Gen 3, mostly because I think it is what got us off on the right track towards improving each game. With gen 1 & 2 other than some new Pokemon we had no advancements. After we got Gen 3 we got new Pokemon (really amazing & creative Pokemon), abilities, pokeballs, items, we got new types... Hell we really haven't gotten as much of an advancement as Gen 3 did since. Also I like the Pokemon overall the best (despite my top 3 being from gen 1, 4, & 5) from that gen, & I feel it overall had the most interesting story

Thank you Pinkamena-Pills for resizing the original, and putting that little message at the end

I'm gonna have to say G2. Although Jhoto was probably one of the weakest regions, you were able to go to Kanto and collect an additional 8 badges. I believe that generation had the most post Elite Four content.

  • 3 months later...

The very first one where there was only 150, it got a bit too confusing for me beyond that. I always loved playing Pokemon Yellow on my Gameboy Colour.

Finally, an excuse to rant about Generation Five.

Generation Five is hands down my favorite generation, punching all of the others out of the water. Now, i'm a big lore person, so the characters and plot are big to me.

But seriously in Gen V, the characters are amazing. Cheren has so much development it isn't funny, Bianca becomes a strong independant women, N is... Uh, N (NNNNNNNN), Ghetsis really makes you hate him, Hugh is an asshole who is annoying but still lovable, Team Plasma is either original or scary or cultist-y or all three, all of the gym leaders have personalities that make you love them, both champs are pretty tough and good ones, the elite 4 are the most badass ones in the whole series... God, the characters are great.

Gen V also has some of the coolest pokemon out there. Not counting Vanilluxe or Garbodoar, look at Hydreigon, Eeleketross, Samurott, Serperior, Zekrom, Reshiram, Zoroark. Keldeo... Gen V is a region of badassness. And they not only look cool, they're a major threat.

The plot is superb. I won't say why because spoilers but plot is amazing.

The final battle between N and the player is also kickass. I'm serious, spoiling shit now, but you are battling N with one half of the mascot duo. It's a legendary showdown with kickass music and backgrounds, it's great.

Feeling nostalgic? The PWT gives you the chance to kick all of your favorite gym leaders / champions asses all over again! Battle Green/Blue wih remixed music! Hug Cynthia! Oh yeah Cynthia's in Unova too she knows where its at.

The Musicals are cool too. And the music is top notch.

Anywho, yeah I could rant for days about this but Gen V is great.

First gen because it introduced the unquestionably best Pokemon in the entire series (and yes - I'm including all future game releases).  That Pokemon is obviously:

  • Gameplay: X and Y. With wonderful little things like Super Training, Mega Pokémon and Pokémon Amie, it has made the gameplay more fun and more... organised, for a lack of a better word. Although I think that ORAS has the best gameplay. DexNav is awesome.
  • Story: Black and White, no contest. This is the only generation in which the story had more conflict compared to other generations.
  • Music: Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald. I was going to say Diamond, Pearl and Platinum, but there's something about RSE's music that seems memorable. It could be the melody or the trumpets, but I could now see why so many people like the music.
  • Pokémon: Black and White. Contrary to popular belief, controversial Pokémon like Garbodor and Klink are pretty great. It baffles me to see that people think they're lazy, when they're not. Really, would you think of a trash bag Pokémon if you worked for Game Freak? These are professionals we're talking about, not cheap amateurs. Also, Gen V introduced my favourite Pokémon, Sawk and Mienshao.
  • Overall: Black and White. The gameplay is fine, the story is refreshing, the music is nice and the Pokémon are too underrated.

I hope the next gen will be like Gen 5. Black 2 and White 2 are also one of my all time favourite games.

For me, my favorite Generation would be... Gen 1, 2, 4, and 6.

I also really LOVED Diamond and Pearl. The story was great to me and the gameplay was awesome. It also had some GREAT new Pokemon. Gen 5 had some good Pokemon, but the story and gameplay was a little too boring for me. Of course I love Gen 1 and 2. Gen 3 was good, but not my favorite. Gen 6 was actually very good too!!! Infact, Xerneas is probably my new favorite Pokemon.

All good generations and good games. :P

In my opinion for Music, and Added Pokemon and Gameplay its Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald.

For Storyline its definitely Black/White/Black2/White2 cause frankly its the only one that actually -had- a serious story and not just a 'Travel around and beat trainers to level up' plot.

Gameplay goes to X/Y.

Story, definitely Black/White.

Music, Ruby/Sapphire. Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire's remastered versions of the tracks bring them to true glory though.

Best Pokémon introduced, definitely Black/White.

Overall though... well, gens 1 and 2 were where I was interested in Pokémon but didn't quite love it yet, and then gen 3 is where my love truly started and sparked... yet gen 4 is where I got into the competitive aspects of Pokémon which is the main reason I stick with the series, and yet still gen 5 introduced most of my favored Pokémon to use in a competitive manner as well as like in general, so yeah... gen 5. Gen 6 made the greatest battle improvements yet though, but the new roster isn't quite as strong as Gen 5's to me.
