Current CoD is a steaming pile of crap that was formed into a disc and sold for $60 each. The old CoDs were decent. Halo is at least decent. It's not amazing, but it's good.

If you want a great shooter, go check out series like doom, quake, half life, etc. If you want multiplayer, TF2, battlefield (I've only played some of the older ones, not sure how the newest ones are), unreal. Quake has some great multiplayer as well.

Both.

CoD has terrible campaign with alright multiplayer.

Halo has a mediocre campaign with alright mutliplayer too.

So then halo is better?

I've played Halo: CE and Halo 3 a bit, but I've never really gotten into it. I just don't really like the style of play. I like CoD because I have fun playing them. I don't listen to the kids in my lobby because they're always annoying and I really just play for myself.

Having this focus on MP has given the illusion to other developers that they need to include it as well.

Really? A lot of games are adding multiplayer elements because of WoW, not CoD. Most FPS's have multiplayer game modes because most people buy FPS's for the PvP element of them, and that's probably because of Doom and Quake, but Counter Strike really popularized the team based PvP shooter.

I like them both for different reasons. In halo it's harder to kill someone, which means you need to think about how you're attacking more (in multiplayer anyway). Halo also has vehicles and various other features spread across the series that CoD doesn't have. If i have a nice chunk of time and am in the mood for larger scale battles, i'll probably go with Halo. CoD it only takes a few shots to kill someone, and most of the time you're running around the map shooting everyone willy nilly as there aren't weapon spawns or vehicles to think about. If i'm in the mood for something that i can jump in and out real fast while still having fun i'd probably go with CoD. Overall i do prefer the Halo games more than CoD, but it really depends on what i'm wanting to do and the mood i'm in.

If I had to chose one, I'd go for Halo.

I've only played Halo: CE, Halo 2 and CoD 1, 2, 4, WaW, MW2, BO all for PC. I find that Halo has the better gameplay and story than CoD:WaW onwards but it's about even for CoD 1, 2 and 4.

But neither can best the awesomeness of:

Ah yes, taking the great, longlasting, pointless, debate/screaming of fanboys argument to a peaceful place. Prehaps I'll finnaly see a Halo Vs Call of Duty match without someone breaking into rage?

Anyways, I like Halo mostly for personnal prefrence. I've played both of the latest games for either side, and I must say I like halo better.

When I played Black Ops, it really came down to who saw who first. When an opponent started shooting at you, you were screwed, no way you would win unless the other completely sucked or you were completely pro.

When I played Halo, it came down to who can keep their targeter on the other guy the longest. So even if the other person began shooting you first, if you do things right and outsmart the other guy somehow, you were victorious.

I like having a chance to win a quick gunfight someone else started thank you very much.

I played Halo, but only a small bit of it, so I can't really have an opinion on it, and I've played one CoD game, and thats Modern Warfare 3's campaign and multiplayer. I guess the latter would be COD since I got more time for it. I like the story mode and everything, and multiplayer is pretty addictive. I just wish the series didn't overshadow a bunch of other great games, and I seriously hate the people online.

Halo, definitely. Then again, nowadays I play neither.

I've read the Halo books. The fact that Halo actually has a consistent story already makes it superior to Sprint, Aim in general direction, Hold trigger of Duty.

I find Halo has just about every aspect greater than Call of Duty.

Plz read before declaring me a fanboy.

Just looking at the games from a glance it's clear that Halo focuses on giving a captivating story and great replay value, multiplayer is also a big part of Halo and gets a lot of effort put into it (with the exception of Halo Reach whose multiplayer seemed partially developed).

Call of Duty focuses not so much on a great story, but a story that allows for numerous memorable moments. Multiplayer is obviously what Call of Duty has essentially turned into. With only medium replay value in the campaign, the game relies on it's multiplayer for long term enjoyment.

From this aspect, I prefer Halo. I'd much prefer a less scripted game that I can enjoy offline and online than a game that relies on it's multiplayer.

Time to go deeper into the comparison!

I'll start off with multiplayer. Both games bring great multiplayer to the table.

At this point I prefer Halo's mp.

The Call of Duty developers have been trying to refine and tune the same kind of multiplayer for 5 years now.

They seem to try so hard to tune the already established multiplayer that they neglect bringing new innovations to the table.

The alternating releases of games between Infinity Ward and Treyarch also causes every other game to either take a step back in development or simply not take it forward.

