  1. Ranging from mild annoyance, to going into nurse/nurture mode making sure the pony was OK, to going on a vengeful warpath? There is an extremely wide range of what is defined as "hurt." Also, intent would surely play a role in my reaction. We could be talking about anything from Derpy crashing at the wrong place at the wrong time, to Fred Krueger on a rampage.
  2. Well, depending on the individual... sure some people use it as an insult. That doesn't make it correct. One of the things that the normies hate about Bronies, beyond them being fans of a kids show, is that there are men who have emotional or sexual feelings for pastel Ponies who are WOMEN. Say what you want about that, but it should be evidence enough that "gay" isn't the right descriptor. That fact is completely lost on the haters though. More often than not, I've seen "gay" wielded as some generalized slang insult that doesn't have anything with homosexuality. This trend seems to have decreased overtime, but I've seen "gay" thrown around to describe any and every kind of deviation from the status quo. Not long ago (and in some cases, still today), a male in school could get called gay for: Crushing on a female cartoon/Anime character Being a fan of anything sci-fi or fantasy Disinterest in sports / focusing on studies Disinterest in beating the snot out of other males to establish their place in the pecking order Disinterest in alcohol, cigarettes, or marijuana Not having a girlfriend (as if there was anyone in that cesspool they likely would have even considered dating) Being involved in theater Listening to 'boy bands' Wearing anything pink, purple, or red Eating a hotdog with ONLY ketchup on it (yes, this was actually somehow a thing in the tri-state area) What can you really say about it, besides... the majority of humans are complete idiots? You'll also notice that curiously, many things on that list of "smoking guns" is identical to the list of "transgressions against society" that would make one guilty of the crime of being a nerd. This is definitely not a coincidence.
  3. Well, if we're going to bring those kind of physics into it, Pegusi must have some kind of alien flying-saucer level of resistance to inertia. Plugging the Fluttershy-saving maneuver into a G-force equation... I'm being generous with the rate of acceleration because it sure as heck looks like she turns 90 degrees on a dime. This also assumes that she didn't continue to speed up beyond the speed of sound. So we'll assume 0.5 seconds for her to complete the turn. Since a turn is scientifically "acceleration" the same way starting up from being motionless, that means she's going from zero to Mach 1 in half a second. That's 150 G's! For comparison's sake, the most astronauts usually experience is around 4 G's. NASA tries to keep it around 2 - 3. Most people risk passing out at 5. With a flight suit, a fighter pilot might be able to handle 9. Anything above that is reasonably considered lethal.
  4. I never thought only she could do it. Only she was the only one that has. So far. I really expected to see another Pegasus execute a sonic boom before the show was over. Lightning Dust, maybe? Kinda disappointing it never happened. That could've made for a pretty interesting Dash episode; having that thing that was strictly her own personal domain for so long, and then suddenly having to share it.
  5. Why would anyone think it was something other than Mach 1? Even the lore surrounding the rainboom before Dash pulls it off, shares a lot of common threads with the sound barrier we deal with on Earth. Many believed the sound barrier was unbreakable until Chuck Yeager did it.
  6. What about collateral damage? Surely she hasn't managed a 2000 year reign fraught with at least a couple major conflicts, without some deaths involved. Sure those who are captured stand trial for war crimes and such, but wars are simply messy affairs and there's no way of avoiding that. Being a ruler and commander as old as she is, seeing so much death even as just a natural part of life, she surely has a less emotional perspective than us mere mortals. This is someone who didn't even tear up after seeing her sister again for so long. In spit of all the grief and regret, she still managed to put duty first and keep her feelings in the background. As far as the Necrons are concerned though, no big concern there. They were never alive to begin with. Give them no more concern than one would the reanimated corpses who serve a Necromancer. That victory alone might be enough to start a major political shift in the universe: accomplishing something that the God Emperor of Man had been unable to do. When people discover their all-powerful deity actually isn't all-powerful, it usually doesn't end well for the deity.
  7. Youtube link is dead. Anybody know what song it was?
  8. I feel the same way about the "Stormtrooper" idea though. Unless you're somehow talking about something radically different, I've grown quite tired of the Star Wars trope where we get introduced to a Stormie, only to have them defect to the rebellion after a Deus Ex Machina of a "revelation" happens in the first five minutes; or they end up at the wrong end of the barrel because of some misunderstanding and get forced into going rogue. It's annoying enough that we can never get an "Imperial perspective" Star Wars tale, but MLP definitely isn't the place for it; nor is a story about a defector. Equestria in this time period would have to be pretty bluntly (to an annoying degree) dystopian to get that to work, and that doesn't feel at all like a story aimed at children. On the other hand, if "Sheriff" was chosen for more technical or political reasons beyond, "Yay, wild west gunslinger, sheriffs are cool," then we probably have less to worry about. Sheriffs get a lot more freedom to follow their own moral compass than cops do, even to the point of choosing to NOT enforce laws that have been passed down from on high. That has some great potential.
  9. She went far enough to banish her sister and lock Discord away in stone. Also, leading the Crystal War, which was probably bloody as all heck. I'm sure she'd avoid casualties where possible, but that still leaves her a lot of wiggle room to affect real change.
