairly cramped, and I liked the ending overall, she still tormented the entire town for most of the episode and many of them likely had it worse than Twilight did. Wouldn't have minded seeing that acknowledged.

Well most of season 3 was fan pandering and I think the whole Flutter-Stare was an example. Clearly fans have praised Fluttershy to the point where they think her stare can conquer the cruelest of foes so I believe they did that to prove them wrong.
