music Music genres you like that others dislike?

Well, I actually like a lot of weird music.

Of course I like electronic genres such as dubstep/trance/house etc.

But those have become quite popular in the past 4 years...

However, i do enjoy many other subgenres, as well as completely different genres altogether.

I'm a fan of classical music, ambient, drone, gabber, speedcore, hardcore, hard house, metal, experimental,

idm, glitch, hardstyle, even older school hip hop. I mean, I can go from listening to something modern, to a

Sigur Ros or Boards of Canada record in a heartbeat, and enjoy both equally as much. I can dig a deadmau5

record, but feel the same beauty from Handel or Strauss...

... I like metalcore... and I also like neo-classical, ambient, jazz and soul. Oh, I forgot to mention I listen to almost all subgenres of E.D.M. (except progressive house, house, brostep and most complextro, though I LOVE Savant and electro house)

I can't think what to put here, so have a swimsuit Spencer Sotello

I love most music, I dislike New Country music, stupid club rap, the ones that just loops and they say things like " Shake dat thang, shake dat thang " that really gets old for me.

Call me out if this genre is not hated, but I absolutely love jazz. It sounds classy and smooth. Plus I tend to love big band/Broadway/metropolitan music, with all three of them tend to have some connection or inspiration to jazz.

I wouldn't say people dislike it, but I've yet to meet anyone else who shares my interest in foreign language music (Languages spoken in Europe, not Japanese which is growing due to anime and stuff). I love less common languages like Finnish, Estonian, and Romanian.

It's understandable since most people wouldn't listen to a song they can't understand :P, although it's not too hard to look up the lyrics translation.

I don't think I've met anyone who listens to a lot New Age because why not .

Well to be honest, I don't even listen to a lot of music unless I'm doing homework or walking somewhere where I find the music fitting :derp:.

I'm not one to care for lyrics so what language a song is in matters little to me personally. In fact, many of the bands I listen to are from Finland, Sweden and Germany and their songs range from English to their native tongue.

But because I don't care about lyrics the fact that they're in other languages matters as little as when they are in English.

I listen to music for pretty much everything but lyrics. I even like vocals in general, I just don't care what they have to say. :P

Rap and electronic music are the first that spring to mind. While they're far from universally loathed, I've seen plenty of people accuse them of not being "real" music. Funny enough, the good rap music I've found has had some of the most impressive and meaningful lyrics out of anything I've listened to, along with a catchy beat and a great command of rhythm.

Though as a disclaimer, I've never found a genre I've disliked altogether.

Mostly rap. Nobody of my friend group likes it.

Rap.

Seems like a lot of people hate it with a passion.  :(

I’m going to 4th rap here:

I’m not a massive fan of hip-hop/rap music and I don't listen to it a lot, I’m much more into Disco/Funk/House/Soul and all that stuff, but I do like rap/Hip-Hop and since it’s the genre that seem to come up the most on the “post your unpopular opinions” thread I’m going to choose that genre.

As an ex-rap hater I remember seeing who the kind of people were who tended to hate on rap. I remember thinking they didn’t think outside the box and all liked the same music of which I didn’t/don’t like quite as much.

Wasn’t what entirely made me change my mind about the genre, but it was the first thing that made me question my dislike.

I like the more extreme and obscure side of metal

My style can go to Extreme Metal, to regular Thrash Metal and to some progressive and really technical structured Metal

And I know this type of music is getting bashed because of any little details attached to it

I dont now if its hated in america, but i like Eurodance and even some of my german friends find the music weird or horrible

Some of my favorites are: Bring me Edelweiss, Raumschiff Edelweiss, Planet Edelweiss, Sailormoon and Hugo feat. Judith - Show me the way.

But my favorite is the german theme song for the anime Dragon Ball : Das Geheimnis der Dragonballs.

Anypony into They Might Be Giants?

They're okay in my opinion.

All my life needed was a sense of someplace to go. I don't believe that one should devote his life to morbid self-attention. I believe that someone should become a person like other people.

I really liked "Birdhouse in Your Soul". Many other songs by them I heard look like they're intended for children. They're a good children's band in my opinion.
