  1. Just wanted to give the heads up that Lyra and Pinkie are up for pre-order on Hot Topic.com: http://www.hottopic.com/hottopic/PopCulture/Cartoons/MyLittlePony/My+Little+Pony+Lyra+Heartstrings+Variant+Vinyl+Figure+Pre-Order-10031292.jsp http://www.hottopic.com/hottopic/PopCulture/Cartoons/MyLittlePony/My+Little+Pony+Pinkie+Pie+Variant+Vinyl+Figure+Pre-Order-10031295.jsp
  2. Indeed the show like any other piece of art has inspirations and influences from preceding works. They range from film references, to historical references to pop culture. There isn't one single base that the show pulls from. That's what adds to why the show is so great, but it is also because it is highly original all things considered.
  3. Yes and no. If I have to chose one for whatever reason, Pinkie is best pony. There are so many amazing ponies that it shouldn't have to be a choice though. It's like picking your favorite friend: yeah, you can do it, but why? I love Princess Luna, Fluttershy, Lyra, Octavia, DJ Pon-3, Derpy, Applejack, Sweetie Belle, Minuette (Colgate), Bon Bon, Lotus Blossom......
  4. Hey so I got some new intel: While poking around on the web for information regarding the immanent release of the vinyl Pinkie Pie and Lyra figures, I found this picture on a brony Facebook page: PROTOTYPES All of them are insta-buys for me. Even though Pinkie is my favorite, I can't say I am not equally excited about all of these! Love this line..soooo much. For all of you Spitfire fans (cough @@~Chaotic Discord~ cough cough), I bet this is a very welcome surprise.
  5. Nice! Pinkie does make a good Soviet for some reason. She is intelligent yet crazy at the same time. I wonder who she just took out. 8.5/10
  6. What is currently your favorite rock song? I say currently since our favorites can change with time and mood. Mine? Led Zeppelin - Kashmir http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WhVEbuGHOeQ
  7. I like how you are spreading this out even further, making Rarity a German officer. Pinkie would make for a good Soviet artillery pony, and maybe Fluttershy a Polish resistance fighter (it's obviously up to you, just excited). I am curious to see what you will depict Twilight as. Though your Rainbow Dash is frigg'n cool, got to say this is my favorite of yours in this series yet.
  8. Rainbow Dash/Loyalty does not make the best girlfriend, rather the Mane Six do. You: ??? The best girlfriend embodies all the elements. She is indeed loyal, but also kind, generous, honest, funny, and at times simply magical.
  9. Worst part of text messages: lack of "voice." It's amazing how the same thing can be said and read many different ways, with many connotations. I think before it turned into a full blown argument, one or both of you were reading the text as sarcastic or vice versa, and playing around turned into angry miscommunication. At this point, see her face to face when you can and figure out what happened. NOTHING replaces real human face to face interaction.
  10. Haha this topic reminded me of this scene http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ms7Ray4VPC0 The series is itching for a family picnic day episode, where all of the Mane Six's families gather for an event and exude back story. AJ's family will totally dominate though. I hope they talk!
  11. HAHAHA! Yeah there is still plenty of miscommunication going on in terms of what others think we are or want. It's their cash that is lost and WeLoveFine's that is gained so watevs. As for the pre-FIM pony lovers, no hate. At the same time though, don't be disillusioned that this site and the brony fandom at large is receptive to/loves ALL pony generations. It's like a strip club, where the vast majority of the people that go aren't going because of the good food.
  12. Pretty damn cool. In terms of historical authenticity (aside from Applejack ) it's about 90% ok. Helmet bands were indeed used by the US in WWII, however they were rarely used. Those that were were mostly used in the PTO, and in Italy semi-famously by commandos. It wasn't until the Vietnam War that they became standard. This leads to the playing card (which can be construed as a "death card"). There are no known images of American soldiers putting playing cards in their helmet bands until Vietnam. The closest thing to it in WWII was the airborne's use of the symbols painted on to designate regiments. So yeah, if you do a fine tuned redo ever, ditch the card, or reset to Vietnam with changing weapons/backdrop. 8/10
  13. Damn thorough. Unfortunately it may be all for naught. Yeah there is that crush business but do you really think Spike and Rarity are going to end up together? Got to hand it to you would be funny. You do have this somewhat supporting you though: Yeah they're both the same species but that little dork might as well have been a dragon. "HIT THE NOSE!"
