  1. It's just how fantoms work, and MLP:FiM is just in that position that it experienced a large surge in internet popularity. Replace "MLP:FiM" with "Digimon: Digital Monsters" and there would be complaints from people about that. Being an IndyCar fan can be difficult when all you hear on the American racing medium is NASCAR NASCAR NASCAR! A friend of mine who is definitely NOT a brony has never complained about such things, so I doubt it's a serious issue.
  2. There is no solid yes or no for me. My main 'sons, Pathfinder, is like me in a lot of ways. I tried to have him mirror my personality for the most part, but I don't stand by that on strict terms. As such, Pathfinder is much more willing than me to break down certain failings and follow his dreams. But at the same time I have other OCs, and they represent other parts of my that Pathfinder doesn't. For example, Sojourner mirrors my love of history and adventure while Corsair shows off my appreciation for freedom and following your own path. It's complicated, but simple.
  3. I'm not sure if I can say I support any certain pairing, BUT there are some I like. Twidash is easily my favorite of the mane 6 pairings as I can imagine differences attracting. It's a similar story to Rarijack. I also happen to like Sombra x Chrysalis; though I can imagine that being more political than anything. And thanks to the comics, Celestia x good Sombra.
  4. Well, I would think she would like classical at first, but after coming back after 1000 years, I can see her getting into some metal and, eventually, symphonic metal. I think she would appreciate the complexity and musicianship of both orchestral and metal music, and I think she can appreciate the somewhat aggressive tone of some metal out there. I can see Trixie being an indie lover, but also of punk ska. As for the KING OF SHADOWS, maybe he would like some death metal?
  5. Admittedly I only just got into the comics after marathoning the main series. I'm kinda surprised the criticism the current arc is getting, though I can understand why. Personally, I'm Celestia here. I can see why many people wouldn't, but for me, it kinda puts her on everyone else's level and, therefore, more relatable. This is something I can appreciate because it gives me a reason to like her more and respect her situation. Yes, some of her decisions haven't been the best, but I can understand why she made them. I can't wait for the next issue! Also, I haven't tried the micro or friends forever yet, but I hope to get to those soon.
  6. This is pretty much the only fighting series that I am excited for as the last few SoulCaliburs have been somewhat underwhelming (though fun, in any case). Hated that song, though I doubt it will have anything to do with the finished product.
  7. This pleases the King verrrrrrry much~
  8. I really have no preference. He was a great and entertaining villain whose main flaw was his overconfidence which essentially painted a big target on him. Saying that, he was also great fun during his reformation process. I mean, recall the episode "Three's a Crowd." He wasn't entirely evil; he was just having fun at others expense. Not a good thing mind you, but not world-conquering either. I am really interested in seeing what the writers have in store for Discord. He certainly has plenty of potential!
  9. This might be cheating in a way, but... 1. Lord of the Rings trilogy 2. Star Wars trilogy (original) 3. Gojira 4. King Kong (1933) 5. Dragonheart
  10. Well, let's just say that I just marathoner through the entire main series. Thankfully, upgrading to OSX Mavericks grants me the use of iBooks, so therefore I can download comics. I honestly enjoyed those FAR more than I anticipated. I haven't got to the Micro or Friends Forever series yet, but right now, I'm content. So AWESOME indeed. Now I can't wait for the next issue!
  11. Actually, thanks to an upgrade I did today, I should be able to purchase the comics from iTunes and view them on my mac here. I've been wanting to read those things for a while now, so it is awesome to be able to do that now.
  12. By the Nine, I love symphonic metal.

Listening to some Fairyland right now; also have Rhapsody of Fire, Luca Turilli's Rhapsody, Therion, and Nightwish as well. Not to mention the L-Train!

  13. Just wanted to thank everyone for the welcomes and brohoofs. You guys know how to make someone feel welcome. Thanks! Brohoof /
  14. I recently rewatched this episode a few nights ago, and my opinion has certainly changed, as has that of a certain unicorn villain. 1. For me, King Sombra kicks so much ass in this episode. I recognize that I may be in the minority here, but he just worked for me as a villain. Granted he didn't get a lot of screen time, but for the time of villain he is, he didn't really need it. You knew he was there; biding his time, waiting for the perfect time to make his move. His presence was felt, and he had weight enough to make the characters continually fear him. I especially loved the end of part one when Cadence's shield fails and it ends with the dark cloud slowly encroaching on the city as Sombra's face emerges. That scene alone was done right, IMO. To add to that, his traps were actually pretty clever and even gave Twilight plenty of trouble. Sombra knew what he was doing, and from what I can tell, was probably the smartest of the villains thus far. While I'm sure he had a huge ego, he seemed to be able to keep it in check a lot better than Chrysalis or Discord were able to. To me, personally, he is the best villain thus far. 2. Now, villain-gushing out of the way, I felt that the episode just worked for me. The atmosphere was right, and the mane 6's attempts at keep the crystals ponies attention was down-right humorous. Gotta love poor Fluttershy here. There were moments that actually made me LOL, such as Pinkie's flugal horn issues. Overall, it all just worked for me. 3. Also, I LOVE how the Crystal Empire is designed. Just love this episode, though I can understand why some didn't care for it.
  15. Redemption is a good thing is pulled off right; however it shouldn't go too far. I mean, it's one thing is someone like Renard from "Gargoyles" is redeemed, but we still need the like of Jafar and Maleficent to be evil. Why? Because that is just THEM! As such, I can accept Discord's redemption because it makes sense for him. As much as we loved him in "Return of Harmony" I think we could only go so far with his character; especially as he became a recurring character. On Trixie...well, I don't count her as evil, just an antagonist. However, a good story needs villains, which is why I wouldn't really be for Chrysalis, Sombra, or Tirek turning over a new leaf because they are effective at what they are.
