Things I don't want to see in Season 5:

-Random Transformations. Like I said in another thread, they are already the Crystal Breezies who harness the Rainbow Elements of Power and Harmony with an alicorn princess leader. Why can't they just stay simple ponies? Granted they do for most of the season, It is still slightly annoying.

 

-CMC. Either start to give them their cutie marks, or break up the flow. Have one of them turn on the others for a change. One that would be awesome would be an episode which starts off with them trying to get their cutie marks and one of them gets discouraged and leaves. Of course it has to be resolved... but not for another 6 episodes. That way it feels like there is actual weight to the decision and it scares the viewer into thinking it is permanent. Just not these 1 episode story lines that always end up being happy in the end. I know it is a show for little girls, but I think it would be a nice breath of fresh air, even for them. That can be applied for the mane 6 or any other character too.

 

-Sparity... please just end it. To me it makes both Spike look like a helpless little loverboy and Rarity look like a tease and meanie. Either drop it or have them actually bring it up in the show. I LIKE DEPRESSING AND DARK STORY LINES DANG IT! Speaking of Spike...

 

-Spike needs to grow up a bit. I'm tired of seeing him be the useless little boy who always has to be held up by his peers or is the cause for most of their problems. He seems to always be dropping things, causing problems, and is just used as a laughing tool. I want to actually care for Spike, not feel bad for him or hate him all the time.

 

-OOC characters. I don't want to be copying too much of what others have said, but this season did seem like it had the most OOC moments. Applejack goes from being a rather chill pony to complete freak out with Applebloom when she is potentially gone for a few days, even though she has done this before to her. The rest of the Apple family might have been there too... but still. Twilight has gone from quirky, nerdy, overreacting know it all to very logical, calm, collective, boring princess Twilight. I know she is supposed to be a princess... but does she have to act like that when not on royal duty? Pinkie Pie needs to tone things down a notch. Breaking the laws of Physics, and being obnoxious are different things. Moments like her walking in thin air while being chased by the Hydra are ok. Berating Fluttershy because of the way she sings, causing her to cry, and having everyone else scorn you is not.

 

-Stop ruining plot lines months in advance. This is more towards Hasbro. Don't reveal plot lines of the show months before they even come out. I know they are trying to make money, but can't they do the same thing the week leading up to the episode? Rainbow Ponies came out a long time ago, and it wasn't even a real surprise when we actually saw it in the show. Little kids might not be as keen eyed, but still.

I'll stop there for now just because I don't want to be too negative about the show. I will still watch and love the show for what it is, but if they could change things but just a bit with the above, I would be so happy.

I am doing a second watching of season 1. But I hope they do not add another villain. Please develop characters we already have. They're taking the Adventure Time route and building a lore. MLP and Adventure Time had similar first seasons. I t was more centered on being a funny and cute kids show, then it started to build its own lore and universe.

Forgetting Our Lessons

While it is normal for individuals to forget what they learned in the past, sometimes having a character forget a previous lesson just for the sake of plot convenience can be a tad confusing... especially when it's dealing with an issue that the character in question has already overcome.

 

Spike Abuse

The guy has his own throne in a castle now and is a hero of a kingdom, can the random abuse stop? No? Fine!

 

Background Pony Focus

While I'm all for our favorite background characters getting focused on more, it could play out to be both bad and good at the same time. Let's leave them as being ambiguous with minor speaking roles from time to time as they have had previously.

We all know hooking up the Party Cannon with Madame le Flour would just be a complete and total mistake. She belongs with Tom dammit!

Spikeabuse, Flanderization, or any kind of one-note gag writing dictating the plot of an episode, no excessive fan pandering or ploying for artwork, no ratings traps, and less overarching plotlines.

I agree with what everyone said about Pinkie Pie and Spike. I love both of them, but they need to stop being treated like comic relief characters (well, they will always be who they are, but I mean they need to stop being quite so... odd ball-ish, I guess you could say?)! I also don't want to see any more bad CMC episodes as well... well, none of them are really BAD, but you can just tell that they are... aimed at younger girls SOOOOOOOO much... makes me cringe watching them (although I still like them, if that makes sense!)

