  1. It is? I'm seeing an Online one in July. IRL one in December.
  2. That sounds crazy complex for the target age bracket. I mean, yeah it 'could' be cool, but dang, that's sci-fi dystopian levels of dark. I don't even think a live-action TV crime drama has dared touch that one; at least not for more than one episode. Even without that though, did this just take the universe another level into the muck than the implications of the setting already did? We already know that the races hate each other now. Is the crime rate up enough now that the streets are being patrolled?
  3. Weird they call it "Fluffy Pony," as if that was the main point. There are plenty of fans who prefer the Ponies to have more "floof" than what G4 provided. I can't determine if the whole point of this was to create a place where people could have self-indulgent torture fantasies, or if that's sort of a biproduct of the original intent. Fallout Equestria is plenty violent, and bloody, but also has a very deep, emotional, and thought-provoking story. The general premise of this "Fluffy Pony" universe seems deeply rooted in classic sci-fi of a similar nature; such as the works of Isaac Asimov and Michael Crichton. It calls to mind images from "The Second Renaissance" from the Animatrix collection. Remember the "Flesh-Faire" scene in A.I.? Also... what about Sweetiebot? Her story runs pretty close to the themes presented here, which seem to be getting regarded here as an abomination; yet she's just as much of a staple of the core MLP fandom as Flufflepuff or Buttonmash. Despite being non-CANON, everyone cares for her, and there's an actual robotic companion in development inspired by the concept (presumably without missile launchers).
  4. Oh comeon, it's Fluttershy, not Joe Exotic. Did you forget the predators who hang out with Fluttershy are pretty chill with the herbivores? "No eating other critters" is like a house rule. Aside from that one slip-up with the snake, things are safe. And why of all animals would you be scared of Harry? He makes a big noise, but he's about as aggressive as a teddybear.
  5. I went to see "Moderna Part 1" last week. It wasn't nearly as terrifying as a lot of people were claiming a few months ago. Same here. I might have gotten something else, but I get seasonal allergies, so anything else was benign enough that it simply got masked. I have to wonder if the pain is even a side-effect. Or would having a needle shoved into a muscle accomplish that perfectly fine on its own?
  6. 05/04/2018 - It didn't really hit me how sucked into the show I was getting until I had this vivid dream that started really normal; I was taking photos of the night sky. And then Luna appeared in the clouds right by the full moon. Woke up from it feeling really emotional. I know the specific date because I still have the text history from when I told my best friend about it.
  7. I'd miss it, but I could deal. I'd probably be eating at the Tasty Treat a lot of the time though. I'm not a vegan, but I've had vegan-friendly cuisine a number of times (Indian is my fav) and the food is absolutely amazing. Too busy enjoying it to notice there's no animal product.
  8. I really must have missed something. How was Star Wars ever NOT political? It was exactly that in the Hearthswarming story. Which begs the question, why not just base the show in that era if you want to tell such a tale, instead of shoehorning the same thing all over again far off in the future and conveniently pretending that Wendigos are a non-factor?
  9. Is this really that much of a thing? I know a lot of dogs love it, but beyond that? I'm pretty much indifferent to it myself. Just feels weird to me. I'm not Buddha. And out of the people I've dated, I only know of one who actually enjoyed having their belly rubbed. As for people, or ponies, enjoying being 'petted', well.. uhh... *cough*
  10. I'm really racking my brain trying to figure out a way to do this "well." What I'm getting so far, reeks of an "Alien 3" kind of pseudo retcon. We see our protagonists go through Hell to win the day, only to have that completely undone in the opening credits of the sequel. The last two-parter, the climax, was literally about this; and then we're expected to believe that it all just fell apart afterward? On TWILIGHT's watch? That's a very VERY hard sell, and anything they do feels like it's going to be some ridiculous amount of deus ex machina for the "villains," bad guy, or just... the apparent force of nature that is "division."
  11. Aye, Pony of Shadows. I got the strongest Venom vibes from him. Even the behavior of the 'suit' seemed to sometimes move like Venom, and the way Stygian talks about it implies a separate entity that is feeding on him while also giving him power. Nightmare Moon is a lot more open to speculation. Luna has never hinted at the existence of a creature that exists beyond herself having anything to do with it. Also becoming NMM transformation needing a solar eclipse, plus the way the shapeshifting is depicted, has very strong Wolfman vibes. At worst, werewolves are a type of demonic/spiritual possession, but that involves the entity completely taking over. More contemporary werewolf lore usually has them in partial control even in beast form, and it's less of a curse and more like a genetic trait. I for one, early on, always thought Luna still possessed the ability to become Nightmare Moon if she wanted to; like was a "Super Sayian" form that she just happened to be using for evil purposes. Also, her use of the Tantabus like some kind of shock collar seems to lean towards the idea that the threat of Nightmare Moon is still there. Well now we're getting into some pretty deep mojo. Maybe just because they're nonphysical, I can't look at "possession" by a spirit as being the same thing as a parasiite, even if the end result for the host is very similar. I don't think we ever see evidence that the book is sentient either. Similar questions could be asked about the Alicorn Amulet which tainted the mindset of the wielder. Do "curses" require the existence of a demonic spirit to possess the object in question?
  12. I missed out on seeing the other film in theaters so this is disappointing. Not unexpected though. Also, good job on Netflix for jumping on it.
