Is Rule 34 a Good Thing?

Lighting Star

Not necessarily. Video games can improve your hand-eye coordination, memory, etc. Movies can inspire you or change your perspective on something. As far as I know, you aren't going to receive any benefits such as those from viewing pornography. And it isn't really entertainment, it's fulfilling sexual desires. So I don't think that's a fair comparison.

That's not true, my right arm is much stronger now I'm sitting here playing Earthbound as we speak, and I usually have some SNES game going as I'm at my computer at all times, and I am absolutely no more intelligent/coordinated than I was before I started playing games :P I can state that as fact.

Anyway, I can make the argument that viewing R34 opens your mind up to new things - it allows you to explore yourself and your psyche in ways you couldn't have done before, and allows a way of introspect. Who's to say people haven't discovered, without going into detail, new forms of enjoyment through R34? Hell, I have.

Here is what I don't understand. WHY is it immoral? We've all get sexual bits. They create a pleasure response when used. So why is it immoral to use them?

Oftentimes people have religious reasons to believe various things are immoral.

Oh, and did you know? Masturbating at least five times a week can reduce your chances of developing prostate cancer by 1/3.

And it helps with stress release endorphins and other fell good hormones. And in women can help with menstrual cramps.

Well ... I can make a case using (again) modern psychology that there is not only a need ... but that there are real health benefits.

And there is a need for entertainment for entertainments sake.

There's a reason why most people haven't pillaged their neighbor's house out of boredom: Entertainment for entertainment's sake

Hell, this whole FORUM, plus most (if not ALL) of the internet is entertainment for entertainment's sake.

I want to know why the "true" bronies hate clopers?

Basically there's three versions of this:

1) It ruins the show because you're ruining innocent characters!!!11

2) They think it's wrong for some reason (many different reasons, I don't really care to devise a list. Go on Tumblr for that.)

3) They don't like the "brony" culture (they watch the show but hate bronies because they're "fat neck-beards who live in their parents basement) so they bash the cloppers because they're technically a part of the culture, which is weird because they're no different from normal bronies except for that one extra... "feature", if you will.

God, my fingers hurt.

And my fingers are more nimble and of course it probably helped my grip too, but I can attribute part of that to the hilarious irony that around that same time in my life I discovered my talent for music and learned to play the piano.

Sorry I used the wrong smiley ... that was supposed to be a statement.

Basically I was trying to say that both entertainment and porn are needs in society and culture ... and there are strong biological and evolutionary reasons for this.

Well it is one of the, if not THE major foundation for beliefs like masturbation being immoral. And whether you believe god said that or not, the desert people I refer to still chose to follow that teaching. So whether their god is real is irrelevant. It's a choice they made regardless of actual events.

In all fairness he says he doesn't "think", but it is rather foolish to come in and stir this up and then try to say 'it's just my opinion' as if that exempts him from criticism

Please, don't ever deign to state my intentions for me. Not ever. You don't know me, and you don't know what I'm trying to do.

I have no problem being criticized. It happens rather frequently to a person of faith such as myself. I'm used to it. What does bother me, though, is when people fling baseless accusations at me, such as assuming I'm trying to force my beliefs on others when all I'm doing is expressing my opinion in a public forum asking for opinions.

I ain't angry or anything, and I'm probably taking it more personally than I ought (I tend to do that), so forgive me if that's the case. But really, I'd appreciate it if you wouldn't act as though you know my intentions.

(Okay, now I'm really going to bed. Had to respond to that one 'cause it wasn't a direct response to one of my posts, so I'd likely have forgotten it by morning)

@@Dattebayo

I already opened one can of worms with this thread, I refuse to open THAT one as well

In all fairness to the opposition view to the majority here ... porn and religion have gone hand in hand ... like an old crooner once said ... "Love and Marriage" and all that jazz.

Would you please stop this? We are here to write our own opinion, Ok? Please be respectful

Who's "our"? Are you with the "porn is bad, fapping is bad, you should be ashamed of yourself" crowd?

Opinions=great.

Generalized world views on what is moral and just, and SHOULD be moral and just= Rush Limbaugh

In all fairness to the opposition view to the majority here ... porn and religion have gone hand in hand ... like an old crooner once said ... "Love and Marriage" and all that jazz.

I didn't state your intentions, stop trying to be confrontational (oops, i guess I just stated your intentions there though  :comeatus: )

I was actually saying that you WEREN'T trying to force your beliefs. So congratulations, you just attacked someone who stood up for you in that regard. And also, just because you state it as an opinion, does not mean you are exempt from criticism. If you cannot handle people disagreeing with you, then you should avoid posting your opinions in the first place. Stop trying to play a victim here.

So really, I would appreciate if you would think twice before you post.