 

I know this thread is about things you DON'T want to see, but I would love to also have some background pony episodes. That would really make things interesting! Or at least some parts in episodes that revolve around the mane six AND some background ponies, such as Lyra and Bon Bon being mixed in the plot. But it would have to be done in a good way... I would also like to not see any more weak/bad episodes (obviously). XP

 

Oh, and no more Mary Sue Twily!!!! And I would also like to see Princess Celestia get some love, and some actual fleshed out character-ness... right now she is VERY Mary Sue-ish, and is an obvious plot device with a strange personality. I love her a ton, but she needs more love, from both the fandom AND the show! (imo)

 

No more OOC characters would also be great as well... especially with the mane six! The CMC actually getting their cutie marks (FINALLY) would also be nice... even if it was just one of them, and the other two eventually catching up later. And Sparity being officially brought up in the show instead of just... "there" would be very nice indeed! And as Thespian said, Hasbro stopping ruining plot lines months in advance sounds like it'd be very nice!!!

1. Introducing too many new characters, its nice to have some new characters about but give us less and develop the ones you have.

Making Princess Celestia seem even more weak. bothers me a lot, I know that she is not as strong as she use to be but its going a bit far in my opinion...

I'm so tired of Twilight, who always saves the day and others are barely there to be (or not) her moral support. This is a cartoon about FRIENDSHIP. I understand that she's a Princess of Friendship, but come on!

2. Cheesy Romance. (The kind in Equestria Girls or Hearts and Hooves day.)
3. Episodes without plot. Show some plot, preferably Rarity's. (I mean the story.)
4. Episodes with one main character being the antagonist to help develop another character. (Sonic Rainboom and Filly Vanilli.)

That's pretty much everything I came up with. Season 5 will be amazing!

Season 5 time,which means us critics will list everything they never hope to see in an episode ever.I'll go first.

She has so much character potential,but than I see an episode where she's flanderized and I flip a table.

Pinkie Pie is more than just a comic relief for the sake of comedy or moments where she is downright intimidating, but the episodes where she isn't the focus could say the opposite. I love Pinkie, but I hope they fix the flaunderization in the next season.

 

THANK YOU AGAIN! I agree that she's meant to be funny, but that doesn't mean she has to be nonsense random, although there are some episodes which were really really funny this season four thanks to her, like the abandoned castle one

Two things. 

 

1. NO Sparity (Spike x Rarity) shipping plot lines.

 

2. Hasbro using the show completely marketing tool even though that is the corporate goal of the show.

... Oh come on, the one with the Heart As Strong as Horses song is a really great episode, and those are really useful episodes to develop those characters, I'd like having some more, maybe they manage to work them out even better now

 

I went less of a lot of the things that were in S4. I want less ridiculous and over the top stories, I want less dumbing down of characters, and I don't want any more season-long plotlines, or at the very least I want less.

But those are watch make the show so reliable! I mean, it would be really weird for me if it was a show where no episode has connection with the others :/ I really thought everyone liked those as much as I did... I'm rather sad now that I've been proved wrong

 

Things I don't wish to see in Season 5?

 

Well, I was heartbroken to see Twilight Sparkle barely singing in Season 4, so no more excluding Twilight Sparkle from the songs, please!

THIS! THIIIIIS! I FULLY AGREE! But lets face it, Twilight sang one of the best Season 4 songs, along with Celestia, Luna and Cadence

 

 

- Poor distribution of feature episodes (5 or 6 Rainbow Dash ones and just 1 or 2 Rarity ones)

 

 

- Bad writing for my waifu (I'm looking at you, Season 3  :okiedokielokie: )

 

 

- Last, but certainly not least, a two parter for both the season premiere and the season finale - I love "A Canterlot Wedding" and "Twilight's Kingdom" but I think there's so much more appeal and purity in "The Best Night Ever" - THAT'S what this show is all about, and I'd love to see another finale like that

I agree with you, but I also agree with the guy from the first page who said he wants less villains and more development on the ones that currently exist, so I don't know, maybe a good mix of them both?

PS.: Generation 1 had the BEST villains.

I had the same feeling, but if the Cute Mark Crusaders get their Cutie Marks this season, we all know that it is the end.

Also, every great show must know when it is time to finish, and mlp will finish, and if someone asks me, it will be within three more seasons... why? Because I'm Pinkie Pie and I have Pinkie Senses
