Today was such a fantastic episode, one of the best Princess Luna episodes I've seen, I loved seeing Nightmare Moon again and seeing a lot of the great references like Princess Big Mac, Lyra and Bon Bon as CatDog, Filthy Rich riding a money wave, Scootaloo with giant wings and the return of Flutterbat, Zapp, Radiance, and Mistress Mare- velous. Also loved seeing Luna finally prove she's not the same pony she used to be and I cried seeing her feel so awful for what she did as Nightmare Moon. Definitely a great episode, also those singing sunflowers are creepy,    9/10!!!

This episode was just saturated in visual creativity as any episode involving Luna or dreams should be. I found myself commenting "this episode is so freakin' trippy" multiple times throughout. Dreams really do weird things to us and MLP's staff has an absolute grasp of that fact.

The moral and the physical manifestation of Princess Luna's guilt as the fuel for the Tantabus were really a nice touch, however the resolution felt rushed and half-done for three reasons; a)too distracted, b)too quick, and c) it was all Twilight.

Working backwards, starting with Twilight, pretty much filling the Ms. Exposition role for the episode, is the one who had to tell everypony they could do anything in a dream. A fact Princess Luna herself was fully aware of in "Bloom and Gloom". You could make the counterargument that Luna was not in the right emotional state to do it, but whatever Princess Luna taught to Twilight to know that as fact rather than just rumor should not have happened offscreen. For Twilight to just know that right out in Luna's stead seemed a bit too convenient for me considering Luna is the expert at something that no other pony should logically know enough about without going through her (as is established in the episode).

At the same time, the moral was delivered by going into full-on "Twilight knows best" mode. This would have been much more fulfilling if Luna had come to the realization herself with a little prodding from the Mane 6, rather than expositing the entire moral right there to cap the episode on the precipice of disaster.

The buildup of the first two acts and the flow the episode was in was flat-out compromised by the fanservice scenes. That screentime given to satiate every subconscious desire to stick in a continuity reference would have served much better for Luna and the Mane 6 striving towards the realization that the Tantabus fed on Luna's guilt, and to come to the "you can do anything in a dream" naturally rather than conveniently. Switching the order of the fanservice scenes and the moral scenes would have definitely made the episode much more structurally sound, as would trimming the fanservice have.

Overall, I'm keen on the moral Princess Luna learned here, and its delivery throughout the episode really solidified how deep guilt, no matter how founded it is, can permeate every aspect of our minds. I appreciate the character building Luna goes through here, though the ending suffered from oversimplification and distracting fanservice. The visuals and ideas on display throughout the first two acts really justify it, as does the idea behind its resolution even if its execution was lost.

I gotta say, it was pretty good. The humor and references were great, and it's nice to see Luna get some much needed development.

However, a couple things hold this back from being spectacular. As Dark Qiviut put it best, the pacing was too fast, and the conflict was resolved to quickly.

Still, a solid 8.5/10 for me.

This episode was like a really bad fanfic. It might of redeemed itself, it the plot wasn't shat on at the end. Seriously...
Luna: I R EMO GUYZ I MAH FAULT CUZ I HATE ME!"
Twilight: Stop being emo.
Luna: k
POOF! Problem solved!

Also, is Twilight not sleeping a trend now? This is...what...the fourth time?

Super chickun was amusing...and of course, even further cementing Lyra and Bonbon lol.

Feel free to add me on steam if you want to play something. Also don't be afraid to message and talk to me. I've had bad luck when I start a conversation, so I more then likely won't start one.

I... I don't know how to feel about this episode. There were some episodes that made me chuckle, namely Rainbow Dash's nightmare and giant Derpy. But I wouldn't say all of the humour has worked either. The Princess Big Mac gag confused me, almost to the point where I wanted to stop watching the episode entirely. I also got irritated with Luna's constant whining. I mean, I'm glad that she finally solved her issues with her past once and for all, but it took her that long? At this point I'm getting more and more ticked off with misunderstood characters.

The episode felt really rushed too. There were too many scenes to grasp and learn about before quickly moving on to another one. That climax felt pretty weak too. But I will say that I did like the concept of being whatever you want in a dream although the execution felt a little wrong, and it certainly isn't the worst of the season. I wouldn't really want to watch it again, however.

This episode wins for most surreal episode of the show next to For Whom the Sweetie Belle Toils. I can tell the animators had fun with this one. I'm a bit disappointed that Pinkie didn't get to do anything to help since she was the one who technically caused it but eh, can't get everything you want. The episode was pretty much good. Though, could do without the ambiguous fanservice. The alicorn Big Mac was a bit too much for me.

Pinkie being useless in this episode reminded me of the horrors of season three and four where she was flanderized. oh joy pinkie going to turn into an annoying twit again isnt she? great this season was going so well with her characterization.

Rock solid, spectacular episode.

Not a whole lot to say about it, though.  It was just awesome, plain and simple.  Fantastic premise, chocked full of great humor and references.  Giant Derpy was funny, alicorn Big Mac was great, hero Spike from A Dog & Pony Show was great, LyraBon CatDog was hilarious, Flutterbat was a nice touch.  It was just endless.  I think my favorite funny bit was how Rainbow's nightmare was an overly sappy, nausiatingly cute world.

