What do you like and dislike about Mlp?
J. Brony replied to Bluenavyangel's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
What I like about the show: It's cheerful atmosphere. It's positive message. The music. Seriously, it's awesome. The humor. Not too childish, not too serious. What I dislike about the show: Stories are a little too simplistic sometimes. Needs more adventure and less slice-of-life. What I like about the fandom: The fanworks. Music, art, animations, fiction, etc. How welcoming and tolerant (most of) the community is. What I dislike about the fandom: How a lot of fans go ballistic over events that occur in the show. (Twilicorn, Equestria Girls) How some fans can take a cartoon written for kids and grossly over-analyze it's material as if it contained the riddle of life itself. Shipping. All of it. How some of us argue over our opinions and use them as blunt objects to beat each other over the head with. -

What if Daring Do is Rainbow Dash's mother?

If Twilight has to go back in time to counter Starlight's plan but is unable to cast Starswirl's spell because it hasn't been finished in their current time period. Instead she ends up having to use Doctor Whooves' time machine, which looks strangely like a phone booth with a TV antennae on top of it. But in order to activate it, they must harness the power of 1.21 gigawatts of power.

Her name is actually Krystal, an OC created by AGirl3003 on Deviantart. The image was stolen by a Chinese restaurant and then later appeared in a Tweet by M.A. Larson before finally coming to the attention of the original artist. Quite a trip for this little dragon. But yeah, a character like this would make a perfect friend for Spike to hang around with in the show. We've only seen a handful of younger dragons in a single episode and they all turned out to be jerks. Surely there's a nice dragon girl out there for Spike somewhere.

I think Spike's infatuation with Rarity adds a little much-needed depth to his character. But it's been nearly 5 seasons now and nothing has come of it so perhaps it's time to move on. I've mentioned in a couple of other threads that the writers should introduce either a female dragon or a filly who was raised by a dragon into the show. This would not only help to break Spike away from Twilight and Rarity but also provide an opportunity to further develop his character and even give him something positive to do in the show.

spoiler The one character who's execution is flawless: Discord
J. Brony replied to Silver Stream.'s topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
My thoughts exactly. If you stop and think about it, every single time that Discord has shown up, Twilight has emerged from the encounter as a better person and learned a valuable lesson. In my headcanon, Discord represents chaos, providing the Yin to the Tree of Harmony's Yang and fulfilling a role similar to Celestia's in teaching Twilight all that she needs to know to fulfill her destiny as a princess. He's just been doing it from the opposite end of the spectrum, playing the part of villain rather than mentor. -
spoiler Twilight is a horrible princess of friendship
J. Brony replied to ManaMinori's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
Exactly. A lot of people assume that just because Twilight was dubbed the Princess of Friendship that she's all of a sudden become the perfect friend to everypony in Equestria. That's not the case though; Twilight is still learning what it means to be a good friend and empathize with others, even herself as was illustrated in today's episode. And I think that that's the point. Twilight's ascension as an Alicorn princess has been more about the journey to reach that point than actually reaching it. And that journey is far from over. Twilight still has a long way to go before she can truly live up to her title. -
The issue was never addressed in the show but I've seen a lot of fanworks that mention Luna being the one who sets the stars in the sky. The most popular is the song "Do you want to see the moon rise?" by Eilemonty. It contains these lyrics: I know it's far from canon but this is all I've got. Oh, and also this.

Shouldn't the Mane Six and Humane Six meet now?
J. Brony replied to KillerKingBakudan's topic in Equestria Girls
Something like this would be the best way to tackle the situation. In the first season of FIM Twilight was summarizing her friendship lessons in letters to Princess Celestia. But in season 2 the rest of the Mane 6 began detailing their own experiences. In EQG Sunset Shimmer is writing to Twilight in the same manner. I don't see why the Humane 6 can't write to their pony counterparts like this. And sending pictures back and forth through the portal whenever Twilight pops in for a visit would also be cool. But an actual in-person meetup would be a bad idea, not just because Celestia said it was dangerous but also because the fans would go ballistic. -
Theory Are the changelings returning?
J. Brony replied to Underling 1000's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
Aside from the lone Changeling at the wedding, where else were they mentioned? I must have missed them because I can't recall. Anyway, yeah. Maybe not a full-scale invasion, but the writers really need to do at least one episode that centers on the Changelings. I've seen two solid concepts, the first being the Twilight/Fluttershy episode concerning how each would deal with a colony of hungry Changelings and the second centered around a pony in love with a Changeling (in pony form) trying to fit in with a society that shuns him. I'd love to see both of these concepts crop up in the future but I'm not holding my breath. -
Yes. But it seems to be working fine. I've made several edits since I posted this and haven't encountered the problem again. Unless it starts happening again, I'm satisfied chalking it up to lag.

I really think Treehugger's comment was a one-off based on the Flower Children's culture of the late sixties. They were known to give themselves new names that were more expressive of their souls or some such thing. I recall a girl who dropped her given name and claimed the identity of one "Rainbow Butterfly", insisting that she be referred to as such. Kinda sounds like a pony name right? Treehugger wanting to change her name to "Tree Embrace" sounds like a reference to this, considering her character design was based on the Flower Children to begin with.

I'm getting more excited for mlp generation 5
J. Brony replied to ManaMinori's topic in Sugarcube Corner
Probably but they might include rebooted versions of Gen 4 characters. Applejack has been in every generation so far so she'll likely be carried over to the new show. But yeah, I think Hasbro will stick with the Earth Pony, Unicorn and Pegasus formula for races. But I can see them incorporating Flutterponies and Sea Ponies into the next generation if there's enough demand for them coming from the fanbase. -
My interest in MLP started with xxHomerSimpsonxx's Pony Thread Simulator videos on Youtube. I can't recall why I started watching them but they were hilarious. Later, Dish Network lost the rights to Cartoon Network for a while due to a dispute with Time Warner. They replaced the channel with Discovery Kids. One afternoon I caught the last couple of minutes of Rarity Takes Manehattan and I was like "Hey, that's that Rainbow Dash pony that all the people in Homer's vids want to inseminate." Then I watched a couple of episodes, mostly out of curiosity. Then I started watching daily. Then I was checking the programming schedule and making a point of being home to watch the show. I didn't want to admit it but I found myself actually enjoying the show. I tried to give up on it because it wasn't "manly" but I went into a depression and returned to the Herd two weeks later. One day I admitted to my friends that I was considering becoming a Brony, purely for ironic reasons. Then, before I knew it, I'd watched all four seasons and was excited to watch both EQG girls when their aired on Thanksgiving. After that I purchased the DVDs, started frequenting Equestria Daily for news, looking for fan videos on Youtube, artwork on Deviantart, etc. And finally I joined this forum and started socializing with you lot.

I think it's due in part to the "girlie" stigma that comes with watching MLP. Rarity's penchant for dress-designing kinda reinforces the fact that we're all watching a show that was originally centered around little girls. Plus, Hasbro has used Rarity as a vehicle to market more EQG toys based off of her in-show designs.

I am using Google Chrome. EDIT: I also experienced a little slowdown while posting earlier so maybe the edit was just lagging for some reason. I'm not sure. But everything seems to be functioning normally right now.

The quick edit button is still dodgy. I tried to edit a post earlier but couldn't do so using the button at the bottom of the screen (between "report" and "multiquote"). A had to use the full editor. But I was able to edit posts elsewhere using it with no problems.
