'Incarnations' of your OC?

Melted Dog

Recommended Posts

Well, it's sorta/not really incarnation, but I'll mention it anyway. I used to have an OC named Spearmint for my main OC, Blue Moon's spouse. The only thing is that Spearmint was extremely shallow and I hated the design I made her.

Here is a picture of her:

Anyway, I recently redid her, and changed her name to Autumn. I used a design I made a while ago, and I'm now satisfied with the end result. Her profile can be found in my signature, and I'll leave some pictures below:

Well, not so much in design as backstory.

Storm Lantern, in his first incarnation, would have gone on a grand adventure with five others to defeat an evil alicorn who controlled storm clouds and lived in a castle. In the process, he would learn that not only was he related to the villain, but that he was to be successor to an immortal guardian who had held the villain at bay for a thousand years.

 Yeah.

In his second incarnation, he was chosen by "the Inferno" to defend the multiverse from bad guys, with the help of alternate universe versions of his friends.

Now, in his third incarnation, he's chilling out in a lighthouse, wearing a scarf, and can turn into a fox. :squee:

I've gotta keep on moving.
I got troubles on my mind.

My OC started off a very ugly shade of green with a brown mane and still no real cutie mark. No such image of such exists (Thankfully). This version quickly died and it was not for another year I seriously considered creating an OC.

You could say the next version of him is when he actually started to have some resemblance to his current form. The next version was a light brown with grey hair and a very bland cutie mark.

Not my drawing.

This old design gave way to color changes, but the basic build remained the same.

Also, not my drawing.

A tan coat color, brown hair, green eyes.

There are several images of him with a few different cutie marks I've tried, but I've yet to be please with one, and thus he remains a blank flank.

My OC Storm Chaser was formerly a pegasus. But now, he is a Batpony.

And Dark Rose was formerly an Cloudchaser recolor and now, she has an own design (and a darker pink in her mane).

Fantasy Moon was originally a rip-off of Twilight in terms of everything but color scheme.  XD  But then I made the following changes:

  1. Changed the mane style, lightened the yellow that was already there, and made the stripe bolder and light blue
  2. Made the coat more of a light bluish-purple instead of reddish-purple
  3. Eyes went from a dark purple to light blue
  4. Altered the cutie mark and her special talent, from a star with dots for magic to a butterfly drawn by a white pencil for artistic storytelling
  5. Her default backstory was made to be much more lighthearted and kind than the dark, abusive one I initially wrote.
  6. Personality went from that of a brooding loner to a kindhearted mare with few words.

My OC didn't really have a lot of design changes, but I did go through a few different names for him.

First he was called Spring Cluster, then Spring Shine, then Spring Leaf, and lastly I change his name to what he is called today- Meadow Leaf.

When I first designed my OC, he was a large pegasus with a brown/red coat. However, I soon changed my OC to a unicorn with a rusty yellow coat.

When I first tried to make an OC, he looked like this.

post-31150-0-37400800-1456279599_thumb.png

Looking back on that, I've really got to wonder.  HOW THE BUCK DID I EVER THINK IT LOOKED OKAY???  I mean, there's a weird facial expression.  The eyes are an odd shape.  There's dumb extra things on the hooves.  And his glasses were crimson while I intended them to be brown like my own glasses.

Thankfully, It wasn't long before I realized my stupid mistake and went back to fix all of the problems mentioned above.  I also named him Serenade because, much like myself (and Sweetie Belle) his special talent is singing.  He'd always loved to sing and had music in his soul.

I kept it that way for quite a while, more than a year.  But over time, I grew less and less satisfied with it. Although blue and brown are almost complimentary, the color scheme was a little more plain than I would like.  In fact, the only reason I gave him a brown mane and tale was to match my own hair color.  Eventually though, I came to realize that I didn't just want my OC to look like how I really look but I wanted him to be a fantasy version of myself.  I had always been a little envious of my older brother's hazel eyes and I'd always wished I could have ginger hair (hence the color scheme for those) though I left his coat blue because it just looks good.  Finally, I changed his name to Soaring Symphony cause it roles off the tounge better but has a similar meaning.

Here's the end result.

Admittedly, the fact that these were all done in Pony Creator has been holding me back but I suck and drawing so buck it.

I originally had a more chubby Wind Chaser with traced boots that barely adhered to the pony model which had amber eyes.

I then adapted more to drawing the MLP stallion model, slimmed down his proportions, and reduced the size of the boots to make them more fitting. I also switched back and forth between GIMP and Inkscape. I also took the advice of a DeviantArt commenter and gave him red eyes, more fitting to the design.

Being a blank flank was a huge part of Wind Chaser's identity. Around Halloween a few years ago, I created an evil, Nightmare-like alter ego of Wind Chaser named Nightwind Boreas, who was consumed by envy and resentment towards the successes of other ponies and his perceived failure.

After "Crusaders of the Lost Mark", and after another friend with a blank flank OC gave it a cutie mark, I thought about the progress I had made emotionally in real life and thought about giving Wind Chaser a cutie mark. After Season 5 ended, I took the pill and gave him a mark I call the "Double Check", two swept, stylized horseshoes making a W-like shape. I reduced the number of color fields in the mane and tail from 5 (blue-white-blue-red-blue) to 3 (white-blue-red) and added a horseshoe theme to his boots.

My main oc actually used to be a brown pegasus with white designs on him, but i felt that the markings didn't fit the show very much and i wanted to give him a bit of a crutch so I took his wings away >:3

Treble (my profile picture) used to be a pegasus and he had two different shades of red in his mane instead of one. He also used to be named Blaze. He has had a few hairstyles because I originally used pony creator to make him, but when I started using bases and drawing his hair myself, I settled on one style. His denim jacket was also added late in his design.

His personality used to be completely based off myself, but I have slowly changed some things to make him more unique. He is still very similar to me, but with a few key differences.

I'm gonna talk about my Ponysona (Musical Strokes) that is the only OC who got a lot of changes.

Ok, my actual first MLP OC was a HUGE Gary Stu.

He was a Male Alicorn with MARE face with a credited Cutie Mark and he was prince of...nothing. He was just a Alicorn for the sake of being a Alicorn. The bad thing is that I used him for YEARS. And apparently his name was "Like"...cringe.

http://i.imgur.com/TzMqOIZ.png

Can't find the creator of the Cutie Mark, but he is the actual owner.

Then, recently I made a tuned down Pegasus OC:

Then I gave him a drawn-by-myself Cutie Mark, some things on the cheecks, more orange-ish eyes and golden mane and tail.

And the final product:

I noticed how a male with Mare face is weird and gave him a Stallion face. At first, stallion faces look ugly, but I got used to it:

And that was How To Tune Down A Gary Stu And Change Him Completly

I actually did...looking back, I f***ing  hate how I designed before. It was just stupid. I used the pony creator to make him originally but that is not what I hate, I didn't make him to represent me and that was my biggest mistake, so I cast him in the depths of forgotten stuff.

Here 'he' is:
