  1. That is called the Artist's Curse. You work on a piece and you improve while doing so and so you don't notice the difference... because you improved. If you don't like drawing for the art of story telling or emotion feeling then you're into art for the wrong reason I think.

  3. #FFFFFF or #222222, but that is just one rule of thumb. If neither of those really stick out then experiment with borders and drop shadows using the opposite color. It's hard to really say the improvement will be noticeable I've only told you about 1 part of making a good signature (the typography). You really want to try and aim for having most of the elements of design represented well in the piece.
  4. Because it was not taken.
  5. General rule of thumb: Don't use green text.

  7. 2 examples doesn't really seem like very good evidence. She burrowed because she is pinkie pie and she moved out of the way because she didn't want to get hit.
  8. You can't really teach someone how to shade. The only thing you can do is teach them how to take what they know and apply it to digital painting. To learn to shade you have to draw from life. Tip 1) Stop using black for the outline. Or just stop outlining them all together. Tip 2) Get a tablet. Tip 3) Don't start learning to draw by drawing cartoons.

Well it's not awful. I do feel like you lose the figure with the clothes, but thats probably because you didn't draw a figure. You seem like you're pretty close on the human anatomy. I think you just need to do some studies if you have/aren't already doing them. Also, invest in some printer paper.
  10. Slow down, dude. You're skipping some steps. Go back and draw fruit. Study some color theory. Do some human studies. Then try again. The things taught in art classes aren't just for laughs and giggles. Also I get the feeling that you're using a mouse to draw this... (don't use a mouse to draw on the computer).
  11. Yes. Pretend that you are a painter using a brush and a canvas. In real life, you don't get layers.
  12. On a scale of 1 - 10, 10 being that you'd like to make professional grade art someday even if it's just a hobby and 1 being lol w/e man, how much do you want to improve?
  13. I'm not going to bash you for trying unusual techniques, so don't take it that way. Experimentation is the only way to truly improve. That being said, using overlays and effects on one part of the drawing makes that one part awkward. I'd highly recommend not using layer effects until you're a master artist that actually knows what overlay is doing to the art on a technical level. I'd also not recommend using the smudge tool. This is a common trap that many new digital artist fall into. Photoshop is used for multiply things. The main thing it's used for is photo manipulation. As such, 99% of Photoshop's tools are designed for photos, not drawings. I'd highly HIGHLY recommend you stick with just the brush and eraser tool for EVERY part of the drawing. Lastly the texture on the hair, while being good, does not work with the drawing. It is very out of place against Pinkie's skin. If you are going to do that to the hair then I'd recommend doing something similar to the skin otherwise it just looks fabricated.
  14. Hmmm, for you, I'd recommend doing a single layer painting. I think that task would help you the greatest. Simply put, do the entire drawing on ONE layer. No making temporary layers for effects or anything like that. All on one layer. Additionally I'd recommend trying out some planer analysis when shading. The best way I've found to do this is to use a square brush on 90% - 100% opacity and no smaller than the tip of your pinkie finger at any given time. This forces your to draw the overall color rather than attempting to draw each color. Also increase the contrast on the drawing by like 20% 80% and no I don't mean the contrast setting. Try painting it in black and white first. Reasoning: It seems like you're focusing too much on what you THINK should be there rather than what is actually there or in this case what would actually be there. Cartoons are a bit tricky in this instance. You smooth every color which is leading to a very... glossy/smooth look add that to the low contrast and your shading just looks like 1 color. GL, yo!
  15. Umm, do you have a tablet? Or are you using a mouse?

You should, like, draw from life or from a reference. It'll help you with everything, I promise.
  17. So regular R34 is fine then?
  18. What is the skin? What size do you want? What is the channel about? If you want people to do stuff for you, you should definitely at least provide more information.
  19. Is that your natural hair color or did you have to color it for the cosplay?
  20. I have a very grumpy looking face when I'm not smiling or laughing or something. I've actually had to say this to someone who told me to put on a happy face.

    technology Google Glass?

Never buy the first addition of anything. I'll wait till its been tested by the public. I think this is what will be big next, but I also think it will be slow to adapt as it's rather unusual.
  22. @@super2379, You follow the tracks till you wind up in a nearby encloser. Large boulders form a line for several feet. They are spaced evenly. Clearly unnaturally placed. As you draw closer to whatever is on the other end of line of boulders, you suddenly begin to feel nauseous. You hear voices in your head. They are a mixture of low screams for help and luring calls to push forward. There is something unsettling about where you are. Something is not right. It's not directly obvious, but you can see it. In the corner of your eye you can see the trees and grass change shape, color and size. As soon as you attempt to focus on them, they revert to normal. It is almost evening and the Everfree is quite dangerous in the dark. What do you do? Your map has updated. @@Narf, As you approach the patch of grass in front of you find a black tower surrounded by a circle of gravel. It emits a green smoke into the air. Oddly enough, however, you cannot seem to focus on the structure. It squirms and shifts evading your ability to focus on it. It is as if it is standing between two dimensions. It is almost evening and you do not want to be caught out at night. Nothing good happens in the dark. What do you do? Your map has updated.
  23. Lol the lab said to use *any* sans serif font. So I used Comic Sans. *evil laugh*

  24. Quick, someone make a 777x79 banner for my web design class! I dont care whats on it, litterally. (No genitalia please)

  25. @@super2379, You grasp for something to fight with, but only find a stone. You grip it between your hooves and lunge at the Pixie. It sees you coming and darts out of the way. You land on the other side of the Pixie under the shade of a tree. As it's feet touch the light it lets out a hiss and moves back into the shadow. Irritated, black smoke begins to form around the Pixie. Once the smoke dissipates, you notice the Pixie has disappeared. You gain experience for causing the Pixie to flee. You place the rock back on the ground. You only now begin to feel the pain of your wounds as the adrenaline begins to wear off. What do you do? You have gained experience! (+5)
