Gentlemen, I am no fluffy animal easy to bruise. I appreciate the defense, Accord, but it is not needed. It was not a joke, but it was an exaggeration. I've studied Christianity about the same as any other faith, and while the teachings are subjective, the fact exists that Exodus 20:5 does indeed say the future generations will suffer for the sins of their progenitor simply because God is a jealous being. But I digress, I will not derail this thread by continuing this here. The exaggeration indeed served my purpose in quickly describing the Imperial Creed and its benefits over other faith - the same as any who would preach their belief. If you would like to continue this discussion, I would be more than willing to do so in a different thread or private conversation. I also realized I forgot to answer your question on which rank I would hold. If I joined the Steel Confessors I would be a Techmarine, or possibly a Chaplain; for Space Wolves, a Runepriest. There was a neat book I came across before called the "Tao of Pooh", where it compares the personalities and actions of the characters in the Whinny the Pooh stories to the teachings of Taoism. It was definitely an interesting read, as it presents the fundamentals of Taoism in easy to digest segments. The book does get a little preachy, and does repeat itself, but it was a good way to pass time slowly reading it.

Wolves, or Steel Confessors - I'm jaded against the Codex Astartes and the changes brought about with the lore redux in 5th edition. As for your second question, yes. But a little exaggeration is good for the soul, especially if it inspires you to do better.

I wouldn't say I was overzealous, but I'll let you decide with some of the following evidence: Some analyzations done for a Minecraft project: http://i.imgur.com/p2v6DDz.jpg A personal update to the official map to include all sites and locations (done during the S4 - S5 hiatus) http://i.imgur.com/nSWWZ5r.png I made my own personal copy: http://i.imgur.com/0GInM.jpg

May the Emperor protect you as you rise to claim the stars.
-
I lay claim to this term. I'll come up with a definition later...

The Imperial Creed started with Warhammer 40,000 but the fans have taken it further. While the beliefs of the Creed in Warhammer are twisted into something dark - like everything else in the setting that defined the term 'grimdark', when you peel away the twisted layers you find a belief system that simply says that you are awesome for being a human and Humanity can do amazing things. Basically... You are awesome. Continue to be awesome. Inspire others to be awesome. Never stop reaching for the stars.

I can never accept spirituality for what is out there in the mainstream of the world today. For me, the God-Emperor and the Imperial Creed is my guiding light: "Christ tells you you are sinful beyond redemption through no fault of your own. The Emperor tells you to be proud. You are human, perfect in form, perfect in mind. Nothing on the face of the world compares to you. Your love; your joy; your anger; and yes, even your hate, is to be human. It is to be true to your nature. Christ offers you shame. The Emperor offers you pride in who you are. "Allah expects mere obedience, yet what does he offer in return? Nothing, except sparing us his lash as long as we continue our obeisance. The Emperor asks for your loyalty, but only in his cause, that of all mankind, to build a better future. For that future he gave everything. What has Allah sacrificed? "What of the Hindu and Buddhists? They tell us this world is suffering. That to abandon hope and desire is the best a man can hope for. Lies. Every word. "The future of mankind is the stars. It is unity throughout the skies, to see the wonders of the universe laid out before him. There is something special in all of us. The spark of life and joy and happiness. The human soul, pure and incorruptible. It's spirit burns brighter than a billion torches in the dark, banishing the shadows of defeatism and gloom. Never listen to those who tell you that life is suffering and existence is meaningless. That way madness and decay lies. "I tell you this brothers, a message that needs telling more now than ever. It is a simple message, that should be heard in every corner of the globe, echoing from the highest mountain to the deepest oceans: "We are HUMANITY. "We have PURPOSE. "WE ARE BROTHERS! "All of us. "Forget our petty wars and divisions, for the greater struggle lies out there, against a universe that has recognised our greatness and in it's fear seeks to destroy us. We can be united, the Emperor has shown us the way forward. Free from the lies of false prophets, the jealous falsehoods of dying gods, united in the great mission that lies ahead." Is there any other religion/spirituality that tells you that you are capable of doing something and that you are good? Because every other belief system I have seen just plain craps on you and your worldview. You're either a sinner or a fool or unenlightened. The Imperial Creed revels in the fact that Humanity can go and do good without being shackled by fear and superstition.

Starve to death or drown (to death)?
Sintanan replied to iDashingRainbow's topic in General Discussion
Drown Specifically, I am choosing to drown in my own vomit after drinking myself into a blackout so I cannot feel a thing. -

Okay, okay... it wasn't murder... The comic just had body mutilation, slavery, kidnapping, accidental property damage, and involuntary manslaughter.

Ah, my bad. I thought it was other ponies. Can't blame me, though... it's been a good couple decades since I've seen these comics... Also... they're online? I know where my Friday is going~

Actually, I was talking about the origin comic that accompanied the sparkle eye/gemstone eye ponies. An evil wizard kidnaps ponies to spend the rest of their lives mining gems. Some of the 'main ponies' stumble upon the cave, get captured by the evil wizard, and go to free the slave ponies and themselves only to find the slave ponies are blind. The main ponies confront the evil wizard and buck him into a ravine, free the blind slave ponies, and lead them all safely outside. Turns out the eyes of the slaves that were mutilated and blinded by the gemstone dust actually glint in the sunlight allowing them to see and giving them sparkly eyes. Yay happy endings!

What are you supposed to do with a bible?
Sintanan replied to ManaMinori's topic in General Discussion
Well, if the Backwater Gospel has taught me anything... you carve out part of the bible so you can hide a gun inside. -
Have you ever made an idiot of yourself?
Sintanan replied to Tom Snyder's topic in General Discussion
Appreciate the sympathy, but it isn't needed. College was 9 years ago, and my second mistake I shared was 3 years ago. I've gotten over them for the most part. The thing that I hate the most is that men are expected to be emotional rocks and not talk about things like this. So, for about two years I've was dealing with my mixed bag of emotions over her without having anyone to confide in. Doing better now, but it's a slow road to undo 30 years of emotional barriers, compartmentalization, and not relying on support from others. -
Have you ever made an idiot of yourself?
Sintanan replied to Tom Snyder's topic in General Discussion
Oh, countless times. Many of which I can look back and laugh about, so they aren't that bad... However, there's two times I can recall in recent memory where I can't easily shrug them off. Once in college. Partied, blacked out. Woke up with some strange girl sleeping between my legs... and my pants nowhere to be found. I never could find those pants, so to add insult to injury of being hungover and missing the last 12 hours of my life, I had to cross campus in the dead of an Alaskan winter to my dorm wearing my shirt wrapped around my waist as a makeshift kilt and shoes. The other time... I thought I was in love with this gal, but found out she was just using me as a walking wallet and a roof over her head. Still hurts to think about her. So, yeah, super big idiot for giving my heart to her. -
Slavery, kidnapping, body mutilation, and straight up murder. This was from one comic short. So, yeah, I'd say the G1 ponies are a touch more hardcore once you look under the cutesy coating.
