  1. Yeah no. Thousands, if not millions, of people have claimed of being able to use magic in public. Are you telling me all of them have gotten killed because of it? And every single one got killed before they were able to prove that their abilities were real.
  2. Cool, except that comparison falls apart fairly quickly once you realise that this is phenomenon is constant, and just doesn't magically appear whenever it's convient for the researchers. Odd how they're never capable of healing people who are able to prove they were sick before visiting them. Yeah yeah, then just use something that nobody cares about. Like, magically make my toaster burn my bread slightly less. But that be pretty relevant, since it's prove the existence of the supernatural. And that's relevant how? Why should I assume that most magical practiconals aren't the ones who are wrong? Neither side can prove jack shit. But whatever, then just use a guy who can use magic to do [X], have him do [X] via magic, repeat until you no longer can claim coincidence. Bam, magic proven. This would be a more fit comparisons had the first black hole been found 2000 years ago and we still wouldn't have any proof of it. What about those that don't? There's thousands of people claiming to be able to use magic, why haven't they just proven there capable of doing so by now?
  3. Then don't test it in a lab. Just watch someone who claim to be able to cast magic do so where ever they feel comfortable doing so. Then don't just use it for testing. Use it to heal a sick guy or something. Just something we're capable of seeing the results of. Then use it for something that everybody wants. Like, de-pollution the waters or something. Then let's use one of the people who claim to be able to use magic. If they focused enough in the past, they should be able to do so again. Take one of those people who claim to have crystals capable of curing cancer. Let her use said crystal to cure the cancer of people not having any other treatment. Repeat the process until you can't claim it's coincide. There, that be proving magic without knowing how it works or how to measure it.
  4. Yeah, they don't really explain anything though. That's not the question we should be asking. What we should be asking is why does magic only work when nobody is questioning it? Like, you're trying to tell me that magic and people being able to use it have been around for all of recorded history, but as soon as they gonna prove it's real it stops working? Well, that's really convient. Good question. Since magic have a tangible effect, it should be easy to prove it's existance even if we can't figure out how it works or how to measure it.
  5. No, but back then we had no way of observing those. Meanwhile plenty of people nowadays, even some members of this forum, claim to be able to cast magic or having seen somebody else do so. Hence, the existance of magic should have been easily proven by now if it were real.
  6. That's pretty much what happens in the finale of season 5, though.
  7. Just to be clear, the fact that a single person opened of a pony themed cafe doesn't prove anything regarding the shows popularity in Japan. Espically not since the cafe in question were more inspired by the previous generations. I mean, do we talk about pony in any specific country much? For example, I don't recall any topics about "Pony in Sweden" or "Pony in Germany".
  8. Whilst I fail to see why that's a bad thing, I don't think that's true. There's plenty of room open for discussion. One can, for example, discuss why I'm wrong and how sad episode is totally an accurate representation of Equestria under Nightmare Moons rule.
  9. I get that it's not very fun, but not everything is. Cool, let's analyze what we see then. Isn't it fairly likely that the other villains simply never appared in Nightmare Moons reality? Like, it's an alternate timeline so multiple events could differ from the normal timeline. This could mean that the CMC never met, and therefore couldn't fight in front of Discord Statue, thus not triggering the event that de-petrified Discord. As for Chrysalis, the changelings were mainly after a food source and maybe Equestria wasn't just as filled with love under Nightmare Moon as it was in the normal timeline. This in turn could mean that the changelings simply didn't think that Equestria would be worth taking over. As for Sombra, maybe Cadance were able to find the Crystal heart in time or something. Tirek could have slipped on a rock and broken his neck. In short, there are other reasons other than Nightmare Moon as for why her rule was so peaceful. I disagree, the whole scenario is flawed to such an extent that you can't ignore it. The idea that the alternate timeline in question gives any form of insight into how rule under Nightmare Moon would have been just doesn't work when you consider the giant plotholes in the story. My point is that we shouldn't take Nightmare Moon's timeline at face value, especially not anything revolving around other villains. If we shouldn't talk about the alternate timeline in Nightmare Moon won, stop using it as evidence of how much of a threat she is. As fun as arguing about a cartoon show is, I'm not gonna waste 18 minuets of my life to do so.
  10. I'm sorry, but I don't really understand what any of that has to do with what I said. Edit: Also, my point still stands. Regardless of how much you read into Nightmare Moons timeline, it shouldn't be taken as proof that Nightmare Moon can deal with threats like Discord, Tirek, etc. As I pointed out previously, even in the Flim and Flam timeline, none of the other villains were around so either the writers wanted to show what the world would look like if [Insert villain here] had won and simply didn't care about how little sense it made that none of the other villains were around, or Flim and Flam were able to deal with the likes of Discord or Tirek. I know which of those scenarios sounds more likely to me. This is also helped by the fact that Luna appears in the Discord timeline, which shows that Celestia was able to defeat her even without the elements of harmony.
  11. I wouldn't call that brainwashing, it's just a natural part of growing up that you stop taking what others tell you at face value and reach your own conclusions about how the world works. And besides, wouldn't it be easier to control people by not giving them a "everything must have a logical explination" mindset? Otherwise, they're probably just gonna start questioning you sooner or later.
  12. Yeah, can you just summarize his point for me? I'm too lazy to watch the entire video.
  13. Let's say I buy that explination, but what about the war with Sombra? Or Chrysalis? Or Nightmare Moon? Or Discord? Did all of them suddenly grow bored and walked away, letting Flim and Flam walk in and take over?
  14. How? Calling everything you don't understand "magic" doesn't mean that it actually is.
  15. But is that a result of the actions of Nightmare Moon, or shitty writing? IMO, the argument that Nightmare Moons is a threat because she was able to defeat the other villains fall apart the second you remember that all the different timeline we saw in that episode only included one villain. Like, unless you wanna argue that Flim and Flam were somehow able to defeat Tirek, you shouldn't take that episode at face value.
  16. Honestly, I think the reason Nightmare Moons timeline was so peaceful were less because of anything Nightmare Moons did, and more because the writers wanted to show what Equestria would look like under her rule. After all, all the different timeline we were showed in that episode only focused on one of the villains.
  17. Nope, I'm 100% sure that magic doesn't exist. If it did, it would have been proven a hundreds times over by now.
  18. Personally, I think Celestia is more popular. Not only does Celestia actually rule over Equestria unlike Luna who seems to function more as therapist, she kept it safe from treaths for a thousands years whilst Luna were nearly reasonable for it's destruction not once, but twice. Didn't that particular tradition start less out of respect and more out of fear?
  19. I played it a bit, it's factually fairly fun. As for characters, I have to say that shoot style deku is really underrated.
  20. No, male characters dominate practically every other half decent show so it's a bit refreshing to watch something with only female main characters What's the difference between this and "SJW" diversity?
  21. Personally, I think that the show should have ended after season six.
  22. I don't really see the point of it myself, but that's mostly because I think a convention focused entirely on a single show is a bit silly.
  23. Frankly, any system in which you have to choose between financial stability for you and your family or getting cancer treatment isn't a very good system.
