  1. So people buy or sell on here at all? I'm a transplant from a primarily pre-G4 trading community and noticed a lack of buying/selling, even for custom plushies and art like I see sold at Brony cons. So, where do YOU buy MLP merch online? (Besides ebay and amazon)

    Tirek Fan Club

I love this idea. I loved Tirek's G1 appearance as a kid and was super excited when he appeared in G4. There had never been a G1 figure made of him so there was hope. Though tbh I prefer G1 Tirek's appearance, as he looks more sinister, and he threatens to behead someone. Also, he commanded a legion of dragons. I loved dragons and ponies as a kid. Screenshot of G1 Tirek under spoiler. I'd love to see a remaster of Rescue at Midnight Castle. Look at those fingers, those spikes, the fur detail. He feels less cartoony. G4 Tirek is like the Teen Titans GO version in comparison, in regards to animation. You know what would be awesome? Tirek and Twilight's fight scene, reanimated in a more realistic style.

    G3 Fan Club

I loved my single G2 and trio of G1s so much as a kid, I was ready to collect G3 as soon as it started. After trying to get all of the ponies the first year, I went for EVERY white pony I saw. I had a rather impressive collection before I purged most of them and sold them to friends. I adore the colors in most G3 hair. I just (re)acquired Bowtie recently and I love her more than G1 Bowtie. The attached photo features about half my remaining white G3s. I'll have to take a proper group shot later.

    G1 fan club

The first time I saw Princess Sparkle on merchandise, I couldn't see her symbol and at first glance thought she was Sprinkles as a unicorn. I'm a big G1 fan, ever since I was a little kid. I have 60-80ish G1s. Chief is my favourite, with a lot of second favorites. I mainly collect white and boy ponies, ever since I was little and fell in love with Cherry Treats, one of my first 2 G1s.
  5. I see as much AJ as any other mane 6 toy, but it's her representation on merchandise that is lacking. For example, what merchandise includes AJ but leaves out another Mane 6? I have seen her left out on bouncy balls and plastic bowls, a friendship bracelet set I saw looked neat but only 1 or 2 of the 12 pony charms had AJ, and most of them had 2-3 characters on them. Twilight was on half of them, naturally.
  6. Age spots, regrind and faded pink hair can still happen to toys in box, though fading pink hair can be preserved by keeping it away from light. Also, fading pink hair is not only a G1 thing. Be careful with any light light pink hair. I'd also like to stress: don't use acne cream on ponies, especially G1. The chemicals can remain active inside the plastic and cause discoloration that gets worse over time. It may work on some toys, but not toys made of colored vinyl.
  7. As an adult, I like small ponies for collecting a lot, but as a kid, my toys usually had to be 'best friend sized'. G3 and G1 ponies had sufficient mass that I was happy just taking one or two with me in car rides and such, whereas smaller toys were insufficient size to feel like 'friends', if you get what I mean. They were also small enough that I could play with them and brush their hair and have other toys ride them. As a kid, the current size of G4 brushables probably would have been the smallest I'd play with. The hard plastic bling bags probably would have been accessories, like toys for my dolls. So, I hope, for the sake of kids, that they keep more adequately sized toys readily available at the current size or bigger (and more characters).
  8. Wow. 2 comments in and my ~150 piece collection is already beaten.
  9. My very first pony was G2 Skyskimmer when I was a toddler. She looks a lot like Fluttershy. The first one I remember getting on purpose is G1 Firefly when I was maybe 5 or 6.
  10. Here's my collection as of December! I've got a lot more now, and a whole bunch of Mane 6 toys I am tryingto get rid of. I don't have a lot of G4. I did have a Derpy brushable recently, which was cool.
  11. As a kid, I avoided duplicate ponies. Core 7 at the end of G3 was part of what killed it for me. As a pony collector who also enjoys the cartoons, I would still love to see brushables of more non-mane 6 ponies. There are so few non-show brushable ponies that the prices of them are surprisingly high. $40 for a little brushable pony from 2012? Crazy.
  12. The saddest MLP toy mishap for me was when my mom made me give away some of my ponies, including G3 Mail Order ponies that weren't available in stores. As for other toys, I had a plush dalmatian I brought to my friend's house. I dropped it in my sleep and my friend's dog ripped it to pieces. My mom couldn't find an exact replacement. When I was 7-9 I collected the 1983/1984 Care Bears/Cousins. I had 10 bears and 4 cousins. I got lice when I was 9 I got lice and since my Care Bears were all permanent fixtures on my bed, they immediately got washed... in hot water. They were all mangled and squished and the fur was singed. 2/3 of them were not salvageable. I was mortified. Those toys were already 20 years old when I was collecting them. Only my favorite, Grumpy Bear, got replaced. I've tried my best to keep the fond memories I had of receiving and playing with them.
  13. When I was maybe 5 years old, I rented the only MLP VHS I could find: Rescue at Midnight Castle, the first ever MLP cartoon. It features adventure, ponies, and dragons. I was in LOVE. My sister got a G3 pony with a VHS, and we liked that as well (though it's harder to rewatch as an adult). When we got a DVD player a few years later, my mom bought me every G1 and G3 DVD we could find. As an adult, I don't enjoy rewatching most of the G3 cartoons I loved as a child, but when I do enjoy it, it's mostly due to nostalgia. Meanwhile, finding more G1 (MLP n Friends, MLP Tales) that I haven't seen yet, and it's exciting to me. I collect the G1 toys so it's fun to see ones that I have in the screen. Especially Gusty because she sounds just like Bart Simpson.

  15. I love seeing the G1 love here! I've collected them since I was a little kid. I wondered my way over to this forum from collector commubity forums mainly to see how Bronies feel about G1. I've gotten roughly 20 more this year, but here was my collection photo as of Christmas last year, across all generations. I mainly collect white ponies and Big Brothers. I wish more G2 were more affordable.
  16. MLP Tales was the second G1 series, though some people call it G2 even though it aired during G1 and had toys of tbe main 7 produced during G1. Also, seconded. Rescue at Midnight Castle is definitely a must-see but I like Tales the best.
  17. My favorite pony is Chief, but Shining Armor has a similar color scheme. I would bring back Firefly, Waterfire, or Minty, but technically Firefly has been mentioned and Minty and Waterfire exists as a toys. The most unique character to bring back would be Megan because there haven't been human characters since G1. Somehow, that doesn't seem feasible. If Gusty were guaranteed to have the same voice actor as in G1 (same voice as Bart Simpson), she'd be an obvious choice, but that seems unlikely. Thus, if I could only bring back one character, it would be Mimic from G1. Not a huge favorite of mine, but she's a beloved G1 pony with a unique color scheme and is far too expensive for many fans at $100-$150 for a good condition toy.
  18. From the beginning, Applejack was my favourite because she was generally the most mature, and the pony I would most want to be friendly with, though I may be a wee bit biased become she was one of my favorites back in G1 when I was a kid, and a lot of my family has a Midwestern accent like hers. However, making her already very likable and mature didn't give her much room for growth as a character, especially when the writers would rather give life changing plot points (i.e. becoming an aunt, sibling getting married, joining the Wonderbolts) to the characters they already see as more marketable, mainly Twilight, RD, and Pinkie. When has AJ ever had a life changing event happen to herself or a relative that didn't affect the other 5? (Anything involving the elements of harmony, working at the school, etc.)
