I don't find her stuck up at all! I like her! But we all have different opinions on every pony.

I really have to say to this is;

She is stuck up and cares a lot about appearances but she cares for her friends and is a very serious businesswoman. She's a go-getter and knows what she wants out of everything so it comes across as a little pushy but she never seems to have any malicious intent.

I don't personally believe she's stuck up at all. She's a generous pony who happens to enjoy the higher things in life and act more like a lady than the other ponies. She's a really kind pony and is, no means, a 'bitch'.

If she really was stuck-up, she wouldn't be friends with the ponies she has. She also wouldn't be the element of generosity.

 

She would be cold, distant, unfriendly and not forthcoming because she would believe she was more superior than other ponies.

 

This is not Rarity. Rarity has a lot of self-confidence and isn't afraid to be vocal about how much she loves herself or anything/pony else. Just because she might dislike more down to Earth things, it doesn't make her a bad person.

 

When she says, "darling", she isn't even saying it in a condescending manner like an actual stuck-up person might say.

 

Basically, if you judge someone on their speech pattern, fashion sense, and preferences? You're the stuck-up one.

I'm sorry but I find her so stuck up. In fact she reminds me of all those rich bitches I knew when I was in university (I studied at Royal Holloway) In fact I remember this one chick who always used to use the term 'darling'!

Now, from a materialistic standpoint, sure; she wants to fit in with high society, uses a sophisticated vocabulary with a sophisticated dialect...

 

Now, of course, there's all the other things she does, though; such as getting all muddy and dirty in attempt to redeem herself to her sister in "Sisterhooves Social", making beautiful dresses for all of her friends free of charge in "Suited for Success", and, of course, turning her back on high society out of loyalty to her friends in "Sweet & Elite."

 

She's a wonderful pony with a great disposition and seems to be a bit misunderstood by some members of the fandom. 

 

She gives and gives, makes sacrifices for her friends, is a business woman who is constantly, passionately working in order to chase her dream of being a famous fashionista...

Do you? She doesn't badmouth those around her. She doesn't spend hours criticizing everything about a person. And she has a shitton of friends who geniunely like her for who she is as a pony.

I completely disagree. I think the point of her character, like you said, is that the typical archetype of a fashionista is a stuck-up bitch who looks down on everyone else. So they intentionally subverted that trope by making her the element of generosity, the exact opposite of the stereotype.

 

Think about Equestria Girls. Her character type, in high school? In real life, she would probably be Sunset Shimmer, but instead she kept all of her unique personality quirks. That's what makes her so great.

 

When you make a thread like this, I just hope you know Rarity has the fiercest and loyalest fans.

Your only looking at rarity from a strangers standpoint, basically the equivalent of judging someone after only knowing them for like five minutes. Yes at first she seems shallow and stuck up, but if you'd spend a few hours with someone like her in real life you'd get to see how she really is. She's generous, thoughtful and nice to her friends. She's basically like the brony fandom: from a strangers standpoint we're weird freaks who live in our parents basements and are obsessed with ponies, but once you get to know us you see we can be a wonderful community of pony obsessed freaks

This is the point I'm trying to make. You may or may not be right about real life, I don't know, but Rarity's not the stereotypical fashionista. Maybe in Rarity Takes Manehattan they were trying to make it more realistic. Rarity very easily could be just like that, and maybe would be more successful, but instead she sticks to her morals and does things the right way. I think she's done pretty well for herself.

I actually know a lot of people aspiring to be in the business and are in the business I have a lot of friends, men and women, who are considered fashionistas and quite a few of them actually design and make clothing. A lot of them are also in school for other fashiony things like hair styling and other beauty school things. And they are all good people.

 

A lot of business are ruthless. I find it really funny that you're only complaining about the female dominated business and not even blinking an eye at male dominated business cliques.

 

Besides, it depends on the person. You can be ruthless without being cruel and you can climb the latter of success without using people as your rungs. No one has to be anything and fashionable people, especially women, don't need to be whatever negative stereotype you project on them.

 

Also, we did see Rarity last in the world of fashion business. Please re-watch "Rarity Takes Manehattan" and tell me again that deep down she's a cold hearted bitch.
