Daily Commute

My commute is a 5 mile bike ride, mainly on gravel roads.  On a calm day, I can get to work in 15 minutes, but living in a rural area with few trees, I often have to fight the south winds on warm days going to work or the north cold winds going home. 

Humidity never helps either, but as long as I have my Ipod and some gum (to prevent eating gnats), I'm good.

 

My husband has an hour commute, and other getting up at 3:30am, it's boring for him and he's often in auto-pilot mode.

On Mondays and Wednesdays, I used to travel about 15 minutes to an extended campus of my community college. After my two classes, I would park my car at a shopping square about 10 minutes away from campus and take the city bus down to the central campus. I would take three classes, then, I would take the city bus back to the shopping square then come home.

 

On Tuesdays, I'd stay home for most of the day, until the evening comes when I've got evening classes. I then would be dropped off at the shopping square, take the bus to central campus. I would then be picked up by a friend and dropped off home.

 

On Thursdays, I'd drive to the extended campus then after come home. I would then drive to work, which is only 2 minutes away. 

 

Fridays are the same as Thursdays except I have no work, but I don't get home until 5pm.

I managed to get a later schedule for school this semester. I usually start my commute after rush hour which lasts 15-20 minutes. On unfortunate days like Monday, this could be anywhere from 20-30 minutes depending on how bad traffic can get. Moral of the story; ...oops, there isn't one.

My daily commute to school takes about 15 minutes. I drive to a parking lot, which takes about five minutes, then I get on a shuttle bus that actually takes me to the building my classes are in, which takes the remaining ten minutes. I usually repeat this process multiple times a day because I can have anywhere from an hour to seven hours of down time in between classes. Fun times.

My current school is a 45-minute walk from my house, but I get lifts to and from by my dad everyday. Until last year my old school was only 20-minute's walk from my home, so I got lifts in the morning and walked back in the afternoon.

I commute to university in the mornings and it's about a 45 minute to 1 hour drive depending on traffic, so I usually leave an hour early.  The traffic in the city is TERRIBLE, to the point that if there was, heaven forbid, no traffic I would probably get there in 20-30 minutes since it's only about 15 miles away

I drive for between 45 minutes to an hour depending on how traffic is to get to college.  The drive is actually very nice when traffic isn't bad, I just sit back with some classic rock on the radio and just cruise all the way in my 2000 Ford Ranger.

1. 30-minute drive down to New England Tech's East Greenwich campus via I-95

2. Hour-long, traffic-ridden drive back to Attleboro, again via I-95... you don't want to be in Boston or Providence on that route during the afternoon, traffic then is TERRIBLE.

My longest commute was an hour and 15 minutes. That's what you get when you live in the boonies. Now that I'm living in a fairly gentry suburban neighborhood close to civilization, I only have to drive 20 minutes to reach work. The drive home is 15.

Once I get out of my neighborhood, it’s a right turn, left turn, and then a right turn onto a road that is a straight shot the rest of the way.

On a good day, the ride is about 40-50 minutes, but I always give myself extra time because, sometimes, the traffic spirits get narky, and everything screeches to a halt.

The drive from my house to work during the week is 20 minutes, but coming back is closer to a half hour. My commute was traffic free from March until September thanks to the pandemic.

I have to ride my bike half an hour to work and half an hour home. With any luck I'll have my moped registered soon, and that commute time will get cut in half. That would also have the benefit of not being exhausting. Riding a bike up and down hills for thirty minutes is rough, and it certainly doesn't help when your job is also quite tiring.

though from my house to the college campus, it's around an our and a half by bus (into the city centre), around half an hour by train (cause I need to walk about half that), or if I drove it would take like 10 or 15 minutes, but I don't

It’s a twenty minute drive to work for me.  Would be a little quicker if there was a good way to get there but I mostly have to take rural roads to get there till I get into the town.

When I travel to numerous places throughout the city, I often tend to do it by train. Takes about 20-30 minutes to get to where I need to go. I used to take the city buses way back in the day, but I rarely do that now.

My current commute is 30 minutes to work. 2/3 of which is on an interstate highway. The remaining is on a curvy, congested 2-lane highway. Overall the commute isn't too bad, but there are some days where you just question how you have any hair left. Worst part is getting on the interstate in the mornings cuz school traffic is insane.

When I move, my commute will become an hour drive, but nearly all of the commute is on a straight 2-lane highway with very few people. Rather peaceful drive actually.

My place of work has been closed since March thanks to the induced OCD pandemic. But when I’m working my commute is very short. I can walk to work in 10-15 minutes or drive there in 5-10. It helps to live close-by and avoid our Southern Cali freeways which can get pretty tied up with the morning commute.
