I've learned as of late that hype isn't a good thing for a game. Games that have a huge hype train and start abusing it typically don't deliver on expectations.

 

I will admit though... I was pretty hyped for Wright vs Layton. My favourite video game character with my favourite fandom? It felt like the world was about to blow up from that awesome combo! It wasn't the best game for either franchise, but it's not like I expected a perfect explanation for the plot. Layton games rarely ever do.

I was hyped for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, (Sadly, it was the last good COD game ), Super Smash Bros. 4, Pokémon X and Y, and now Pokémon: Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire... So far I haven't been disappointed with any hype :3

What universe were you living in, MW3 is by far one of the worsts COD's, second in sheer horror only to the steaming pile of dog crap known as Ghosts.

I believe it's been "officially" in development since mid-2013.

 

There's an employee classification at Valve under "Half Life 3" and "Half Life 3 somethingorover."

 

But, we probably won't see it soon :/

• Gran Turismo 7 - My friend on the inside has told me lots of very interesting info about it. The friends I have on PSN also has influenced some of the car list (myself included of course), so it's something for me.

Obduction by Cyan Worlds looks to be (in my opinion) one of the best games released in a long time. With concept art like this (and powered by the Unreal Engine 4), it's hard NOT to look forward to it:



Cyan Worlds started with Myst - a game that just dropped you on an island and forced YOU to find out what happened, why you were there, and solve some pretty intriguing puzzles along the way. Myst was the best selling PC game of all time until the Sims took over in 2002. It was definitely a thinking game, and a very difficult one at that. Difficulty aside, the landscapes were fantastic, and though they were fantasy realms, they had a very real element that kept things in check.

Over a decade later, Obduction looks to do the same thing: they leave you with only one idea. You have been kidnapped. Find out where, when, why, how, etc.

Bayonetta 2 made me buy a Wii U and a Pro/Classic controller in addition to the game. Altogether about $340.

 

It still exceeded my expectations. So f***ing good.

Binding of Isaac: Rebirth, been so hyped for that game, only one way to release. Too bad I don't have any money to spend on games right now

Pokemon Omega Ruby! I'm so excited for this game, and I wish the day would get here already! I've been dying to play one of my most favorite regions, and now they've FINALLY made a remake of it.

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth. I pre-ordered it on Steam, and I also went and bought a Vita just for the specific purpose of having a portable version. The original is already my favorite game of all time, and I have no doubt this one will be even better.

 

 Also hyped for Hotline Miami 2, Super Meat Boy Forever, and Mew-genics. Though those are all a bit further away.

Seriously, 3 months before the release, Skyrim was the only thing on my mind, EVERY DAY!

 

Now, thanks to the unofficial elder scrolls pages, I know every quest, god and thing there is to know about Skyrim... I have no life

I'm not particularly hyped right now, not like I'll be able to buy games anytime soon anyway. Fucking Venezuela makes buying games harder than 8-4 of Super Mario Bros the Lost Levels

Not really hyped for any games right now. Previously, though, I've been hyped for a lot of games, such as Skyrim (which was awesome), Modern Warfare 2 (again, awesome) and Pokemon Diamond.

 

If I were to choose a game right now, probably Pokemon Omega Ruby... Even though I don't have a 3ds

I'm not currently hyped for anything. I will buy Omega Ruby and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U when they are released, but my hype for both is virtually absent. The lack of character customization kind of killed my hype for OR/AS,  but at the same time I know I'll have fun playing through it. I just don't feel excited to play it at the moment.

 

SSB for Wii U I'm not sure I'll even play much. I think my interest in the SSB series has really dwindled. Hence why everyone else was so excited for SSB3DS and are all still playing it, but I just completely lost interest. SSBU is pretty much the same thing with HD graphics. Meh.

Nothing really wrong with generating hype as long as they don't hype based on bullshit/lies/broken promises/etc. I mean I was really hyped for Bayonetta 2 and, at least to me, it more than lived up to the hype

I hype tons of games and very rarely am I actually disappointed. I hyped all of the Halo games up big time except Halo 4 or Spartan Assault and was never disappointed. Yet I was disappointed with the 2010 Aliens Vs. Predator game.

 

Currently the top three games I am hyped for is Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, and Star Wars Battlefront (2015).

 

Playing Halo 2 online again via Xbox Live is going to be incredible.
