Does anyone find shipping arguments silly?

 

The shipping fights in this fandom over which Pony should be shipped with, but I guess this happens in every fandom.

 

I mean really fighting over who is in a relationship with who is so silly. Alright, your ship may never happen in the show itself, but you still got Zoidberg, Internet, fan fictions and other universes.

Very. Me and Cakebandit often kid around about who is better Luna X Chrysalis or Fluffle Puff X Chrysalis but neither of us actually argue about it. Seems like a really petty thing to get mad over. I enjoy shipping but won't dispute other peoples favourite ships seriously. I will as a joke cuz it can be fun but people who get legit mad just need to settle down a little

Yeah. Everybody has their own opinions about shippings, which may explain why the arguments get so heated. Everybody defends the shippings they love. A shipping somebody may like may seem bizarre to somebody else.

I personally like Heterodash, but that's just me.

 

I like shipping, just not the fighting. I find it interesting to see other relationships with other characters, canon or not.

 

Even Human X MLP FIM Pony, (gaps) dun dun dun! Hey xenophilia and Commander Shepard dating sapient aliens. These Ponies are basically Human anyway.

To me, it doesn't matter. 

 

As long as it doesn't feel "awkward". Even though the majority of MLP characters are female, somehow, they're able to fit together regardless of same sex. 

 

Therefore, I find shipping arguments silly.

People actually argue about shipping? Eh.. it's really not something worth arguing. I find it ridiculous, I personally support no shipping at all and wait for what writers have to say, but I am not going to blame anyone for shipping ponies. It's personal opinion. And in this case there is no way to prove such opinion wrong, because it's only matter of taste.

There's all sorts of arguments that Bronies and Pegasisters make that are beyond fathomable.

"I think AJ should get killed off, because it'd make a great storyline." - Should AJ be killed off?

 

"Stop over analyzing the show! Sit back and actually enjoy it!" - Numerous times in show discussion.

 

Trolls? Probably. But that doesn't set aside the fact that those were their whole arguments.

 

Those make shipping arguments feasible, trolling or not Hell, I'm not even complaining. It's just these are all facepalmingly stupid.

Shipping arguments are pretty pointless. All they do is argue and fight over a shipping of two ponies, it's not that big of a deal. Ironically, people in the fandom mostly argue about shippings even when the argument goes to the point of being built up to absolutely nothing with both sides of the argument arguing over nothing.

Shipping arguments are just one way fandoms pass the time, really . Everyone will have their own opinions about who goes better with who, and all the arguing won't change anything even in shows where there are romantic couples. So long as you don't take it too seriously, I don't see much harm in it though. Me and an author from Fimfiction had a long running tongue-in-cheek argument over our favorite pairings that lasted several months. The silliness can be the main point, a lot of the time.

I didn't even know about "shipping" until joining this fandom. Frankly, its stupid. Yeah, parings that are established by the show are fine, but everything else is just wasteful speculation. Why waste your time arguing that "Applejack x Rarity is best ship" or whatever, when a) it will never ever happen in the show and there are many better uses of time

Yeah I personally think that arguing over which pony shipping is best is just silly and kinda pointless. I mean none of it is even cannon, so you can't really win with that regards. Any argument on the matter would just be both indefensible and irrefutable at the same time. You can go on and on about your favorite shipping and give an essay explaining why it is "best shipping" and what not, but your argument won't ever be unassailable, unless the the show reveals otherwise. Ultimately when it comes down to shipping, it's really subjective and there's always gonna be different preferences and whatnot.
