technology How many screens do you use for your PC/Laptop?

Yikes! How are you gonna pay that off?  Debt is a serious matter, and I pledged myself to never get into it. I sure hope you've already made a payment plan to pay it off (not that it's any of my business. However, I'm only stating my concern).

It is paid off since the second it was purchased ;)

Why not sell the Acer one then? ;)

Because very few people would want to buy a monitor I've had since 2006 (especially since the menu button is broken), and the amount of money I would get for selling it is so small that it would not help me afford another monitor. I'd be able to buy myself two meals at a restaurant but that's about it.

Well there has to be something or someplace where you can sell or even trade it for some cash or credit to use for your next purchase or something like that.

Yeah but I'd get like max 40 bucks and in that case I'd rather just keep it.

Do you know how to calibrate the screen on your laptop? Cuz if it's too bright, too dark, too red, too green, etc (same goes with your TV)., there is definitely something wrong.

No, but if i look at an image of Pinkie pie like this one:

PinkiePieHiRes.pngHer coat is like almost idigo-pink and her mane hot pink.

I try to look up how to calibrate it and there's nothing to find.

Yeah, your monitors are WAY over-saturated and your eyes will get strained even more with the intensity.

For me, her coat is light pink and her mane is also hot pink, but not too intense that it hurts my eyes.

You need to get your monitors calibrated ASAP. Here is a place to start for free calibration that you can do by yourself: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-ca/windows7/calibrate-your-display

I see what you mean.

However, for people like me who need more workspace for a better workflow for multi-tasking, having 2+ screens for 1 computer can be very resourceful and useful so that we do not have to deal with crammed spaces.

You do understand that, don't you?

I really do not, like at all. Sorry. lol

At work I use a laptop with a three screen setup, one of which is the laptop screen itself: one standard oriented monitor in the middle, one vertically-oriented monitor to the right of that (for working on code and whatnot) and the laptop on a raised platform to the left of the middle monitor.

At home, I just have my one 1920x1200 monitor hooked up to my gaming desktop.

Just one. For my tower I have it hooked up to a 51 inch Samsung LED TV in my living room, and I just use it honestly as a very expensive cable box. This Computer is a 21" Sony Vaio tap, my wife has an HP, idk what model, all I know is I paid 600 bucks for it, and we have another Sony Vaio lying around the house somewhere I paid 300 dollars for. I seem to acquire computers for some reason. Also, downstairs I have a Battalion 101 CZ touch from Ibuypower that is sadly dead due to it's poor design which actually melted down the mobo. I've also got 2 cannabilized towers I got off the US government at liquidation sales just for parts. Believe it or not, the US Government for some reason buys PC's with I7 processors and Nvidia GTX cards.

That's why you can actually duplicate or even expand the display workspace and actually calibrate the TV Screen as well. That built-in calibration software provided by Microsoft is not just limited to laptop screens and computer monitors you know. ;)

I guess they need that kind of horsepower for anything they would need them for. ;)

yes, but it doesn't bother my eyes at all really. I just thought since someone said this, I'd join in and say what happened to mine.

Even though it may not hurt your eye like you claim to say, it's not normal to view content from TVs that have not been properly calibrated (or probably never calibrated at all). The reason being is because you are not able to see the content as the directors of TV shows and movies see them. I'd prefer to have my displays calibrated so that I can actually see for myself how the content was originally meant to be viewed.

For example, with MLP:FiM. When I watch the show on my laptop screen and monitors, they are still bright and colourful. Yet the colours are never over-saturated because all colours are in balance.

You get what I mean?

Mind if I ask you this, do you happen to own a Disney DVD with the THX Calibration setup (known as THX Optimizer) built-in to the disk's menu? Here is the official website of THX with the list of THX-certified DVDs and Blu-rays that you may happen to own (or at least know a friend or two that has at least one of them). The THX Optimizer method is also a great way to calibrate your TV display. ;)

I have two screens, but my graphics card can only handle one. I guess I could get an input/output switcher box. I like having two different screen ratios. One being 4:3 for reading content, typing, and sometimes I'll flip it to portrait mode. The other screen is a 16:9 for all my movie needs. Most of the time I got the 4:3 running. Just that the text looks bigger and there is less horizontal distance to track. I don't have to zoom in all the time. Here's a good thread on the subject. I like to get a crt monitor too for my retro gaming needs and low pixel count viewing.

I don't even know which button open the menu to adjust the color; i can open the calibration, but never the color menu. it said each laptop has a different setup, and this one was given to me by a friend.

I have one monitor for my PC, but I'd love to have dual monitor setups sometime in the future, when I ever go install a second graphics card in SLI/CrossfireX. I could game on one screen, and browse the net on the other. Useful if I want to look something up for the game, or chat with someone. Because, you know, that's kind of the point of multiple monitor setups. Or if you want to game with dual or triple monitor.

That's why i love it! I can be on here and play my games; really helpful.
