  1. Same for me, one of my favorite seasons as well. It was not perfect (no season is) but personally I really liked how they made an effort to give a sense of closure to many characters. === === === On a side-note, personally I do feel the school of friendship was one of the better ideas in this series. It really nailed that friendship is for everyone, not just for ponies, and that everyone can make friends and show kindness. It enriched the MLP experience for me by including other characters and cultures with the Student 6, and showing that no one is better or above the other. This is why I liked "She's all Yak" so much, because it made Twilight and her friends realize how others could feel uncomfortable by pony-only concepts, and made a sincere effort to adapt their traditions and include the Student 6 and their cultures in them. I thought it was a wholesome message about how understanding goes both ways.
  2. 28 Pranks later. Mean-spirited and a regression of Rainbow's character. Mysterious Mare Do Well comes close behind. I have a bit of a soft spot for Newbie Dash. There are issues with this episode but it addresses a character flaw of Rainbow Dash and nails how it's a problem.
  3. Season 1: Sonic Rainboom Season 2: Return of Harmony / Last Roundup Season 3: Sleepless in ponyville Season 4: Twilight's Kingdom Season 5: Lost Treasures of Griffinstone Season 6: Top Bolt Season 7: The Perfect Pear / Fame and Misfortune Season 8: The Break Up Break Down The final season was the most difficult for me with several episodes I liked a lot. Season 9: She's all Yak / Summer Sun Setback / Dragon Dropped / The Last Problem
  4. I agree with Cash In, the fandom will never fade away. it might go through some ups and downs but it will definitely remain alive. There are plenty of fandoms which had series ending years ago and still are going strong.
  5. It's possible that Discord's time with Fluttershy dulled his instincts and made him more naive. He probably assumed that he was the only one who could activate the bell and when they failed to retrieve it probably believed they would be harmless until Twilight was ready, and that his reputation as Grogar would be enough to keep them in line. The season 2 Discord was overconfident, but he would have been able to smell a betrayal from miles away. I feel the same way, although in my personal headcanon I added that Discord was always close watching Sombra and the Mane 6 throughout the premiere, and only revealed himself in the end when they were about to confront Sombra in Canterlot. Except for the Tree of harmony, I believe he would have intervened if either Sombra intended to kill Crystal Ponies or if the Mane 6 would have lost before they reached Canterlot. It would explain in my mind why Grogar left after sending Sombra away in the first half of the premiere.
  6. I'm sorry, I don't exactly understand what you mean with the first sentence. Or they're hiding it because there are potentially serious drawbacks to this kind of powerful magic. In season 3 Trixie for example had the Alicorn amulet but it was corrupting her. I just re-watched the duel between Trixie and Twilight. Trixie turned Snips and Snails into a foal and an old pony. Twilight stated that only the highest level unicorns can use age-related spells. Maybe you do have a point, maybe some kind of immortality isn't that far away.
  7. Let's assume the ponies were modified by someone or something. Would that make a difference for their current lifespans? There might be old spells or scrolls deep within the Canterlot Archives that deal with age-related magic. Tirek did mention Celestia and Luna hoarded information for themselves.
  8. If ponies were meant to live long lives nature would have given them that ability. Why do you think immortality would be an improvement? Unless the birthrates go down you would get overcrowding and shortage of resources.
  9. I understand what you mean. Yeah, we might have different opinions, but learning each other's perspectives is what makes discussions fun.
  10. I can see Discord getting so desperate at the idea of losing Fluttershy that he might be tempted to offer her some kind of indirect immortality. (Like saving her spirit or something) But unless he's driven insane I don't think he would ever go against Fluttershy's wishes. For him the only thing that matters is that Fluttershy is happy, and if she's at peace with reaching the end of her life he would probably come to terms with it. Knowing Fluttershy she probably won't be worried about herself at all; but instead worry about Discord's well-being and the animals in her sanctuary.
