technology The Official Information Technology Thread

Ok, so I've noticed that many people on this forum understand programming and web development. What I've not noticed is as much of a discussion on the broader side of information technology infrastructure, such as networking, systems, and virtualization. I know that programming is involved in information technology, but the field is more broader than that.

You may discuss things like:

- Cisco Routing and Switching

- VMWare Virtualization

- IT Security (cryptography, social engineering, phishing)

- Operating Systems (UNIX, LINUX)

- Microsoft Server Administration

- SQL Database Management Systems

- Programming as it relates to the above

I hope everyone enjoys this thread!

I'm actually in college now getting my Comptia A+ to start my career in IT, though I'm not quite sure yet where I plan on going huh.png

I really enjoy being able to know about the device I'm always working with, and to know all the ins and outs of the PC and their peripheral devices.

Oh, the A+ is a great certification to start out with. It covers the basics of hardware, networking, operating systems, and troubleshooting. After obtaining it, one may decide to pursue the Network+ and Security+ to become more well rounded.
