  1. Their sexuality is never really brought up, and the creators probably intended for them to be straight so as not to arouse any controversy. Although there's been a lot of advancements in how LGBTQ+ people are treated over the last decade, it's still a sensitive issue, sadly. But as far as head canons go, I've always figured: Twilight is asexual (but heteromantic) Apple Jack is straight Pinkie Pie is bisexual/pansexual Rarity is straight Rainbow Dash is a lesbian Fluttershy is bisexual (female preference)
  2. Don't forget King Sombra. I think he just flat-out died at the The Crystal Empire. I'm not really against it killing off the Storm King. Tempest already fulfilled the role of a redeemable villain. It would have been too schmaltzy and unbelievable to redeem all of the bad guys. I don't think it's inappropriate for a villain to die in a children's movies since it happens all the time and I think most kids are pretty accustomed to it. They'll have to be if they've ever watched a Disney film. I do like how the show takes an optimistic perspective towards villains and offers almost everybody a second chance. But it won't work for everybody because, as much as I hate to say it, some people just won't change. I'm glad there that there are exception were a character doesn't change. It makes each redemption much more meaningful.
  3. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the My Little Pony Movie has been in production for years. I think they first formally announced back in 2014-2015? I don't think they would have managed to successfully pitch a movie within the first few seasons. Or it would have been hard to since the show was still somewhat new. The first SpongeBob movie didn't begin until after the production of season 3 in 2002. Yeah, it would have been better seeing as it would a debuted during the fandom's peak around 2012-2013. It might have improved the film's performance financially. I'd have much preferred an actual movie over Equestria Girls, which I thought was quite tepid at best. I thought it was a wasted effort because I didn't like season 3 all that much and EQG probably detracted from its quality; it wasn't really worth the trade-off in my opinion. Season 3 actually put me off the show for a few years. But I am glad that a film was made at all. And that it's a good movie given that most of the fan responses seem to be fairly positive.
  4. I didn't imagine them playing a major role in the film. Maybe just appearing in the epilogue as foals or babies. Just like the ending of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows were Harry, Ron and Hermione are now parents and are shown taking their kids to Hogwarts for the first time. I don't think it would be a bad way of setting up the next series.
  5. That could be quite interesting. And it's a good way of removing Mutt considering Shia Labeouf is probably never coming back. I'm also interested to see what they could do with the rest of the Cold War period.
  6. I expected the movie to get something within 60-70% like the original SpongeBob movie. I'm a little disappointed that it fell short of that. While the critics aren't all wrong, I think some went in with a bad mindset, almost as if they just expected to hate it. I saw a lot of critics overeager to describe it as an "extended episode" or "saccharine." Which just seems lazy way to describe its flaws, you know? The film should ideally been reviewed on its own merits while ignoring the fact that it's based on a children's toy franchise. The IGN review alone speaks volumes about the mindset of some of these critics. And I hated all of the countless comparisons to The Emoji Movie. Which just seems silly given what a poorly written, cynical cash-grab The Emoji Movie is. Weirdly, I've seen mostly positive feedback from fans and audiences. Maybe it's one of those films were professional critics and audiences don't see eye to eye.
  7. Cherry Coke, Tango and Mountain Dew are my favourites.
  8. It's not the first time the reception of professional critics and audiences was polarized. Take Indiana Jones and the kingdom of the Crystal Skull. The film received great reviews from critics, but was panned by audiences. It's got a 70% on RT from critics and only a 51% audience score.
  9. Really? Weird, as it shows up for me. Maybe it's a regional thing. Have you pressed F5? Anyway, I'm glad it's getting mostly decent reviews outside of a few outliers.
  10. https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/my_little_pony_the_movie_2017/ Check again. There's at least one as of now. It's from St. Louis Post-Dispatch, and they gave it a 2.5/4 (it's registered as fresh). So it's got at least one fresh rating. Does that mean it's a 100% fresh right now?
  11. I know. Which is kind of why I expect he'll want to be done within Indiana Jones someday. Wouldn't be surprised if Indiana Jones dies in this film.
  12. I actually didn't think Shia LaBeouf was that bad in Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. But I didn't think he would want to return because of how pessimistic he felt about it. It's good that Harrison Ford is returning as Indiana. But chances are that his character might die in this film. I mean, Harrison Ford was finally granted his wish of having Han Solo die within a Star Wars film. I don't doubt he'll want to retire from Indiana Jones at some point.
  13. Plus I'd much rather see new stuff in a feature film. I'm glad they're using new characters instead of being constrained by older episodes. The older picture that was featured in the OP contained the Le Happy Merchant meme, which is basically an anti-semitic caricature of a Jew. I wasn't personally that offended by it since I'm not Jewish and I've seen much worse things out there. But it was probably best for the mods remove it for obvious reasons.
  14. I could see them making more films if this movie is successful enough. Personally, I think it would be a good idea to end the series with another movie. I'd like it to surround Equestria's deeper mythos and explain what the Alicorns are. Maybe there could be a rouge Alicorn who feels entitled to Equestria and robbed by Luna/Celestia? The film would have some pretty poignant themes such as the Mane Six maturing and growing apart one another. Twilight will also be concerned about outliving her friends since Alicorns live much longer than regular ponies. She would feel conflicted between her commitment to her duties as a princess and remaining with her friends. By the end of the film, the movie would jump decades ahead and show the Mane Six's children. These could be the main characters of the next generation of My Little Pony. I've already mentioned that the next generation should probably share the same universe as G4. But its cast is mostly comprised of new characters and it could maybe have a different art style. I actually like the idea of a grand villain being responsible for all of MLP's antagonists. It would be pretty awesome if all of previous antagonists teamed up to fight that villain.
  15. It might encourage some people who dropped-out to start watching it again. And it might convert some animation buffs. But I can't really imagine it drawing many people who aren't fans of the show or interested in cartoons all that much. But who knows?
  16. Ah, I guess /pol/ now thinks there's s a Jewish conspiracy to sabotage the My Little Pony Movie...for some reason. That might bode well for the movie. Fans will no doubt have high expectations, but parents and movie critics might come in not expecting much and be really impressed. Much like what happened with the show. It could be pretty big. But I'm not going to set myself up for disappointment by expecting it to be genre-defining or to be unanimously praised. I think a fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes alone would be good for the film. And I'll still watch it at some point even if it's panned by critics.
  17. Oops, I don't know how I put August instead of October. Guess I was tired. It actually comes out October 20 here in the UK. Which suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucks! Ah right. Interesting. Guess I'll have to wait closer to release then.
  18. When do you think we can expect to see critical reviews? The film was just premiered in New York, but I think it isn't going to release worldwide until after October 5. I'm hoping we'll see some reviews from critics soon. I'm dying to get an insight as to how critics will take to the film.
  19. The new adaption of Stephen King's It. It's not a bad film. It's a lot darker than the TV mini-series, and contains some pretty good scares. They made Pennywise a lot creepier and less corny than the old version. I'm not sure how it compares to the book because I never read the novel.
  20. Yeah, I'd love to see. Ah, that's a shame, and quite surprising. I wasn't expecting spoilers, but I'd have love to have read a review of it. (Oh yeah! It's good there's more UK bronies on here. xD)
  21. I'd go with Twilight, Pinkie Pie or Fluttershy. Ooh, maybe Starlight Glimmer!