Call of Duty's multiplayer is fun but it's grown stale after 5 years of failed attempts to refine the multiplayer.

With all this said, I can't forget to mention where Call of Duty mp truly shines! Call of Duty and Call of Duty 2!

The multiplayer was so simple yet allowed for a fun time without all the questionable additions made to the games in later years!

Halo's turn now! I find Halo's multiplayer very simple yet at the same time just as competitive and captivating as a shooter should be.

Halo Reach seemed like it was rushed but it still brought great innovations to the table that brought the series a leap forward as far as the multiplayer goes.

Halo is my personal choice for multiplayer.  I'll dabble a bit in CoD's mp nowadays but it's just no longer what it use to be.

Campaign time!

My personal preference for shooter campaign gameplay are games that can have intense moments without relying heavily on scripted moments. Sorry CoD, you don't even come close here.

Halo's campaign gameplay has great replay value, CoD's...not so much.

Of course with the exception of CoD 2! That campaign had far greater replay value.

Halo is my choice for campaign, I can replay the campaign without getting my mind numbed. I do play CoD's campaign occasionally for the awesome feel it has, but due to low replay value it just isn't fun in the long run.

Story time!

Once upon a time in magical land of Equestria...there lived 2 regal games.

Call of Duty's story seems pretty basic to be honest, while they did put some interesting twists in it, it seems more like way of guiding you to the next firefight than actually giving you something to really take in.

Halo's story expands beyond just the games but to keep this fare (considering CoD has no novels) I'm only gonna talk about the games.

The lore of the Halo Universe is something that on it's own can keep you coming back.

Halo's story is not that much different from many other Sci-Fi's but it does succeed where most Sci-Fi's fail.

Story wise, Halo is my choice. I've tried to get into CoD's story but when taken out of all the shooting gameplay, it's pretty mediocre.

Graphics now!

I'm not really one to look too much into graphics. As long as the graphics are tolerable, then I won't complain too much...at least in the case of shooters.

Halo's graphics early on were arguably some of the better graphics around for their time. Now Halo's graphics are at most mediocre, though Halo does do a good job of putting their graphics to good use.

I personally like the graphics of Call of Duty 2. Afterwards the graphics seem to get uglier and uglier.

It's more of a draw here, Halo's graphics are not much better than CoD's but Halo does know how to use it's graphics to make a pretty looking game.

Original Score.

Not much to say here, both have some good score. It's all entirely personal preference, and I go with Halo.

Communities

Both Halo and Call of Duty play host to terrible communities. While I love Halo, I would never associate myself with such a horrid community.

Game Support

I personally think Halo's game support is incredibly overrated. Bungie has put a lot of effort into post-release updates but I found that at least for Reach, updates came way too late.

Lack of proper playlist integration for map packs also makes buying a map pack more of a waste of money.

Call of Duty...meh. If I consider the support Halo gets as overrated then CoD's poor excuse for support won't fare much better.

A majority of their updates have been to try to fix bugs and exploits that are essentially non-fixable.

And on the occasions that they do fix major issues, there's always a runner up issue right behind it.

TL:DR

Halo is my choice. Personally I think a better match up would come from one of the many great PC shooters out there.

CoD just isn't something I'll play on anything more than occasion nowadays.

Witch do you like more halo or call of duty I myself like both but I like halo just a bit more minus halo 4( I really didn't like halo 4 they could have done better ) but I do love zombies mode for black ops.

Hey there Theshadowmaster235, just letting you know that I merged the topic you made comparing Halo to Call of Duty with the one we already had here. I'd advise you to use the search function to see if a topic has been made yet or not next time. Thanks for your understanding. :)

Pre-343 Halo all of the way.  I have a bone to pick with 343.  As for post Bungie Halo, Cod all the way.

I'll vote Halo, since true Halo is what I prefer.

Halo is way better IMO. It actually has a story line worth playing, rather than having it as an afterthought *cough* CoD *cough*. As for the multiplayer, I like Halo's better as well, mostly because it actually requires you to have a large amount of skill to pull off kills rather than really fast twitch reflexes. Also, CoD basically hasn't developed AT ALL over the last 5 games, and Halo has at least tried something new with some of the releases.

Even though 343i took over and Halo's not as good as it used to be, it's still better than CoD.

Halo can be as creative as they want to be, with both story line and multiplayer. Where as COD in recent years feel like they have been copy and pasting their games.
