Which mythological creature from My Little Pony is your favorite?

I personally loved all of the mythological creatures that are placed into episodes of MLP. As I watched from season 1 to the end of season 4, I noticed a handful of them and it only makes sense to have other mythological creatures in a show with mythological ponies. Which one is your favorite? Here are some images in case you forgot what they look like:

My favourite is the griffins. To be honest, I didn't know what a griffin was until I watched MLP:FiM. xP Regardless, they have cute character designs, a history that should be explained more in the show as well as their relationship with ponies. From what I've heard griffins never got along with horses, and we've already seen one griffin that's rude.

I am also a fan of the Orthros, the Phoenix and the Chimera. :3

With the exception of the Timberwolves, all the nastier creatures in MLP have been specifically from Greek mythology. (Manticores are actually Persian, but were written of extensively by Greek scholars.) This was even extended to the sirens in Rainbow Rocks. This is not terribly surprising given that both Pegasi and unicorns also originate from ancient Greek sources, but I think they've done an interesting thing weaving so much Greek mytjology throughout the show.

Does the timberwolf count? :/

yep this is my pet alright :P I call him wolfie

I completely forgot about the timberwolves! Technically, yes. The timberwolves do count. They aren't part of greek mythology like the rest, but I could see how one would consider them as mythological. I was getting at greek mythology though. Lord Tirek would also count as a mythological creature because he is a centaur.

I loved how most monsters are Greek-based, so the "fictional" Ahuizotl is from a completely different mythology. Kind of screwed that up when he became real though.

Favorite though, huh? Probably the kelpie from the comics. Though I'll be surprised if no one says the Tatzlwurm.

Id have to say the Timberwolf is my for the made up branch but the griffin is my

top fav even in books and such for outside the show! Phoenix is a close 2ed based

on the design but how it has been used in fictions and other shows!

It's kind of a tie between Cerberus and the Chimera.

Cerberus for the sheer incredulousness of it's appearance.

Twilight: "I just feel like we should be looking for something bigger than loose folds and leaky pipes."

*cue Cerberus*

Me: "WHAT?!"  :o

It was just the fact that they dropped that mythological bomb with such casualness. Of all the various mythological creatures that could be cast as child friendly, Cerberus wasn't one of them. (Hell, Disney didn't make Cerberus a cute puppy in Hercules.) DHX didn't even sugarcoat what his actual job was!

The Chimera chiefly because I thought it's design was cool. Kind of for the same reason as Cerberus, but the effect wasn't quite as strong the second time. It was also lessened by it talking. The monsters are more effective when they are just that, monsters. Monsters come in two varieties in fiction and only one is child friendly.

A) Either faceless, unthinking embodiments of malevolence. (Wolves, zombies, robots)

B) Clearly thinking and disturbingly human characters that are nonetheless devoid of anything resembling human morality. (The Joker, Jack the Ripper, Alex from A Clockwork Orange)

That being said, I still think it was a cool foe to feature and I like how it's feline aspect was more in line with a sabertooth tiger than a lion. That was pretty creative. I also like how Applejack had to counter it's individual aspects in order to defeat it.

Which . . . was strangely also how Kratos fights Chimeras.

I usually love dragons, but the dragons in MLP are seriously underwhelming.

With that in mind, my favorite would have to be the griffins, and that's largely because we don't know much about their society. We know in the Journal of the Two Sisters that griffins indeed have their own kingdom separate from Equestria, so we know they have their own cultures, rules, etc. As it stands, I would love to see more of them in the show.

Doesn't unicorns count as a mythological creature? I vote unicorn because the way their horns are magical makes them cool.

All my life needed was a sense of someplace to go. I don't believe that one should devote his life to morbid self-attention. I believe that someone should become a person like other people.

Phoenix! I'd love to see more phoenix in the show.

Philomena is the only phoenix we actually know, just like Spike for dragons...

I like how they look like in MLP:FiM. :)

I'm a bit of a fairy nerd when it comes to mytholology, so I can't say much without probably being too over analytical, lol.

I love them all still, The timberwolves would be my favorite cos compared to the other animations and characters, they were pretty unique and well put together.

Other than that, I loved Ursa minor and major; they were so prettyyy.