The whole premise of how and why the Tantabus was created was brilliant.  The resolution was spectacular as well, and gives us yet another incredibly significant and useful moral; the importance of forgiving ourselves when others already have.  This is something I have a huge problem with.  I beat myself up over things I shouldn't, and have trouble letting go of past mistakes.  For me, the climax when Luna forgave herself was very powerful.

A common complaint of this show is that the resolutions are often rushed.  I tend to agree, but not this time.  I thought the pacing was fine, and I felt like the climax and ending fit together perfectly.

One other thing--Luna's dreamscape at the end; is that suppose to be something?  I felt like that was a reference I wasn't getting.  Like, maybe something from G1, or a reference to something I don't know.  It just didn't seem random to me.  Seemed like it meant something.

The episode was great, but I was still hoping it was going to be a Celestia spotlight, or at least a Sisters spotlight.  I'm not complaining about Luna screen time.  Not at all.  But we've never had a Celestia spotlight, and I'm betting we never will.  For such an "important" character, she probably has the least screentime of any major player, save Zecora.  I'm still hoping against hope for a slice of life Celestia spotlight that really developes her as a real pony, and delves more into her relationship with her sister.

So, that's it.  And, even though I'm not particularly big Blade Runner fan, this is still the best episode title of the whole series.

HUGE DITZY WEE!! Am I the only one that expected Doctor Whooves to walk up in a brown suit and trench coat and whip out a sonic screwdriver https://dyn0.media.forbiddenplanet.com/products/2857749-5.jpg.jpgand start fighting the monster back? Mac's transformation is a parody of Sailor Moon.

Agree my friend. Is the Doctor in the episode?

This episode was starting out as an okay episode for me, and then the shared dream hit. Boy, was that amazing. I couldn't even name everything! I can try though.

1. Princess Big Mac! (obviously)

2. Power Ponies!

3. Airplane Scootaloo! (Anyone else think she was like an airplane?)

4. Lyra Bon Bon combo thing! (Made me think of the shapeshifter from Gravity Falls)

5. Warrior Spike riding giant Derpy into battle!

6. Flutterbat!

7. Money Surfer!

That's all I can think of off the top of my head, but others will definitely mention things I missed. Anyway, time for bad things.

1. Nothing.

I loved this episode! I think it goes right behind Slice of Life at best epsiode. It was full of my kind of humor: Complete and utter randomness. It wasn't like Slice of Life, where it was just supposed to be fun, stupid, fandom nodding epsiode (that passive aggressiveness is directed at you, naysayers), but it was still random and fun and just great. I loved how we got to learn more of Luna and how she feels about Nightmare Moon. I also loved RD's and Pinkie's dreams (both for entirely different reasons). Dash's because that's incredibly creepy, and Pinkie's because it's random! And I really felt that the ending was played fine. Yes, it easily could have been longer, but I don't really think that it would have mattered if it had. I also don't think Celestia needed screentime, mostly because this epsiode was entirely based on Luna, but also because I only like her about at an ok rating. I also think Discord shouldn't have appeared, because I feel like he would have been too powerful for this. Anyway, that's my thoughts!

Oh, and does anyone else think that the scissors were a reference to Star vs the Forces of Evil? They both did the same thing: Open a portal to another dimension.

I... am at a loss for words.

So much happened in the dreams...

I know that everything I'll mention now has had to have been previously mentioned, but...

Out of all the first dreams, Rainbow Dash's dream was the craziest, of course.  I was dang near creeped out at the singing flowers.  That was nuts!

Then, Alicorn Princess Big Mac, Knight Spike, Giant Derpy, Scootaloo flying (which made me tear up), Flutterbat, CatDog Lyra and Bon Bon...

Wooow.

And the way it all ended with Luna's guilt; I teared up there too.

I really can't say much besides "that was nuts" lmao.

I'll give this a 9.4/10.  I watched it twice because I wanted to make sure I didn't give it too high of a score after only watching it once, not being able to fully grip what I just saw.

I just have to say that Luna being able to do what she did here is more evidence of just how damn powerful she is.  I personally feel that she is stronger than Cia, but that's just my opinion.

Of course didn't you see him? Fluttershy transformed in to Flutterbat and bit a house monster freeing him.

Giant Derpy, alicorn princess Big Mac, Filthy Rich gliding on a trail of bits, Scootaloo sprouting gigantic wings, demon Angel Bunny. Seriously, could we ask for more awesomeness in one episode?

I got a chance to see the episode before I went to Comic-Con and...I am overwhelmed at how much awesome is in this episode.  From those crazy happy flowers to Giant Derpy to Big winged Scootaloo, return of Flutterbat, two of the Power Ponies, Big Guy Spike and Princess Big Mac, this was definitely an episode that let loose for our amusement.

Is there a grade higher than an A+? Whatever that grade is, this episide earned it by miles. I just had too much fun and emotion during it. Quite possibly the best episode of s5 thus far. 100/10
