mega thread Champion RD92's Rock Music Thread
AegisReflector replied to Champion RD92's topic in Media Discussion
Thanks! Rush is also my most favorite rock band, if not my favorite band out of all the genres. I've also been getting into Collective Soul lately, especially their earlier hits. -

AegisReflector replied to Champion RD92's topic in Media Discussion
I noticed a distinct lack of Rush in this thread, so I thought I'd do my duty to post at least one of their songs. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lu9Ycq64Gy4 Also, who can't go wrong with an Elton John classic? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=12cLXeS14kM -
Do you dislike your first name?
AegisReflector replied to Le Kvlt Dawn's topic in General Discussion
True story. My mom thought I was a girl after birth so she started to call me Chloe, even after the doctors said that I was clearly a male. Thank goodness my dad was there to stop her irrational decision. But yeah, "Austin" is pretty meh. Too common, too boring. But at least it ain't Sheldon. *gets flamed by someone on here named Sheldon* -
movies/tv 2012-13 NCAA Men's Basketball Season

Finals week for most colleges. Syracuse plays again this Saturday, so I'm excited. Need a SU game, I'm suffering from withdrawal here! Louisville is putting up a great fight too, although their match-up with Cincinnati will be an interesting one. Also, the Big East loses another team! This time Marquette. Oh dear, will this conference suffer even more? >.> -
His music sounds extremely garbled and very irritating for my ears to listen to. I generally hate any hardcore electronica/dubstep music that just uses too many club/house sounds and tones to make the composition.

What time period would you like to live in best?
AegisReflector replied to Lightning Bristle's topic in General Discussion
I'd go back to the 1990's. Yeah, going waaaayyyyyy back, don't you think? But it's because the way I see it, I was born a 90's kid. If I were to travel back in time, I would feel so out of place. True, I love some of the stuff from the 60's to early 70's, but I wouldn't feel right at home. For a casual visit, it'll probably be interesting to see for like a couple of hours, but then eventually, I would wanna go back to my roots. -
I have Acrophobia, the fear of heights. Don't know why I do, but I've had it since as long as I can remember. Not only that but I also suffer from Vertigo, so when I am in tall places and look down, my head gets all dizzy and I feel completely nauseous. >.> It's gotten better as of late. I usually go to a Syracuse Basketball game and sit in the nosebleed sections to overcome the fear, since there's little protection in the seating.

The Bleeding Effect: Ponies vs. Reality
AegisReflector replied to jackleapp81's topic in Sugarcube Corner
I really only use ponyspeak outside of the forums when I'm with other Bronies, because they know the language and can relate to it without being the least bit freaked out or annoyed. I sometimes do it with my non-Brony pals, like once when me and my friends were doing a team battle in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, my teammate and I won and out of excitement, I said "YEAAAAH! BROHOOF!" and he said, "YEEEAAAA- wait wat", but I just quickly said that it was from something irrelevant and moved on. My non-Brony friends know I'm a Brony but they don't react to it or criticize me for it (at least, not in front of me >.>) but I don't ponyspeak in front of them unless it slips. I personally don't find anything wrong with using ponyspeak in public but as long as you're not doing it at every waking moment. It's like wannabe gangsters who use slang and try to be like Lil' Wayne and curse all the time and act thuggish. Gets old and tiresome. My advice would be to just take it a step back and find an equal balance of when and when not to use it. -
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
AegisReflector replied to Shankveld's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, kind of like the "What A Cartoon!" show or when CN did their "Cartoon Cartoon" block they added like 2 new shows every month or so to let viewers get a glimpse at some other cartoons that used many sorts of animation styles. True, most of these didn't really take off, but hey, at least CN gave them a chance, you know? -
Do you think police officers play Grand Theft Auto?
AegisReflector replied to jackleapp81's topic in General Discussion
Haha, it would make for a pretty hilarious scenario. I bet some cops dive into the world of GTA but I doubt they use it for real world training. Sort of like how the US military sometimes trains through the use of games like Call of Duty/Modern Warfare in order to simulate enemy attacks and what strategies to use. In the end, it's not the real thing. In order to fully assert yourself to the job you choose, you need hands on experiences, not video games.- 15 replies

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
AegisReflector replied to Shankveld's topic in General Discussion
I'll be 28 years old at this time and I'll most likely either do one of two things: 1) Be almost done getting my Doctorate of Fine Arts degree. Yes, I'm aiming for a Ph.D in Animation simply because I have a passion for getting a job at the Walt Disney Company and getting some featured film action. With a Ph.D the admissions office will be putty in my hands. Everyone thinks I'm crazy for wanting this for a career as "lowly" as Animation/Graphic Arts, but hey, Stephen Colbert has a Ph.D in Fine Arts and he runs his own HILARIOUS political talk show. He did something right, that's for show. 2) Trying to start my own Animation company, or form a studio that encourages other independent animators to showcase their projects in the public light for recognition. Maybe form a website that showcases such talent and put them in the spotlight for hits and view counts. Who knows? The skies the limit. -
I have a massive sense of deja vu from my dreams. Like this one time I dreamed that I was going down this really fast water slide and that I bumped my head on the way down and when I finally came out from the bottom I had a huge bump on the head and I saw blood. Well, wouldn't you know it? I went to a local amusement park, went on the fastest water slide there, bumped my head on the dismount part (the speed was decelerated so it didn't knock me out or anything) and ended up with a huge bump on my head that actually was painless (just itchy lol). I have those kinds of dreams all the time and I have no idea what that all means. Am I a future Nostradamus? WHO KNOWS?

Many Dark Knight scenes that people already took from me, so I think I'll go ahead and give you my favorite scene from the kickass movie, There Will Be Blood.

Really, the only two critics I've ever took any advice from are the Angry Video Game Nerd (James Rolfe) and The Nostalgia Critic (Doug Walker). Both of them have their premiere acts, sure, but then they actually release videos that show them out of character, and actually take the time to go in depth on why they hate the movie/game they are reviewing so much. Also important to note is that THEY KNOW that it is their own opinion, and they actually encourage their viewers to form ideas on their own. Doug's "Disneycember" marathon, with me being a huge Disney fan, was not at all on par with my own views on each of the Disney Animated Canon, but that doesn't mean he's a bad critic. He's just reviewing them to get his opinions out there. It's freedom of speech, and best of all, he's not an asshole about it.

Oh man, I didn't need to think for this one. If there's a fictional crush I'll never forget: Rei and Asuka from Neon Genesis Evangelion, obviously! Rewatching some anime, however, I also have minor crushes for both Lust from Fullmetal Alchemist and Android 18 from Dragonball Z.

Do you think that R.D. is a filly-fooler?

I find that either the PS1 or SNES are the consoles that I play the most simply because those were the first two systems I have ever owned. My nostalgia goggles are a bit tight, yeah, but those systems had some pretty damn good games. This current generation really didn't interest me. I found that I played the PS3 a lot more than the Wii, and I hate the Xbox so I obviously didn't get the 360.

I think it's stupid. I know it's fan created content and the creators are trying to have fun with the show, but to me, it actually hurts the show's charm and personality. The show is meant to be light-hearted and cute, and when I look at these sorts of writings it just makes me utterly facepalm with me thinking "Why?". I usually enjoy dark humor but when someone writes a full-length grimdark then it just becomes annoying.

It's not the fact that I fear the concept of death. We all die off eventually. It's the idea of how exactly I'm going to die. If I'm going to die of old age or by some organ of mine just gives out, that's perfectly fine with me. Buuuut, if I die by immense pain or severing from a massive mutilation to my anatomy, that's something that makes me cringe. I don't want to die getting shot in the brain by some lunatic. I want to die naturally, not by some other force.

It's actually kind of funny that this video has been out for nearly over a year now and Bronies STILL bring it up. To be honest, the more you talk about this, the more publicity it gets and thus the hate never goes away. If you give it less attention then people will forget about it. Teens have a right to have an opinion, although I will say that I wanted to punch the Asian guy in the square jaw. He pissed me off with the implications of him thinking the brothers were calling him gay and that if you watch the show you're not a man. That's just not fair.

Your Opinion on High-IQ Groups and IQ
AegisReflector replied to Standard User's topic in General Discussion
I think the IQ test is a joke and nobody should be tested on intelligence just on one test. While someone may not exceed in areas like math or science, they can excel greatly in music, acting, sculpting, etc. They don't need a number to label them as a smart person. If you find a career that you purely love and are exceptionally good at, I consider that the basis of real intelligence. -
movies/tv 2012-13 NCAA Men's Basketball Season
AegisReflector replied to AegisReflector's topic in Media Discussion
Right there with you on hating Duke, bro. Indiana definitely won't advance far in the NCAA Tournament. I'd give them at least regional semifinals. Ohio State and Michigan will be a close match-up. I honestly hope that Michigan wins (just because I think the players are slightly more talented), but OS will definitely give them a run for their money. -
mega thread Everypony's Religion And Why?
AegisReflector replied to Ezynell's topic in General Discussion
I've seen this trend on many huge forums and I just think it's because of the age group. I think teenagers/young adults either: A) Have no idea what to believe/not believe in yet because they are really young, and maybe forced into various religion groups before making set decisions; or B )Since "Atheism" is a huge internet trend nowadays it just seems like the common majority for most polls. Trust me, I'm probably not done trying to find what I truly believe in, but ever since the death of my mom (which was about 7 years ago) I've pretty much settled into not believing in one set God and formed a nature-like philosophy.