  11. If there ever would be a spell or power capable of upsetting the balance between life and death, it would probably require a huge amount of magic or a heavy price to be paid. (Like in the video in this thread) If Twilight could do it, she would likely only be able to (I'm only speculating here) grant immortality to a few before reaching a limit. Immortality might be fun for the first few decades or century, but then you begin to realize that everything around you is temporary. You have to see your friends and family pass away. You'll make new friends, only for you to lose them again. It's a cycle that will keep repeating itself, until you reach a point you might not want to attach yourself to anyone any longer out of fear of losing them again. For Twilight's friends immortality would be a curse and not a blessing. Twilight carries the burden of immortality (or a very long life) because she has accepted her role as leader of Equestria and resigned herself to it. It will be hard for Twilight, and she might be tempted to find ways to keep her friends around longer, but will eventually come to terms with it. Just like Fluttershy will prepare Discord for the idea or concept that she will eventually pass away, I can imagine Twilight's friends will be doing the same for her, as they would never want for them to be unhappy when they're gone. To be honest, I think Spike passing away will hit Twilight even harder, especially if her other friends are already gone. But dragons can get very old in this show, so it's possible Spike might actually outlive Twilight's reign (or even Twilight herself) --- There is a difference in seeing each other pass away in a normal life, and having to see others die from old age you weren't meant to (like Scootaloo or Little Cheese) because you weren't supposed to live this long. Twilight telling her subjects the other Mane 6 living this long is a side-effect of the Elements could work but it would still feel like she's lying to everyone. I'm not sure Twilight or the Mane 6 would be comfortable with the idea.
  12. That's a very good possibility. Taking over the animal sanctuary would also be a way to both keep Fluttershy's memory and legacy alive. I like your idea of Discord using a little magic to understand the animals, or Fluttershy might have taught him in those years they were together.
  13. Although it's understandable from an emotional perspective, would it really be right for Twilight to make her friends immortal? Even if such a spell existed it would be an abuse of power. Why only Twilight's friends? Why not others in Equestria? It would be an act others will inevitably frown upon. I'm not even sure the other Mane 6 would want to be immortal, as it would mean seeing everyone they care about (Scootaloo, Sweetie Belle, AppleBloom, Little Cheese, etc) grow old and pass away.
  14. It will be hard for him, but at this stage I think that Discord will have matured more and instead wants to keep Fluttershy's memory and kindness alive, and will go on to make new friends and be happy, just like Fluttershy would have wanted for him. For support he will definitely have Twilight and Spike (who will likely outlive the rest of the Mane 6)
  15. This is the best description I've read since I saw the finale about how Applejack and Rainbow Dash could have grown closer. I never thought about it in this way. === Lyra/Bonbon: Great couple, I was really happy to see them together in the end. Big Mac/Sugar Belle: I like them and they're adorable together. Good build-up in the later episodes. Pinkie Pie/Cheese Sandwich: I was cheering when "Little Cheese" came on screen. Pinkie Pie and Cheese Sandwich really fit together IMHO. They both love to make others laugh and because of that they can understand each other in ways others can't. Appledash: I can see them together. I have a soft spot for them as a couple, but at the same time I would also like it if they were just friends who have grown closer over the years. Fluttercord: I still can't help but laugh about the "I want to marry Discord" part in She talks to Angel. I like them together but I'm not sure if I like to see them as a couple. Yona/Sandbar: Love them. They are adorable together.
  16. I think the fact that the villains were able to work together (with a few bumps along the way) until the very end already showed they at least had some connection with or appreciation for each other. I felt the message was more that friendship doesn't magically solve everything; you should also have the desire to change.
  17. Best: She's all Yak: Heartwarming and wholesome. Dragon Dropped: Very relatable. I experienced something similar and fell in the trap of jealousy. The Last Problem: An emotional and memorable ending to a series that has been a part of me for almost 10 years. Worst: Sweet and Smoky: Was not a fan of Garble's change, especially because I still didn't find him sympathetic enough after all he did to Spike. 2, 4, 6, Great... Rainbow Dash at her worst.
  18. You make a very good point. I hadn't thought at all about the cultural part of Ahuizotl. === One thing I'm wondering though, would Daring Do return the artifacts she had already taken from the Basin? With everything now being resolved, there would no longer be a need for her to keep them safe.
  19. It could be argued (not excused) that Ahuizotl was driven insane by Daring Do's continued incursions into the Tenochtitlan Basin. Communication didn't work because they both got the wrong impression of each other. Ahuizotl seeing Daring Do as just another greedy artifact thief, and Daring Do seeing Ahuizotl as just a monster. (Ahuizotl did say "He gets that a lot") Instead those two got locked into a rivalry that presumably kept on going for years. Daring Do kept coming back which lead Ahuizotl to a point where he would come up with (cruel) ways to either scare or kill Daring Do so she would never come back.
  20. I enjoyed this episode. It was fun. I especially liked how they made the truth amulet a part of the story. There was some fun dialogue (especially Rainbow's "Spa Deluxe Package") and I really liked how Daring Do and Caballaron used the amulet to make their promise to Ahuizotl. Two villains changing in one episode was a bit much (especially Ahuizotl) but the idea behind it was good.
  21. I had the same feeling when watching the episode. The only thing I felt this episode needed was a few more minutes to flesh out the story a little more. But the concept and idea behind it was interesting.
  22. Great episode. Really enjoyed this one. Felt very relatable too.