  10. No idea if she could manage something as insane as taking down the God Emperor of Man. But... we can't even manage to decisively kill Elvis; and even if Celestia succeeded, I doubt 95% of the Imperium would believe it really happened, leaving the door open to a bunch of clever copycats trying to assume control. In a fight? Celestia's might is at least comparable to the strongest weapons in 40k. You can't do much better than the equivalent of a "Starkiller Base." Obliterating stars, or entire star systems is the pinnacle of military ordinance. Celestia's main threat is going to be the Necrons. They have access to K'tan shards which are pretty much "Death Stars" in a can. Interestingly though, the most insane tool they have at their disposal, is the ability to move stars like pieces on a chess board via... I guess, quantum entanglement? I don't know if there's been any detail on what the power needs (if any) are to actually do this, so it may be questionable whether or not Celestia's ability to move space bodies is comparable. Her best option, if she's getting into a fight, is to make a run for the Necron homeworld and slam their mother star into it. BUT... what happens if that replica of the galaxy is destroyed? It might just release the real galaxy from its hold, like a curse being lifted. Or would the destruction of that device, destroy the galaxy as well? Assuming she accomplishes this though, she now controls the "nuclear arsenal" and all other weapons are feeble by comparison. The really big "if" in all of this, is, are Alicorns capable of flight in space? Luna survived on the moon without air or food, so we at least know life-support isn't an issue. But wings don't produce propulsion in a vacuum; not without some kind of magic enhancement anyhow. And we know Luna didn't leave the moon before her sentence was up, but we also don't know the nature of her imprisonment. She could have been held in some kind of containment field, or kept in a quasi-state of hibernation, meaning flight wouldn't be an option anyway.
  11. Secret code? https://www.redbubble.com/i/t-shirt/MLP-Mane-7-Abstract-by-ShinyDash/30234637.FB110
  12. When it comes to law enforcement, in locales that do that sort of thing, no position is higher than Sheriff. The closest approximation is Police Chief or Captain of the Guard. The major difference is that Sheriffs are elected, and usually serve a county or province rather than a specific city.
  13. It seemed like she was meant to be the more stereotypical Princess. It's not automatically bad. There's enough diversity there, but you've got to expect at least one. Even the wedding was a bit of a reverse-fairytale though, since it was the guy marrying into royalty. However: Princess of Love, married, children, crystal-picket fence. It's sad that she never really got her own episode. I really don't even count Canterlot Wedding, since that was mostly about Twilight and Chrysalis. There was a lot more room to expand on her but it just never happened. And then once Flurryheart became the focus, that was it. I would've hoped for at least one good moment for her by the finale, and the setup there was perfect. Sombra threatening her baby. We were robbed of a chance to see an angry Mamabear Alicorn go medieval on his arse.
  14. First thing it made me think of was "Care Bears Movie 2: A New Generation." A retcon of CANON so blatant that even a 5-year-old would have noticed.
  15. I guess, better than "My Little Pony: Tales about Small Ponies that are Mine"
  16. It is? I'm seeing an Online one in July. IRL one in December.
  17. That sounds crazy complex for the target age bracket. I mean, yeah it 'could' be cool, but dang, that's sci-fi dystopian levels of dark. I don't even think a live-action TV crime drama has dared touch that one; at least not for more than one episode. Even without that though, did this just take the universe another level into the muck than the implications of the setting already did? We already know that the races hate each other now. Is the crime rate up enough now that the streets are being patrolled?
  18. Weird they call it "Fluffy Pony," as if that was the main point. There are plenty of fans who prefer the Ponies to have more "floof" than what G4 provided. I can't determine if the whole point of this was to create a place where people could have self-indulgent torture fantasies, or if that's sort of a biproduct of the original intent. Fallout Equestria is plenty violent, and bloody, but also has a very deep, emotional, and thought-provoking story. The general premise of this "Fluffy Pony" universe seems deeply rooted in classic sci-fi of a similar nature; such as the works of Isaac Asimov and Michael Crichton. It calls to mind images from "The Second Renaissance" from the Animatrix collection. Remember the "Flesh-Faire" scene in A.I.? Also... what about Sweetiebot? Her story runs pretty close to the themes presented here, which seem to be getting regarded here as an abomination; yet she's just as much of a staple of the core MLP fandom as Flufflepuff or Buttonmash. Despite being non-CANON, everyone cares for her, and there's an actual robotic companion in development inspired by the concept (presumably without missile launchers).
  19. Oh comeon, it's Fluttershy, not Joe Exotic. Did you forget the predators who hang out with Fluttershy are pretty chill with the herbivores? "No eating other critters" is like a house rule. Aside from that one slip-up with the snake, things are safe. And why of all animals would you be scared of Harry? He makes a big noise, but he's about as aggressive as a teddybear.
  20. I went to see "Moderna Part 1" last week. It wasn't nearly as terrifying as a lot of people were claiming a few months ago. Same here. I might have gotten something else, but I get seasonal allergies, so anything else was benign enough that it simply got masked. I have to wonder if the pain is even a side-effect. Or would having a needle shoved into a muscle accomplish that perfectly fine on its own?
  21. 05/04/2018 - It didn't really hit me how sucked into the show I was getting until I had this vivid dream that started really normal; I was taking photos of the night sky. And then Luna appeared in the clouds right by the full moon. Woke up from it feeling really emotional. I know the specific date because I still have the text history from when I told my best friend about it.
  22. I'd miss it, but I could deal. I'd probably be eating at the Tasty Treat a lot of the time though. I'm not a vegan, but I've had vegan-friendly cuisine a number of times (Indian is my fav) and the food is absolutely amazing. Too busy enjoying it to notice there's no animal product.