  13. Seems like a lack of development. Unfortunately "cloudwalk" made the Pegasus native lands somewhat inaccessible, except for other ponies needing augmentations of one kind or another. And even then it was dangerous because accidents can easily happen. It's too bad Cloudsdale wasn't more like the Wonderbolts Academy, being on a plateau at cloud altitudes. That would've made it far easier for more earthbound ponies to interact with them on their own turf. This problem made visits to Pegasus territory a rare treat rather than a common thing. This meant most of our time spent with Pegusi happened on the ground, which isn't their element. Pegusi are at their best in the sky, which is where they do the work that their bodies are built for. It's amazing that we don't even get a single episode about "weathercraft" even though we have probably dozens of episodes about farm life. The Pegusi really got short-changed in that regard while the talents of the other ponies get showcased all the time. Fluttershy is an Earth Pony disguised as a Pegasus, and Rainbow Dash doesn't really do much to give us Pegusus experience either. Fast-flying is mostly a leisure sport that has little to do with any practical application. And while the Wonderbolts are exceptional demonstrations of that athletic prowess, and Pegusi have their place in the military, this isn't the norm. Their primary role is controlling the climate, which is pretty darned important to the stability of the ecosystem. Even when it comes to battles (the low-hanging fruit), everyone gets wowed by Unicorn magic over and over and Earth Ponies can score field goals using their foes as the pigskin, but the show never even seems to bother acknowledging what Pegusi are capable of. And what we DO see of that, is usually in the form of blunders, such as the tornado at the academy, or Derpy shocking herself with a thundercloud. Weather mastery is nothing to scoff at, and Tirek should've been getting bombarded by a siege of lightning bolt artillery instead of all the flying horses just trying to body check him.
  14. The only problem I've seen it cause in the past is the creation of spam threads. Threads that literally only exist for people to boost their post count. On some forums these ended up consuming 50% of all post data or more. Other times, users responded to every thread they could almost like a social network bot with nothing real to contribute. Just "Cool story" or "nice." Probably why the character limit exists but that's a minor hindrance to folks who do that. So yeah, some DO indeed use it like a social status indicator, and I guess I could've easily imagined that happening years ago. I've seen no indication of it now though. Yeah, it is. And I hope that doesn't mean those icons are next on the chopping block, since they're at least a relative indicator of post activity.
  15. Eh, there's not much the media can do that one side or the other can't slam for being "propaganda" for one reason or another. Some people panicking about a "gay agenda" saw Elsa hiding in her room and thought, "Oh there it is, she's going to come out of the closet." Entertainment would be pretty damned boring if it released anything that was foolproof against such accusations, because nothing would ever happen in the story. Fortunately we have things like Wonder Woman and Fury Road to tell you where you can shove your strawman argument that had nothing to do with what I said. But alas, there's more to "fail" vs. "not fail" than whether or not it contains "thing you don't like." 'Ghostbusters 2016' didn't bomb because it was "woke." It wasn't because it had four women in the lead roles. It wasn't because of some coordinated attack by racists. It was because Paul Feig is a hack who doesn't know how to write anything besides angst and toilet humor, didn't give a crap about the IP, and thought he could reel in the audience with "girl power" alone, while clearly having no clue of how to properly present it on the screen. "Aliens" for my money has the best Feminist character ever, and it's a film that almost everyone indiscriminately loves. I bet if it had been made today though, it would get accused of being "woke garbage" just the same.
  16. Good question. But hey, you can't accuse something of being an "agenda" without having an agenda. And I fail to see how anything a TV show does is "shoving it down your throats." Do they tie you to a chair and keep your eyelids peeled open, while giving you preferential stimulation? I think not. "Pandering" used to be known as "marketing research," until folks like you started having a problem with it.
  17. You mean like shoving your anti-woke agenda down our throats? Fascinating how "basic human decency" is now considered political.
  18. It's been a staple of Anime for long enough, no? Take characters who are sickeningly cute in both appearance and personality, and drop them into bloody warzones where they hack everything to pieces? Clearly this type of thing is marketable. Also, Fallout:Equestria, which is now a completely legal parody I.P. registered with the U.S. Copyright office.
  19. I do have a concern about the apparent "activism" but not for the reasons some might think. Does Equestria have 'dark corners' of its political landscape that we don't know about? There's little hint of censorship. Most of the populous is content. There's almost no hint of poverty. And we left the show with Equestria being a shimmering beacon of equality and inclusiveness. Where do we go from here? Has the kingdom under Twilight's reign fallen from grace? Will some really hard-to-swallow problems be forcefully-inserted into the society; things that would never EVER have happened at any time in G4? The only other possible problem I can think of would be Democracy vs. Monarchy. And that opens up a whole can of worms that seems unneeded since to become a Princess in the first place you more or less have to prove you're not corrupt and will serve the good of the people, in a way that conventional Earth nations WISH they could have.
  20. I was shocked when I watched it. Given the subject content and the target audience, it was downright terrifying. Especially hat ominous "Dark Rainbow" heartbeat. For a while, after everything else that had happened, I was almost expecting him to pull a beating heart out of the bag. Also a bit of headcanon about Midnight Castle. Here's how the Storm King's realm is depicted in the official map of Equestria. Here's midnight castle, which as we also know from the episode, sits atop a rocky island in violent seas. Methinks Ol' Stormy moved into this place sometime after Tirek was defeated.
  21. Lulz, AJ's buck would simply knock them over? The Walker is going to be setting some kind of Guinness long-distance record, as the survivors in NYC observe it hurtling through the air across the entire island.
