My first reaction was more of a blast like Getsuga Tensho but then thats only because I'm a bigger Bleach fan then DBZ

But I agree the fight as a whole was defiantly DBZ

Eather way I was a happy brony

The entire fight was well animated, the intensity was superb, and each move that Twilight and Tirek made kept you on the edge of your seat wanting more. It reminded me of Dragon Ball Z, if only the fight ended with Ponyville blowing up, at least the aftermath of destruction made up for that. It was amazing! ;)

I showed this video to my co-worker who hates mlp. I said to him:

"You like DBZ, right?"

He said, "Yeah."

"But you hate MLP?"

"Yeah."

Then I said, "Okay then, well this is probably going to confuse you."

He watched it and was all like, wtf? He still doesn't like mlp, but he thought that scene was something.

Welp, I'm in the minority again.

I wasn't a fan of it. It was far too long, especially considering was to show that the two were evenly matched. A quicker scene that still got that point across would have been preferable. It was fun, but it had no reason to be there.

Y'know, I've been on this site for almost ten years and I've never had a proper signature. Ain't that something?

So here's my major gripe with the Twilight/Tirek fight in the S4 finale: It made Twilight's friends as disposable and irrelevant as Goku's non-saiyan friends in DBZ, while turning Twilight into just as much of an overpowered Mary Sue as Goku.  At the very least the Rainbow Power scene restored relevance to the Mane Five, as they all receive Rainbow Power transformations alongside Twilight and use them to defeat Tirek and restore everypony's magic.

And yet, more people care about the Twilight/Tirek fight than the Rainbow Power scene, because the latter was too rushed and instantly resolved.  Not only that, but there are also people who liked Dragon Ball Z, despite how ridiculously overlong and repetitive the fights are, and the way it abandoned the original Dragon Ball cast to make way for Vegeta as well as his and Goku's sons.

Seriously, Themanime.org gave that anime series two stars out of five for being that mediocre: http://www.themanime.org/viewreview.php?id=245

So why all the love for that stupid fight scene, when the whole point of the show is friendship, not stupid fights?  If I want stupid fights, I'd go to Dragon Ball Z, which I deeply, deeply HATE WITH ALL MY BUCKING HEART!!!!

Hi, @Commander_PonyShep. There was already a topic in existence for discussing the fight between Twilight and Tirek in the season 4 finale, so I have merged your topic about it into it.

I made an account just to add my two cents. I couldn't stand it at all. after the second energy beam clash I was asking for it to stop. By the time we got to the floating pebbles and smashing through mountains it had gone full DBZ and I was tuning it out completely. Don't get me wrong it was cool enough and if something like it had happened in fanfiction or something I would have been all for it, but it's not the kind of thing I ever want to see on the show proper. Anyone can write a fight scene with a ton of explosions and destruction it doesn't neccessarily make the story any better, anyone that's seen Man of Steel should know what I'm talking about. The thing I liked about the show was how it's character's  interacted, not how well the animators could deliver drawn out boom festival just for the sake of killing a few minutes.

IMMA FIRING MA LAZER! This scene was epic! The writers should give themselz a pat on the back. Dbz and mlp sure do mix well. How about more episodes like this huuh?

I did not expect it, and I was hanging on the edge of my seat when I was watching it. It was incredible.

Nice double entendre there!

When I watched it I would have to definitely say it reminded me of DBZ, I haven't really watched DBZ other than the abridged version, which was hilarious, but Twilight's horn cannon attack kind of reminded me of the kamahama blast (you can tell I haven't watched the show at all!)

I don't think I need to mention Rainbow Dash's hair, and the rainbow powers here!  :o

I wouldn't mind more action sequences like that in the show to be honest, it was great in my opinion, It got me very excited for the next season, now I can't wait!
