    general Jobs

I work as a Cleaning Technician (fancy talk for janitor) at an insurance office building. It's a pretty relaxed job, I work at night part-time, so I have days free to do whatever.
  4. California. I won't say why. Though the Monterey area is very beautiful. Leave that.
  5. Not really. I don't think that much will change without it. Mobile providers only do what NN was going against because everyone having truly unlimited, equal data (without caps or prioritized speed) would hog down their towers, and everyone would complain about slow speeds. This happened when AT&T first introduced the iPhone: their network got so overloaded with iPhone users using so much data, it greatly affected the network quality, so this is why they do it. Generally, your wired ISPs (AT&T, Comcast, Verizon, Charter, etc) will have the capacity to handle way more traffic than mobile, so caps and prioritized speeds are generally not required. Sure, some do, but that's also to maintain network quality, but the caps are way more generous than mobile. Mobile providers may not need caps even when 5G becomes a thing. Most towers will have around 1-2Gbps capacity IIRC, so we might see an increase and less prioritization when that comes out.
  6. I really have no idea if I can stay active anymore.

  9. Unpopular opinion, but I think that not much will change without NN. I know there's been a few instances where companies were caught blocking things, but the FCC has either fined or ordered them to stop, all without NN. One ISP in North Carolina was ordered to pay $15,000 by the FCC for blocking Vonage, and when Comcast blocked the BitTorrent protocol, the FCC ordered them to stop as well. Plus, many experts, such as Marc Andreessen (the creator of Netscape), Mark Cuban (multi-millionaire and owner of the Dallas Mavericks, with Internet start-ups in his history), and Peter Thiel (creator of PayPal and an investor in Facebook) have all stated that NN would extremely limit investment in broadband networks, since if they cannot charge Netflix or some other company for bandwidth as NN says, the ISP cannot get a return on all that fiber they've been installing in cities (as many ISPs have been doing). As for the "paid lanes"? That seems like a far stretch, and with many ISPs converting their existing bandwidth to fiber optic, they should be able to handle that traffic. Plus, you know how cell providers are starting to not charge for data on streaming services (such as T-Mobile not charging for data on Spotify, and AT&T not charging your data on DirecTV NOW)? Not allowed on NN. People love this policy, and a lot of people would hate to see it go.
  10. What non-profits/charities do you donate to? It's always good to donate to those who need help, or those who provide something useful at the support of donations as a non-profit. Have donated to WFYI Public Radio (NPR) Operation Blessing Plan to donate to Wikimedia Foundation Samaritan's Purse
  11. Hello @Ari Hunter, welcome to the forums! I am Cloggedone, a five-year veteran of the site and a retired staff member. Be sure to read our Guidelines, and also ask questions in the Site Questions and Tech Support section under the Canterlot section (I've linked both). If you want somebody to chat with, since you're new, PM me or send me a status on my profile! Again, welcome!
  12. Depends on what you can take, but I always take some homeopathic stuff, since medication interactions prevent me from taking cold medicine. There's one I use, but I cannot remember the name of it. Look up some good ones and I'm sure you'll find something!
  13. Rainbow Dash, your IQ went up 20% with those glasses!

  14. ASMR, or Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response, is a term used for a tingle-like feeling that goes from the scalp and can move down the body, and is typically triggered by certain stimuli, usually audio stimuli (such as whispering, tapping, soft repetitive sounds, to name a few). ASMR is a rather new trend, but is starting to become more studied, and has a few studies out there that state it can help with anxiety, mood and sleep (but obviously should not be used in place of professional help). More info can be found here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autonomous_sensory_meridian_response So, I was wondering if anyone else watched these videos? I know some people find them weird due to the subjects they can get in to, but there are perfectly fine ones out there that don't do things that are odd. A good example I can give is my favorite ASMR channel, SensorAdi. A recent example of his work (and example of ASMR in general):
  15. I need one.... I never participate in editing my avatars, mainly because I'm terrible at GIMP/Photoshop.
  16. I'm really enjoying my new job so far.... and it's at night, so not a lot of commotion (since everyone's left for the day). :D

  17. Hmm.... I work an after-hours janitorial job at an office building, so I'd have to think about that, since I'm not dealing with customers directly. Really, what I would do is simple stuff like taking out garbage out of offices, wiping fingerprints off desks, vacuuming, mopping floors and the sort. That's all, really.
  18. You're a teacher, right? I'm thinking about minoring in teaching (majoring in computer science).

What type of teaching do you do?

  19. Good morning. Work at 5pm. I like my job so far (yesterday was my first day).
  20. Not really. I always took Discord as a guy who does things his way, kinda stubborn. Though if it did happen, it would be hard, but maybe possible.
  21. I'll be sure to give what I can once my paycheck comes in tomorrow. It's my first week on this job, and they took my uniforms out of my paycheck, so it won't be much.
  22. I don't know if this counts, but I had my protein shake I have every morning. I use chocolate protein shake mix, plain yogurt and a tiny scoop of taurine, using a Blender Bottle (a shake mixing bottle).