  14. Season 4 is this fertile field that out beloved writers can sow seeds of abundant family background for the Mane Six. Would be cool if Scootaloo is Rainbow Dash's sister after all. WE SHALL SEE! However... first things first: they got to address Fluttershy's family.
  15. Equestria Girls was like a very good, strong drink. One is plenty, otherwise if you have more you will be puking all night long.
  16. It's amazing, Sweden I swear is like a hot women farm. Knock on wood I haven't seen an ugly Swedish woman yet. Is it the water? What is it?
  17. Logic in My Little Pony is like the Karma Kameleon, it comes and goes. It is after all a cartoon, so it goes with the territory. Case and Point: Scooby and Shaggy. Notice their "figure" at the very end. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g_BR1LGzIxE AJ loves to eat, but she is by no means a "big girl" or fatter than the others. She is a wonderfully un-average-average pony.
  18. @@Gigapony You really nailed this. The funny thing is that the negative hype really helped the reception of the movie, in that even if some parts were cliche and/or rushed it was not as bad as we anticipated. As for the awesome exorcism thesis, they E o' H did turn her from a DEMON into herself again. Now that it has been presented to us, it does kind of seem pretty obvious. But meh, giving the writers the benefit of the doubt I suppose.
  19. Yep, I agree in that we bronies are not necessarily quick to take things seriously. However, I think we know at least some celebrities. It's not like we live underground... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NT1tZmGvFfY
  20. Indeed. I agree with you, Sunset Shimmer's writing if you will has flaws most certainly, specifically as you mentioned the holding back of her full potential. I may like her because she is basically the Über Trixie (even though I am not really a fan of Trixie), in the sense that while Trixie is a total hack and a fake, Sunset actually had the knowledge and power akin to Twilight. It was Star Wars/G.I.JOE-ish in that it was the good apprentice and the bad apprentice duking it out. I like that kind of stuff I suppose. As for Sombra, only redeeming quality was "CRYYYYYYSTAAAALSSS!"
  21. You have good taste my man. Actually got to meet and chat with Hayley at Comic Con a few years back. She was just walking around at the Sideshow Collectibles booth. She is so small!! And she is very sweet and kind. It's awesome when someone so talented turns out to be a good person. Haha. I see what you did there. But yeah, won't knock your choice. In terms of MLP we have a pretty cast, my favs being Ashleigh Ball and of course...TARAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! In terms of women I am not all that into celebrities (since I don't know/have met the majority of them) but Emily Browning in Sucker Punch is the most beautiful woman I have EVER seen.
  22. Nope. Without a doubt King Sombra was the worst villain of the series. The Cockatrice had more character development and lines than him, my favorite being "BAH-KEH!" But really, Sombra was rushed and such a copy-paste villain. There are some real contenders for the best though, like if you count Discord (which most do). Sunset Shimmer is not in the top 3, but she really held her own with sadistic cunning and bad...ness. You don't have to enslave an empire to be evil.
  23. You got it, but sometimes it isn't clear cut like our world. For example: Chinatown Merchant Pony Traditional Chinese garb, but not "Asian." Asian Pony But in contemporary clothes. Don't forget dialects. What would the equivalent be of a Pony Germany, where Photo Finish is supposedly from.
  24. Pinkie is best pony, partially because she is the most underrated element: laughter. Laughter is thought by some to be something that can be done without. It is sometimes deemed frivolous and unnecessary to life. However, the truth is that it brings out the best in others, having them reach their full potential. I see Pinkie as somewhat of the medic of the six, in that if the other ponies feel insecure about a task or lose their purpose, Pinkie restores their spirits. True we see the other five do this for each other every now and then, yet Pinkie is this everlasting beacon of hope and optimism that can sometimes be hard to see directly since it is wrapped in a very random and colorful package.
  25. Wow. Everyone else, especially @Silverwisp the Bard, gave very good rebuttals to this strange thesis. I think this guy was watching Hearth's Warming Eve with a pen and paper! Earth ponies, though they can't fly or do magic, can be likened to "the race of man" in The Lord and the Rings. They are still very capable of handling themselves in situations.
