gaming Saddest Moments In Gaming

Celestial Sloth

Recommended Posts

Not sure if one like this exists. So boom. Existence.

What is your most favourite, but saddest gaming moments. What made you literally cry at the screen, "Damn it Snake! You better climb your ass through that microwave, not die, and save the world!"?

Well. That was mine. And all the other Metal Gear endings really. Don't want to exclude John Marston's final stand. And the GTA IV ending if you pick to deal with Dimitri. I had to re-do the story just to see Roman live. I couldn't care less about Kate.

Anyway, those are mine. There's just something about character sacrifices. Especially when they've been through so much.

I can't think of one that really made me weep or really get to me recently. I know there have been a lot that have but I can't remember any. I can however remember from Breath of Fire 3 (See there I go talking about it again too damn much) near the end you reunite with a long lost ally that was in your party for a bit and half the game was spent looking for them. Well you have to fight them and kill them and I don't know, I just thought the who scene was well done and actually got to me a bit when he's giving his final words. Now when I remember I better "Saddest game moment ever" I shall post again XD

Final Fantasy VII's famous moment where

Sephiroth kills Aeris.

is a memorable one.

Though the saddest might be in Dragon Quest V,

Much of the events of the game. Hero seeing his father killed, being taken as a slave, and then after your children are born, being petrified for years and them being the ones who save you.

really.

Chrono Cross

When you are in the Dead Sea and have to fight Miguel and learn about your past and the future created by Serge. That one has a lot to do with the music though.

Also at the end credits when you see a girl walking through Japan and she's supposed to represent Kid trying to find Serge in another world (like she said she would do) Epic stuff.

Gears Of War 3

The demise of Dom.

Batman:Arkham City

The curtain call for The Joker.

CoD slander etc

Dead Space

I don't know how I managed to feel sad amidst all the mutilation and horror but I felt pretty unhappy when his girlfriend/lover died.

Oh my god I know who you mean D:

That is one of my favourite games of all time, god that was such a painful ending.

A lot of people talk about that BIG legendary part of FFVII

Final Fantasy VII's famous moment where

Sephiroth kills Aeris.

is a memorable one.

Right, that part.

But there's ANOTHER moment from the game, that a lot of people forget about, which is surprising considering it's THE BIGGEST PLOT TWIST OF THE DAMN GAME.

After Cloud's in hospital in Mideel, both him and Tifa fall into the Lifestream. That entire segment was pretty unnerving where Tifa somehow manages to slip into Cloud's memories and consciousness, and basically unravels the truth behind the Nibelheim incident.

But the one that always breaks my heart is when Tifa remembers the day her mother died.

And then she got hurt in the mountains, and Cloud was blamed for it because she went into a coma for a week while he was trying to stop her. And that starts his entire motivation to become stronger, and joining SOLDIER to do so.

Seriously. Nobody remembers this that I know of, and yet it's one of the most heartbreaking pieces of the game.

Ah, yes that scene. Brohoof for bringing that up. I probably would have mentioned it, but I didn't think about it at the time. Speaking of...

Cloud in the hospital, amusing screenshot. Lack of context ftw.

I'm going to hell for that. FYI I only did that on an emulator for the screenshot. yay dexdrive

HHHAHAHAHA XD oh you~

Is Dexdrive a good emulator? I'd actually love a PSX emulator that can run on Windows 7 and is reasonably easy and stable, can you recommend me one?

Dexdrive isn't an emulator. Dexdrive is a thingy you can use to connect a PS1 memory card to your PC. ePSXe is an emulator, and a decent one, provided you don't mind finding plugins for it and a list of which ones to use for which games. All you need is a computer that can run it (most) and a controller, and your discs.

Another sad moment to keep this from being off-topic: In Dragon Quest VIII, when

you fight to save Empyria's egg, but Gemon ends up sacrificing himself to destroy it anyway.

Surprised I didn't mention that earlier.

Aaaaah right, wow that's amazing!

OH, another sad moment from a game...well someone will expect to hear it so I'm going to put it out of the way right now.

The ending of Mother 3.

Yes it is just as sad as you expect it to be.

Especially if you name Claus after someone you love, like your own brother.

Final Fantasy VII. I think most know about the infamous moment and the thing that occurs with Aerith. I cried and felt very depressed when I first saw it.

Another sad moment? In Final Fantasy X, when...

Tidus and Yuna separate at the end. Seeing him jump off of that airship and hearing her say that she loved him really got me going. I know I'm a sap, but I love that ending. The music makes it all the more saddest.

I cried so hard at the ending of Silent Hill 2 when

you read the letter from Mary and the final sentence says "James... You made me happy."

Then, I don't know if this counts, but the end of the Left 4 Dead comic

when Bill dies by sacrificing himself to save everyone

made me cry so much, too.

The sadest moment in video game history is, without a doubt, Mother 3.

Not even one part of it, but the entire game.

The Mother/Earthbound series is a great trilogy, and should be played by anypony who is a fan of Nintendo, RPGs, Humor, or all three. But the final game is incredibly sad and depressing, but also amazing, and a great ending to the series.

Modern Warfare 3

Why? WHY?!

GTA: San Andreas

This was awfully sad because it demonstrated just how some people can get caught up so much in the fame and fortune (rightfully or otherwise) that they forget about their friends and family -- or in some cases, even turn against them.

Gears of War 2 when

Dom finds Maria.

Gears of War 3 when

Dom dies.

Super Mario 64's ending when

it pans away from the castle while Mario and Peach are waving.

The legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask when

you let the time go to the end, and that song is playing.