  16. I try to avoid having and predictions as they tend to set expectations that aren't always met, but if I have any hopes, it is these: 1. Some attention on Celestia and/or Luna 2. Some more Trixie 3. Expanding on any lore or history 4. The return of some villains like Chrysalis and especially Sombra
  17. I doubt the fandom itself will end, but I can see it going through a contraction; which is something just about every fandom goes through. Remember when the Digimon anime was a big thing? It contracted, but the fandom itself still exists. Same goes for some video game fandom. Think of Phantasy Star and Spyro the Dragon. Heck, even the much maligned Atari Jaguar console has a following. No fandom dies, but they all eventually hit a stage of contraction. How big said contraction will be is the question, though.
  18. Well, let be somewhat detailed: 1. My favorite is easily Princess Luna, and it's largely because she is somewhat relatable while also having a very interesting background & history. Granted some of the stuff is head-canon territory, but that is also one of the things that makes Luna SO interesting. Not everything is explained, so you can come up with your own stuff if you wish. It's like the Forbidden Land in the game "Shadow of the Colossus" in that we have no idea who the inhabitants were and what happened to them. Ambiguous histories like these are usually among the most interesting, IMO. As for Luna herself, her downfall & redemption make her relatable and sympathetic I believe. She knows what it's like to make a large mistake and is still paying for it as she lives. It's a constant reminder for her as she strives to better herself and teach other ponies not to make those same errors. I also love her design & color scheme; Just so beautiful. 2. A close second would be the Great & Powerful Trixie! Like Luna, we don't know much about her outside of her appearances in Ponyville. Where did she come from? Why is she so boastful? How did she come upon her cutie mark and what does it really represent? Also like Luna she represents fall & redemption, but she also represents revenge. Plus, her boasting is actually one of my favorite traits about her, which is weird as I usually don't care for cocky characters. I guess it's her smug smile and self-confidence that drive this. Anywho, she's awesome, and she is secretly Luna's student. MY HEAD CANON DANG IT!
  19. I'm a fan of the sport, though not really of the EPL itself. I actually prefer the German Bundesliga, with my favorite team being Bayern Munich. I'm also a big fan of Major League Soccer & Sporting Kansas City as I think it's important to support the home league. To be fair though it was Liverpool that got me into the sport, so I have a soft spot for them!
  20. There are a few points that I think we can consider in regards to the reasons for Discord's betrayal: 1. Credit has to be given to Lord Tirek himself. One of the things that made him such a strong and cunning villain is that he is a great manipulator, AND he has the power to back it up. In a sense can you blame Discord? He might have been reformed, but he wasn't infallible. Had he stood against Tirek like the alicorns did he could've very well ended up in a similar state to that of King Sombra. 2. Again I want to being up his reformation. We had seen time and time again that while he didn't mind helping the mane 6, he also had his own plans. Remember "Three's A Crowd?" He pretty much lied the entire time and put both Cadence & Twilight in harms way. I can somewhat relate in that I have dealt with people who are overcoming serious problems, but usually end up reverting back to a previous state for one reason or another. They seem like they're better, but eventually they fall back in a destructive cycle. Similarly while we see Discord give hints to Twilight & co., about the lockbox, he did it in his 'own' way. So, to me, his betrayal was VERY believable. 3. Kinda relates to #2 in that even if he was greatly reformed, he isn't perfect. Just like Luna when she transformed into Nightmare Moon, Discord can easily fall back into evil I believe.
  21. For me, that would the Peter Jackson's "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy. I have seen these movies multiple times and they NEVER get old. It's so big, imaginative, and epic it gets me every time. Honorable mentions: original Star Wars trilogy, Gojira, King Kong (33), Atlantis: The Lost Empire, Fantasia, and some others...
  22. Well, to start off I want to say hello to my fellow bronies out there, and I would also like to say thank you to those who created this fine community and to those who uphold it today! As for me, well I like to just describe myself as friendly, though I can be shy here and there. I'm also somewhat nerdy as I am heavily into gaming. That is really my main hobby considering I have been into video games since the NES days with the Sega Genesis & PS1 being my definitive consoles that ultimately led me into gaming. You can thank Spyro the Dragon for ultimately being my first gaming obsession, lol. As you can guess I am heavily into "Friendship is Magic" and have been since the first season. I just love the series for it's overall charm; as well as its characters, storylines, music, animation, lore, and the like. It's really difficult for me to pick out an episode as my 'favorite,' but as it stands, I just love the series as a whole. Now, best pony is...well, Luna, so yeah, I am a Luna fan. But Trixie is pretty close, lol. Also, King Sombra is best villain! All IMO of course. As for my other interests, I like IndyCar, soccer, & hockey, though I am NOT a sports not. These are just the main sports that I do happen to like and follow. I am also a big fan of certain types of metal music (power, symphonic, progressive) and orchestral music (classical & movie/tv/game music). I have a sizeable interest in fantasy & science fiction media as I have a strong liking for Star Trek, Star Wars, Babylon 5, Battlestar Galactica, Lord of the Rings, and Game of Thrones; among others. Now, aside from that...probably all I can recall. So yeah, I hope to become a contributing member and make some friends here cause, as you know, Friendship IS Magic!
  23. Not that it really matters, but Mark is definitely not a brony. Saying that he is respectful to bronies and never says a bad thing about them/us. FiM is just not his thing and that's fine. I still love his videos (2nd to Achievement Hunter of course).
