technology Should Nintendo have made an adapter for GC?

I feel like they should've, what with gen 3 getting a remake as ORAS....I still have an ancient Game Cube with Pokemon Colosseum, that I want to trade pokemon from, onto my 3dS to ORAS. ): that would've been EPIC if Nintendo had done that, to further promote the new Omega Ruby, Alpha Sapphire, while we're being blasted back to the past. Orre was just so awesome, I can't even....

thoughts?

From a technical standpoint, I don't even think such a thing would have been possible. Plus, to add onto that concept, people would have griped over the inability to transfer their Pokemon from R/B/Y to the newer gens. I'm not entirely sure that the way stats were calculated back then would have transferred over without some major modifications to the level-up system (somebody correct me if I'm wrong). It would have been USEFUL, but alas, pretty sure that the GameCube is dead by now. For Smash Bros, sure, some people still prefer the GC controller over the Wiimote system, but that's the only reason why they released the GC adapter for the Wii U.

If it's enough of an issue, you COULD technically always just run your Pokemon that you want to transfer through PokeGen and create replicas that you could port through Black/White and then to the Bank. Not exactly LEGITIMATE, but it would do a similar job. :/

I know the feeling, though. Kind of makes me miss the G/S/C and original 3rd gen days.

Yes, because a lot of us are so use to the GameCube controller for Smash Bros. If they didn't make it we would have to get use to a new controller and that would take a little bit of time to do.

I have the two Star Fox games that I can't play as I ended having to disconnect my original Wii; and I never had the GameCube. I might have to consider a purchase for one...

I like the Wii U, but the lack of GC compatibility kinda killed me, BUT I won't question Nintendo as I'm sure there was a good reason for it. In any case, I'd hope some old GC games would be available for e-shop purchase.

Personally I would love to see Nintendo make GC games downloadable for the Wii U eShop('specially for the hard to find stuff like Skies of Arcadia and Eternal Darkness) or some sort of firmware update that allows the Wii U read GC games

I would've liked to see them try, at least. I mean, it's clear they haven't forgotten the Game Cube (as they've incorporated backwards compatibility with GC through the Wii U, and have Game Cube Controller's C-stick on their "New 3DS") and many of the Game Cube library of games are still being made for various other consoles. Soooo....yeahhhhhh....

Pokegen is shut down, I believe, because Nintendo stopped supporting the older gens, like Black/ white

And still, it wouldn't be the same. ):

I just wish Game Cube could've gotten a well-deserved dusting off and trading from Colosseum to newer games could've been made possible, since they're revisiting Gen 3. That just would've hit hard in the nostalgia gut. -sniff- And I don't have a Wii to be compatible with my ancient Game Cube.

COLUSSEUM! D:< I'd pick up an eshop card to be able to download it, if they made that. And had it compatible with Pokebank, so I can transfer all my Pokes to ORAS

Orre was a friggin great region, and Wes was BAWS! We can't possibly forget the epicness of Orre!

Man, if anything, that in itself needs a remake. Unf! UNF!

Yes.

Indefinitely.

Nintendo.

That's like asking should the Xbox One have original Xbox backwards compatibility or PS2 Capabilities for PS4. Or should the 3DS have GameBoy Advanced adapter. A Nintendo 64 adapter for the Wii. MS-DOS Capabilities for Windows 8.1 (although it's possible already) but do you see my point? Yes, they have nostalgic games, but not everyone has played those games, especially the newer generation. No, it shouldn't. GameCube days are over and done with, if you want to play Super Smash Bros. Melee, get a GameCube or a Wii, otherwise, I'll stick to my HD Smash Bros (Which is way much better in my opinion)

But what about all other pokemon games? Wouldn't it be easier just to make it so you could transfer pokemon from any pokemon game instead of just Pokemon X/Y? I would love to see this sort of thing happen more than what the OP is saying. I could save a lot of my older pokemon too without worrying about losing them during restarts.

Nope. It wouldn't make sense to connect Pokémon ORAS to a 10 year old game like Colosseum. That's like if you wanted HGSS to connect with Stadium 2. But you can transfer Pokémon from Gen 3 to Gen 4 to Gen 5 and then to Gen 6.

but I don't have a GBA to GC cable, or a DS (lite)? (the one with the backward compatible slot for GBA games)

as I said before, Nintendo had GC compatibility with the WiiU, so who are you to talk about what sense it makes, bringing back a 10 year old game, when you're not Nintendo staff, and they've brought it back for (semi) newer consoles, just recently?

Say what you want, but I still think trading between the Colosseum games and the 3rd gen remakes shou;d've been done. Or at least 3DS DLC to get to the Orre Region, or a demo of Colosseum, remade for 3DS, or something

I enjoyed the aspect of stealing (and purifying) Pokemon, I miss Orre, I miss Team Snagem, and I miss Wes

SOMETHING to tie in or related to that game for the g3 remake of ORAS (along with trading) should've been done

Well, I think a lot of fans will be disappointed if Nintendo made this GC controller adapter for the Wii U, along with brand new GC controllers, JUST for Smash Bros.. Smash Bros. is a great game, don't get me wrong, but c'mon, don't tell me you aren't wanting something like Super Mario Sunshine, Metroid Prime, Smash Bros. Melee, or Luigi's Mansion on the Virtual console.

The Gamecube was simply never designed to connect to 3DS in any way whatsoever, and never will be. If you really want to transfer your Pokémon to Gen 6 it is possible, I have even done it overtime, but yeah I do admit it's kind of convoluted if you haven't had/kept up with all the handhelds/games required... it's just the way it is though, amazing that it's possible at all if you ask me.

it was never designed to connect to 3DS because they didn't have 3DS back then

but it's more than possible to have newer games (again, wii U) to adapt to Game Cube

and yes, it's very convoluted if you haven't kept up with all the handhelds necessary to trade from GC up through the generations.

which is why I suggested what I did.

I dunno. Maybe they could've had a limited time DLC release of Pokemon Box feature the Pokemon Bank, for the ORAS release, to allow GC to 3DS XY/ ORAS trading.

so many solutions that could've been done as a little throwback bonus for the ORAS release

That's a lot of work for something that will be seldom used, not to mention how it'll increase the price, so, no

so, what, then? They should put MORE work into just revamping Colusseum and Orre region in it, and making it for the 3DS, to allow for trade between gen 6 games and gen 3 remakes?
