One Art Piece a Month 2020 pt. 2

Hey guys! Here's my new entry for my self-imposed challenge to draw, complete, and post at least one drawing a month for the year of 2020. But no updates on new stuff this time. I actually wanted to share the art I did for the months of January and February, since I only started the blog THIS month. So let's start with January....   Arctic Zotl For this month, I actually decided to go easy on myself and just count a commission I was working on as my monthly art piece. The commissi

My Promotion to Full-Time

If you saw my status update, you'll already know that I got promoted to full-time at my work, but I wanted to make a permanent note of it since it's a big step forward in my life.  I'm getting a raise too...so it's likely I'll finally be fully independent in the not-so distant future.

Day 13: Pieces cut out

So all the pieces of the robot have been cut out. All that remains is for me to drill the holes to connect the pieces to the motors, as well as drill the hole at the top of the chasis to allow the control board to stick out. This sticking out bit is so that connecting the motors to the board is easier. So far so good. Recently I have been doing more work on the project keeping in check with the original lent project idea. The measurements have been fairly accurate though not perfect, but hey it'

Daring Do And The ...

Here is something I have started. I don't know when I will have time to work on it.    Down by the dock, the fog rolled in thick off the water. It was night and the temperature was dropping, which caused the humidity in the air to condense into water. The ports of Manehatten were often busy late at night. After all, ships might come into port at any hour. However, ships usually waited until morning to unload or leave port. Therefore, while it wasn’t unheard of to see ponies at the dock

Episode 60 - BEEP BEEP

Hey.  Y'know what really grinds my gears?  How every Celestia-damned sound in the world has to be a high-pitched, ear-piercing beep.  Sirens, car horns, microwaves, smoke alarms, cash registers, f*ckin' every notification sound of any kind has to be an ear-shattering beep.  I know I've already done multiple noise-related entries, like restaurant music and screaming children, but I wanted to take a moment to complain about the broader problem of high-pitched beeping everywhere. I have super

The fear for loved ones and the ones cared for

So a weekend ends. A weekend of anger and hatred. I again lost my cool. I let everything escalate inside me and all out closed anger bursted through the gates. For another times I said unwise words. Hurtful ones. I just let everything out but none I said was a lie. It was an outburst of truth and anger. But just as hurtful it was so disappointed am I. I'm disappointed by myself. This lost of discipline. All of that because of my own ego. Feeling like being in the wrong place, feeling unwanted an

One Art Piece a Month 2020 pt. 1

I’ve always wanted to make a blog, but could never think of something to write about. And then it suddenly hit me that my self-imposed art challenge this year would be perfect! Partially because you guys can help keep me motivated. Anyway, this is literally a resolution I made for New Years. I drew almost nothing last year. Granted I had a new job to focus on, but it still really bummed me out. So here I am, resolving to complete and post at least one fully colored drawing every month

Day 9: Pieces sketched out

Nothing much to say. I have outlined and drawn the pieces that I need to cut out and put together to make the robot physical. The only missing pieces are the connecting pieces which will just be small blocks of wood rather than sheets of wood. The robot is looking to be quite squat but hopefully it should still walk, if not I will just have to recreate the legs.

Critique

Criticism is a good writer’s best friend and a bad writer’s bane of existence. Some people use it as an excuse to just be an ass about your writing. Others legitimately want to help you. So let’s play a game. Is the following excerpt an example of constructive criticism or being an asshat: Woah, okay. Your pacing is way too fast here. What happened? Why does everything feel wonky here? You were doing okay before. Slow it down some. Critique Asshat Let’s try another one:

Those aren’t migraines.

I’ve been going to a neurologist for a long time. I’ve had migraines since the age of around 11. They’ve never been as bad as some people I know, but they suck all the same. My neurologist suggested back at the end of September that my migraines might be seizures. At first I was in denial. Then I was busy through October and November traveling. Finally at the beginning of December I was able to get an EEG. It took until today to get the follow up appointment because of scheduling shenanigans. I

Binary Math (Multiplication & SHL)

Before we start with multiplication, it is important to understand that basically every CPU out there has a built in multiplication instruction. Why is this important? Well, because when I started doing research about Binary Math for my blog, I had very limited understanding of how multiplication and division worked, and while division is not supported by low end CPUs, multiplication is. And I can assure you that I cannot disassemble a CPU to figure out how multiplication is done! The C and C+

Newly Rekindled Motivation

It's been a bit hard to find motivation to draw for a while, hence the over 4 months without a new entry here. But I think I've finally found a source of consistent motivation to actually sit down, grab a pencil (or drawing tablet), and draw. But you're not here to listen to me ramble. No, you want art.  Have an art!

Day 6: Revision

Well not necessarily regrets, but I am feeling like I am just posting things in here to say I have done something for the day. These are occuring later in the night so it's just chewing into sleeping time. Tomorrow and Wednesday I am unsure whether I'll even get a sketch in. But in light of how my time has been split I have a revision to how I will go about these challenges. I will aim to get a sketch out everyday, like today's it can be a quick 5-10 minute sketch if anything this is helping me

The chains of our souls.

Nothing great happened except a total outburst of emotions ending in an endless night of drinking booze and doing things that I swore would end. The hard truth of the day after seem to hit harder than all the jokes, all the insults by other people. But what’s left in the end is just a destroyed world. Every step forward I did is now gone. I'm further behind than I was in a long time. But all these things. All of our own actions keep not only consequences but also lessons to learn. Going three st

Day 5: Measuring Out Sections

So now that I am back out my house with access to all my motors, the raspberry pi and wood I was able to carry out a couple of measurings onto the wood. I decided to use yesterdays sketches as a rough guide as you where to place the motors but actually using the motors and board to get the correct dimensions. Tomorrow and over the week I probably will only be able to slowly draw out all of the pieces without cutting them, that will probably have to wait untill the weekend. Tbh I think this
