I think "u" by Kendrick Lamar is probably my favorite at the moment. I'd even say that To Pimp a Butterfly is my favorite Hip Hop album.

I have quite a few favorite rap songs

Gangsters Paradise (1995)
Baby Got Back (1992)

Thrift Shop (2013)

Rap God (2013)

anaconda (2014)

just naming a few
I think rap really shines as a genre when there is actual thought put into the lyrics and Im more of a fan of insightful and thoughtful rap and 3 out of the 5 songs listed do fall into that category IMO

All my life needed was a sense of someplace to go. I don't believe that one should devote his life to morbid self-attention. I believe that someone should become a person like other people.

Not a big fan of rap tbh, but I'm a big fan of Gorillaz. Some of their stuff is amazing!

Slick Rick is my favourite. His songs are essentially stories.

This one in particular is about two children who rob people for the hell of it. One of the kids comes addicted to robbing, and attempts to rob an undercover detective. He is then chased by the police, who is then gunned down by them.

TL;DR Version: Don't rob people.

I usually like rock/infused rap like Linkin' Park, Transplants, Beastie Boys, Rage Against the Machine and such. I haven't really opened myself up to the Rap genre much though to be honest. I always had a lot of respect towards Tupac though I know that much.

That reminds me of one by KRS!

A lot of old rap is like that, ones that tell stories.

I don't really listen to much rap and when I do it's usually a mix with another genre like Hollywood Undead.

My favorite rap (which may not actually be rap but I think it is) is songs from the Anarchy Reigns soundtrack. Example:
