  1. No one cares. It's great. Though usually it's just the vintage toys that come up in conversation for me. Although, once I asked my friend if he would pick up a vintage MLP lot for me from Craigslist and he said he didn't want to go to a random brony's house. I casually reminded him that someone selling their childhood G1s was unlikely to be a brony.
  2. After seeing a discussion on a MLP collector forum, I am curious. Do you like MLP but not consider yourself a brony? Why not? Personally, I consider myself a casual brony because I watch the show and some youtube videos, and have some G4 merch. But, first and foremost I'm a vintage toy collector with a preference for vintage MLP toys. Many in the (vintage) collector community don't consider themselves a brony at all.
  3. First ever MLP I saw was the first ever MLP cartoon: Rescue at Midnight Castle, on VHS back in the 90s as a wee toddler. For FiM, I started st the beginning.
  4. Minty and Waterfire, but they're technically G4 toys already. Sunny Daze I think was mentioned in G4 but I'd love her to be a main character in G5. Kimono and Cotton Candy haven't had any sort of mention, to my knowledge.

    g3/core 7 Alicorn in G3?

As a kid playing with G3, I would have probably been mad because there were no alicorns in G1 but there's a chance I wouldn't have cared since I had a baby alicorn fakie as well. Either way, with how special they made the unicorns and pegasi in G3, it would have been a stretch to have more than maybe one alicorn.
  6. Were they significantly cheaper than market value? There are some good deals on ebay, especially in lots, but usually market value of gen 1s is determined by ebay sold listings.

    G1 fan club

I just commissioned this picture of Chief from the artist LDR!
  8. The G1 episode 'Somnambula', featuring Somnambula, was one of my favorite episodes, so I'm surprised I didn't know about her G4 appearance. I like ancient Egyptian mythology and aesthetic so I'm happy with the new her. I mostly liked the G1 episode because it featured the Big Brother ponies, my favorites set. They had to rescue the other ponies from Somnambula, an old witch who forced a magic bird to sing. The song made pony dreams a reality, in their hypnotized minds at least, but siphoned their youth to Somnambula. I'll have to see if the new her is anything like that.
  9. I was excited when I first saw that screenshot of her in EqG. As a G1 fan, I love any and all references to it in FiM or EqG, even if I'm not a fan of the latter.
  10. Those appear to be fakies, especially the baby. As far as I know, no past gens had colored hooves and the body looks like a thinner knockoff of a gen 1.
  11. Idk about g4 but in general, acne cream is a big no-no on ponies. It may fix the problem at first but the active ingredient will remain and can cause more damage even after its cleaned off of the surface.
  12. I have about 200 ponies at last count, not to mention some Tshirts, a few g1 and g3 DVDds, g1 ponywear sets (including one MOC), and random other merch. Almost half of my ponies are G1, the rest are almost evenly spread between G3 and G4, with a few G2 and G3.5 as well. I don't want to think about how much I've spent but at least I don't spend more than $25 per pony.
  13. Goodwill has a tendency to sell the G1s online because they're vintage. A decent sized locally owned thrift store or Savers would be a better bet, or yard sales or flea markets. Good luck!
  14. Seaponies are jerks who give assistance when it's important. I like to make fun of their intro. They intend to save them, but first sing about how they're gonna save them.
  15. The mane 6 can interact with lots of different characters (they already do) and make more toys of them. Easy peasy. Blindbags are pretty popular, they could easily make more character toys, even ones not seen in screen much if ever.
  16. G1: MLP n Friends was fun and still entertaining as an adult in small doses. I love the pony toys and the ponywear especially of this era, it has a nice amount of variety in poses, gimmicks, and colors. G1: MLP Tales has some bad morals (be fake to attract a boyfriend) but also some ok morals. It's my favorite pre-G4 series. G2: While these toys all had very similar poses and simpler symbols, I find them to be the cutest toys. The merchandise used a lot of, essentially, clip art of the same 4 ponies, at least in the US. It was simple but charming, and had some cool costumes and ponies. Also, someone said that they were bad because they're like action figures. Personally, I love joints on my toys because they can be posed for photos, even if it's just the head. G3: I loved the cartoons that came with my toys as a kid, but most of them haven't aged very well. I only find any enjoyment from the Princess Promenade anymore, nostalgia aside. The toys, however, had gorgeous colors and a decent variety of poses. G3.5: Some people collect the toys, which surprises me but I won't hate on them for it. The hair was bushy and soft on some of them, even if I don't find them visually appealing. The videos from that time looked boringly low budget with annoying voices, at least the newborn cuties animations.
  17. I was born in the middle of the hiatus between G1 and G2, in 1995. That would explain why I was deemed just barely old enough to receive a G2 pony when they came out when I was 2 (and I still have her). P.S. The wiki says that G1 ended in 1993.
  18. I had a Derpy brushable that I got for 50 cents at the flea market. I traded her for a fairly popular G1 pony of equal value.
  19. I bet he got it from a mysterious salesman, like oh so many enchanted items in shows like this.
  20. What is the gay stripe that supposedly some people give him?
  21. My friend's kid sighed tiredly when she got her umpteenth Twilight Sparkle in a playset recently. I've heard that Hasbro is primarily focused on first pony purchases. I suspect that they package Mane 6 with other characters because they want both types of toy buyers to buy the set: those who want the Mane 6, and those who want a new pony who isn't Mane 6. The Mane 6 are probably incredibly convenient ti manufacture.
  22. Aww that's cool! G1 is hard for most people to find in the wild these days. In the past 5 years, I've found them in the wild 3 times.
  23. It's just a bit of trivia that I think would be cool to know.
  24. What about retired toys and loose toys? And do people buy more Mane 6 or side ponies or others? I have a bunch of mane 6/main characters and I want to avoid selling on ebay.
  25. If you watched it on YouTube, it was probably copied from an old VHS, which would explore the sound quality. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find a better rip online that has the Little Piece of Rainbow song. My DVD cuts it out and has credits all over the screen for the Sea Pony song. Hope you enjoy your watching! My favorite episodes are the pilot (Midnight Castle), Somnambula, and the Golden Horseshoes.
