If there should be any kinds of robots around, I think it should be robots that are interactive with humans on a social basis, would probably help a lot of people who are not good at socializing. Of course they should not be an alternative for avoiding socializing among humans but it would probably cheer up a few shut-ins.

Actually there is war robots. I think there's ones for defusing bombs. And, yes there is house robots, not like the ones you see in games but like a self-vacuuming robot.

I'd like to see sentient robots that are essentially indistinguishable from humans in their behaviour, and have true feelings. I'd also like for them to be physically indistinguishable from humans, so you really wouldn't know that they're robots unless you hacked 'em open and looked.

... I pity you if you don't understand this. The two characters above this text are the main protagonist and sidekick equivalent, respectively, of Cave Story, Both of them are robots, but both of them do have emotions, showing themselves to be very caring for the well-being of others, and, unlike the generic robots who are implied to be of the worlds, are very much unique with amazing gun-wielding and platforming abilities.

 

Not to mention, they've got a sense of adorable to both of them.

... No, really, just look at Cave Story's TVTropes page. They're specifically labeled under "Badass Adorable".

 

So yeah, having robots with unique, human personalities and amazing shooting abilities, as well as looking appealing at the same time (WITHOUT BEING "SEXY", at that) would be just fine with me.
